What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Alright, I hope you guys are happy (hoppy?). I signed up at BA finally. I wasn't going to since Furley was the one making the push. But I did it. I'll let you sharp fellers figure out my screen name there.
Whats your name? Iheartfurley?

Take some time and just browse around the site.....TONS of great info on everything beer.
Right. Cause that's what I need..... More ways to waste my time and life away on things related to beer. I'll just have my wife and daughter look you up once they finally are through with my hyper-focused personality. She'll love you for it.

Small Beer Fridge

The "Cellar"
2 questions: Is that an Anchor XMas middle bottom shelf in the fridge??

What did you pay for that "cellar"? Im thinkinng about getting one, but much smaller...maybe for like 10 bottles or so.

10 beers? Seriously, why even bother? That's only one good night's drinking, and you can keep that much in the fridge out on the front porch. Seriously.

It's not a cellar, just a metal shelving unit I had around the house. It stays pretty dry and cool in the basement.

I dont think I could drink 10 750s in a night. Anyway, Im not into aging beers much but if I came across a few Id like to age, Id have a way (Stone Old Guardian, Stone RIS, SN Bigfoot, and DFH120 come to mind). Right now all I have is a closet that stays around 75-80 degrees.

Most of mine isn't really for cellaring, but just a place to keep my beer that is protected from the hot wet heat of Minnesota summers.

What, beer can't survive with temperatures over 40 degrees? :banned:

Going to rate my New Glarus Cherry Stout from Tip Top.

This beer is seriously tasty. GB New Glarus and those insane cherries they use.

Well, looks like the local grocery store has decided to join La Revolucion!

:pickle:

Lotsa stuff I haven't seen (or at least haven't tried).

Anyone (i.e. Fro, Max) have any experience with any of these breweries:

Butte Creek (Chico - organic)

Bison (Berkeley - organic, including IPA and Stout. Come to think of it, I think I've been to this one a few times - many moons ago. Isn't this over by the old Yoshi's?)

Speakeasy (SF - one of their brews is an Imperial IPA, can't wait.)

They also had some offerings from a brewery on the other side of the plot:

Shipyard (Portland, ME - anyone? Bueller?)

Lastly, they had something that Fro was pimping that I can't wait to grab:

Drakes IPA (San Leandro)

Also Old Rastputin and bombers of Racer 5 for $3.50

"Honey, do you need me to pick up any groceries on my way home"

Ive had the Butte Creek Organic IPA. Wasnt bad. Nothing earthshattering but worth a try.Shipyard is average, IMO. The IPA uses only Fuggles hops, so it isnt anything to write home about. Pretty tame.

Old Rasputin is great, as is Racer 5.

I have one of these that holds 120 win bottles. It's #######' jammed right now. Looks like I need to have one helluva party some time soon. I'm so stupid, that I keep buying more. A buddy is long 12-18 bottles for me right now. I keep putting him off when he says he'll bring them by. The beer is sitting next to that in the basement. Currently about 100+ bottles just waiting for you #######s to make me ship to someone in BIF.

So I got a p-mail from Wingnut that said he is indeed the mayor of this community...and that I should have known better. :lmao:

Thought that was pretty funny...

Take nothing for granted.I'm WELL past my prime (although seeing TT's fridges bring back B-U-T-ful memories).

Only average about 3 or 4 brews a week now, but am ALWAYS into discovering new beauties to experience.

That is why I'm always lurking

I didnt like the over all flavor of it. It is still hard for me to describe this stuff but it was just weird.ETA: Am I way off base here? What does everyone else think of it?

I'll chime in and agree that the Butte Creek and the Bison are pretty average beers at best. I have had the BC Organic Pale, and the Bison IPA and Barleywine. The Bison IPA was too sweet and was missing hops. The Barleywine was a little better and more suited to the style, but there are still plenty of barleywines I would rate above it.And the Shipyard IPA as Wingnut pointed out is all Fuggles. If you like English IPA's, go ahead and try it. It's okay, but nothing to write home about.
