What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Ah! I remembered one of the English ales. It's from Ridgeway. Ivanhoe. Looking at the BA reviews is typical. It's not "exciting" enough for some over here. Well done though. I forgot (shock) that I gave it to a buddy of mine and he gave it a 4.25. About right.
It took me like an hour or 10 minutes to remember Ridgeway. Don't  me. I'm confused enough already. :banned:

:D Slowing...down. Time for bed.

Later y'all! :bye:

This thread is getting interesting to me. You guys meet up each night to talk of your concoctions.

I never knew there were so many beer :nerd: 's.

Incidentally, who is the mayor here? Wingnut?

This Alesmith IPA has some of the best head retention Ive seen....I dont remember it having this much retention. Not much lacing, but a good 3/4 inch head has stuck thru the whole glass.

Fluffy head makes me happy.
probably it's the result of yeeeeeeeears of pouring crisp Miller and Bud from a tap w/ either no or very minimal head... but i can't get these 3/4 inch heads of which you speak.i've tried the recommended BA technique but i still wind up with nothing.

the only way i can get ANY head is if i tip the bottle straight up and down and dump it in to a vertical glass.... otherwise... bubkis.

Franziskaner is a long time favorite - having a Paulaner hefe right now.  Absolutely a great summer brew, especially (as you said) after hopping the living tar out of my mouth over the past week or so.
I was contemplating picking up the Paulaner. It is actually the better reviewed hefe, with the Weinstephan the highest rated at BA. I may have to pick some up for a side by side comparison.
I had a couple of Paulaners last night myself. It's my #1 goto beer.

Had some Paulaner Octoberfest Marzen last night, along with some Abita Wheat. The Paulaner was great; the Abita, not so much, which was kind of dissapointing, as I had enjoyed the last two seasonals, the Red Ale and Strawberry Lager, quite a bit.

the last Abita seasonal I had was the bock and it was pretty good.

Everything Paulaner makes is top notch. Their Hefe is probably my favorite, of Hefe's that are easily accessible.

In a somewhat related yet unrelated note, I've decided to get rid of all but one of my pint glasses. I figure a pint glass is for specific types of beer, just like the various tulips, flutes, wide rims, etc. No need to have six.

I've got too many glasses and its cluttering up my bar area. Every time I go to the Stuffed Sandwich I forget my glass and have to buy a new one (and one for my wife) so my collection is growing out of control. I wouldn't have this problem if I remembered to bring a glass to SS.
 I know I'm un-cufe. I figure a pint glass covers the greatest amount of beers I drink. I use a weizen glass for Hefe's. The Chimay goblet for Belgians. Pint glass for almost everything else. :bag:
When in doubt, I go with the Duvel glass that comes with the beer set.
I've been meaning to get a Duvel glass. Do they only sell the gift packs around Christmas?

Waitaminnit - you had Millenium, Insanity, Hops Infusion, an Alt, *AND* a hoe??? Hope the brewer's droop didn't kick in until after she left... :pickle:

I bought myself some new glasses last week from John's Grocery. Got a Duvel tulip, Paulaner weizen glass, Ayinger Celebrator tumbler, and a Fuller's pint glass. Didn't need another pint glass, but I liked the name on it. :D

Ditto. I've been looking recently, but haven't seen any.

ME TOO!!!!
Oddly, I've not poured any St. Bernardus into it yet. I've had some Chimay in there, and I drank the Dogfish Head Immort Ale out of it as well. Anyone heard anything more about that special anniversary edition Abt 12?

ETA: this is the one I got...

Late June. :drool:St. Bernardus Abt 12 - SPECIAL EDITION

Year 2006 marks the 60th Anniversary of the brewery St. Bernard, which was created in 1946 and its sole purpose was to commercially brew until 1992 St. Sixtus Trappist Abbey brands. St. Bernardus Abt 12 is still made according to the same original recipe from 1946 and is recognized as one of the best ales in the world. This Special Edition of Abt 12 will be available in an attractive metal container and was brewed for that occasion by brew master Bert Van Hecke. Bert is paying tribute not only to the brewery, but also to the hop growers from Poperinge region of West Flanders by using their Challenger and Golding hops together with black, amber, Munich and pale ale malts. This one-time only Limited Edition of St. Bernardus Abt 12 will be available starting in late June 2006 until is completely sold out.

How cool is that container? MUST HAVE THIS

Only one tonight (miserable 6:30 drive to a meeting tomorrow...) but I made it a good one - Heavyweight Lunacy. 7.7% Belgian blonde spiced with coriander. Gonna miss this brewery, big time.

I'm envious of the beers that Bakes can get, and I live in a fairly decent area for beer.

I'm currently drinking a Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale. Good beer. More like an IPA than a Red, but I can't complain about that. I'm starting to think that Bear Republic doesn't know how to make a bad brew.

I'm with FatMax on this one. I leave at 5:30am every day too. You're a slacker. Having a DFH 90 minute right now. It doesn't suck.

Fine. You win. But when I start trading for myself next year, I'll be working 12+ hour days, divided into mornings/mid-day and overnights. Or whenever I want, but knowing me I won't take advantage of the "flex schedule" I can offer myself. But that's the price you pay if you want to make high six figures, run a 4 minute mile, bench press 400 lbs, and have a full head of hair. And don't we all here have that? (I think I missed one too)
