What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Wilked needs to remove "tonight" from the title. Better yet - just edit it to "ALL BEER, ALL THE TIME"
Agreed. If I am home, there is a good chance that I am having a beer.
I like it the way it is. It was a simple post about what beer someone was drinking, and it has blossomed into the 10th longest thread in the FFA. I say don't mess with it.
Whered you find that stat (the 10th longest thread)?
Only 100 99 more needed to move up to #9. Then about 100 more to move to #8. I figure that'll take about a day or 2. :D

Hung out this evening with a gb who's a former pro brewer between gigs.

- Victory Hop Devil

- Victory Golden Monkey

- Fraoch Heather Ale :meh:

- Saison de Pipaix

- Aventinus Weizen Eisbock

- Homebrewed Pilsener (mine)

- Bourbon barrel porter and Imperial IPA from his former gig

And he sent me home with

- MacGuire's "What the Gentleman on the Floor is Having" barleywine

- 1996 Bell's Third Coast Old Ale

Good night for a Wednesday!
Where's the bourbon barrel porter from?
Mad Anthony Brewing in Fort Wayne, IN. It was a one-off, draft only at the brewpub. They bottled off a couple of cases for their own consumption, but it was never bottled for sale.

Yuengling is just PA for Bud, imo.  They forgot flavor.
If you had them both side by side you would be able to taste the difference. I'm not positive, but I don't think that Yuengling uses adjuncts like Bud does, and that makes a difference in the taste. Sure, it is not as flavorful as most beer, but it really isn't that bad. Until Dale's Pale Ale made its way here, Yuengling was my official camping beer.Edit: A little bit of research suggests that indeed corn is present in Yuengling. I don't notice it as much as I do in Budweiser.

"Chicago - German Pub Walk - Save this Date!

Posted: 05-05-2006 19:59:12 UTC

--

Folks, I have entered the following in the BA calendar. Hopefully it will be posted soon. Mark your calendars and lets go out and have a good time!!

Its time for a German Pub Crawl on Chicago’s north side. Lets drink our way through the St. Bens & Lincoln Square neighborhoods and take advantage of the wonderful Gemutlichkeith that these fine neighborhood establishments offer.

The date is Saturday June 3rd.

Lets kick off the festivities at 1:30 p.m. at Laschets Inn located at 2119 West Irving Park Road. Optional start time at noon if you want to grab some of their tasty German food.

At 2:30 we will dodge traffic as we venture to the north side of the Irving Park and head to Resi's Bier Stube (2034 West Irving Park). Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can spend some time in the Beer Garten.

We will shoot to arrive at our next destination (Glunz Bavarian Haus) by 3:45. It is just up Lincoln Avenue and should be about a 5 minute walk. Glunz has recently started to put even more emphasis on beer. I was there last week had (among others) two Maibocks on tap!

Glunz’s is located at 4128 North Lincoln.

We can then make a game time decision and decide if we want to walk north along Lincoln and make a stop at the Daily Bar & Grille or The Wild Goose or do we just jump in a taxi and head directly to Lincoln Square.

At Lincoln Square we will have a host of options. There is the Chicago Brau Haus at 4732 North Lincoln.

There is also the Hansa Clipper at 4659 N. Lincoln Ave.

And/or the Huettenbar at 4721 North Lincoln Avenue.

Last and certainly not least, the various German Clubs are sponsoring a large street fest right in Lincoln Square. Note that one of the sponsors is Hoffbrau House Beers.

They will have free live entertainment, good food ,etc.

So what do you say, break out the Liderhosen and lets go!"

About to have a Kool Komrade Stout
"T: Whoa its sour. Is it supposed to taste this way? Tastes a bit like fermented charred oak. Iced coffee with sour milk that transitions to powdered chocolate flavors. Aftertaste of grape sweet/sourness"

LOLI was a bit confused while drinking it.

Pliney the Elder and all 2 liters of it. On to some SNPA from my tap. :drunk:
thoughts on it?Did the carb hold up?
Thoughts? You must mean after he woke up in the dog-run this morning spooning the two Rottweilers.

Come to think of it, I'd like to know his thought on that too.
No rotts here. I have one dog, and it is much smaller than that. I woke up next to my wife just fine. I am a trained professional after all.

Carbonation held up just fine. Beer was great. My wife kept giving me funny looks when I smelled it. Thanks again.
I have this same affliction. I tend to smell the good beers like GI Imperial, DFH, etc. while I drink them. Also get the same strange looks from the missus. Must be a female genetic thing.....

.....please don't try this at home.

I wanted to start a thread earlier about a few things that peeved me this morning:

(1) Bathroom hummers -- You know, the guys who hum in the bathroom while they go. Mind out of the gutter please.

(2) Chewing gum so ####### loud that people around you can't think -- Happened on the train ride in today. F'ing woman behind me was smacking, and chomping, and popping her ####### gum all the way. Wanted to strangle her.

(3) Innapropriate usage of the word "snappage" -- Saw this on the Cubs broadcast y'day when Maddux when nuts. The announcer used the word to describe the tirade. Funny. But best left to the correct usage.

Sorry. I have "issues".

:(

That is the first step GB.
Is this the part where I appologize to everybody I've wronged during my entire life? 'Cause that step is going to take a long time."And to the guy in the hot dog line at Wrigley, when you asked me to pass the mustard, and I said "#### YOU!" and squirted it all over your shirt. Sorry about that."

You should make a list. Scratch off each one when complete.

Can't I just issue a macro appology to the World and be done with it?"Sorry to everyone."

How's that?
