I can agree with this. I don't often buy Southern Tier (which I should, because it's local-ish), but you really can't beat Choklat. I'd say it's their best, though I'd put Unearthly right up there and Oat not far behind. That was my first chocolate stout too. Completely spied me. I was really surprised how good Oat was. Need to get some more of that.I haven't been able to find any bottles of that. Enjoy!Just got a couple of bottles of the Dogfish Head 120 IPA
I think I'm the only person on earth who doesn't love Great Lakes Christmas. It's a little too spicy for my liking...it'll sneak up on you too, their ABV is known to be underreported on that one. The ABV was listed at 7.5% a few years back and the actual ABV was closer to 10%, per the people at the brewery. Just a warning...I've never had the others....we don't get Deschutes here and our Avery selection is limited.Looking to buy the following for the next week or so:JubelaleOur Special Ale 2011 (Anchor Christmas Ale) Old JubelationGreat Lakes Brewing Company's Christmas AleAnyone taste any of these? Pumped to jump into the winter ales right before Xmas.
My neighbor gave me the 2 bottles I have but I did see some listed on Ebay.I haven't been able to find any bottles of that. Enjoy!Just got a couple of bottles of the Dogfish Head 120 IPA
I actually just bought a bottle of this just this morning. One of my local stores had 3 or 4 4-packs behind the counter in their special case. They had the Pearl Jame special release too, but I didn't get one of those.I haven't been able to find any bottles of that. Enjoy!Just got a couple of bottles of the Dogfish Head 120 IPA
GLB is solid. I like this years better than years past (not as spicy). Some of the snobs don't like it as much. They brewed more this year...you can actually still find it on the shelves locally.'nysportsfan said:Looking to buy the following for the next week or so:JubelaleOur Special Ale 2011 (Anchor Christmas Ale) Old JubelationGreat Lakes Brewing Company's Christmas AleAnyone taste any of these? Discount Liquor in Milwaukee still has several cases of the Bourbon Barrel Stout, but none of the other December releases. I think the BB Barleywine and Peruvian Morning come in January.Last night - Founder's BK Stout, Alaskan Smoked Porter, Left Hand Biere de Guard and MKE Brewing Co's Godzilla Imperial Wit, all on tap at the Bombshelter.Haven't seen the Brewhouse, but the Bourbon Barrel Stout was released. The Kosmyc Barleywine was released as well as Exodus (you would be lucky to find this, everything from what I heard has sold out immediately). The Bourbon Barrel Stout might be around still, my store I hit had 4 cases I purchased one 4 pack and 2 4 packs of Kosmyc Charlie. Not sure what part of Wisconsin you owuld be driving through (94 or 90). But if you take 94 you should not have a problem finding the Stout in the Milwaukee area. LEt me know and I can direct you to my store a little off 94 but they should have some left.New Glarus Black Top black IPA. Fantasy Freak, has Central Waters released their stouts yet (ie Brewhouse Coffee Stout)? Gonna be in the Northwoods for Christmas and was hoping to grab a bunch of these. I guess I can settle for Black Top if not.
That's a pretty good deal; I paid more than that.just bought a ten dollar bottle of beer. dogfish head 120 minute ipa. merry xmas to me!
Picked up some Sculpin IPA last night. Can't wait to get involved with it.![]()
i love this #### and haven't had it for quite a while.Pliny the ElderRacer 5SculpinI always reach for an IPA first.so ipas are my favorite beer. like the hoppy bitterness and higher alcohol content. big fan of stone ipa, arrogant *******, ruination etc. also big fan of dogfish head ipas. any other suggestions?
you have some good stuff to get in NY. Your first purchase should be Flower Power IPA by Ithaca Brewing Co. It's the best! Also try: Smuttynose IPA Blue Point Hoptical IllusionSix Point Bengali Tiger IPAso ipas are my favorite beer. like the hoppy bitterness and higher alcohol content. big fan of stone ipa, arrogant *******, ruination etc. also big fan of dogfish head ipas. any other suggestions?
I hate the bitter hops you like. But it's cool because there's a world of malty smooth but still big flavored bold beers our there. Barleywines have a big alcohol content and along with Scotch and Belgium Ales are my go tos. I bought a couple Stone Old Guardian Barleywines tonight. Ugh. Massive signature Stone bitter hops. You will love this disgusting swill.so ipas are my favorite beer. like the hoppy bitterness and higher alcohol content. big fan of stone ipa, arrogant *******, ruination etc. also big fan of dogfish head ipas. any other suggestions?
Bell's 2 Hearted is the gold standard.so ipas are my favorite beer. like the hoppy bitterness and higher alcohol content. big fan of stone ipa, arrogant *******, ruination etc. also big fan of dogfish head ipas. any other suggestions?
2 Hearted, Pliny, and Racer 5 are 3 of the best I've ever had. I also like Surly Furious (only available in MN) and Ithaca Flower Power as two of my other favorites. Lagunitas Hop Stoopid never fails to impress me either for 22 oz bottles. Also, Sierra Nevada Celebration is one of the best seasonal IPAs and it's out now. I've been working on a growler since yesterday.Keep an eye out for Troegs Nugget Nectar, it's probably going to be released soon, it's usually a January thing. Might be my favorite beer on the planet. Perhaps it's not quite an IPA, more like a really-hopped-up amber, but it's just awesome.so ipas are my favorite beer. like the hoppy bitterness and higher alcohol content. big fan of stone ipa, arrogant *******, ruination etc. also big fan of dogfish head ipas. any other suggestions?
LongTrail Imperial PorterTasker> hey
What do I need to drink fresh? already had the Righteous and now plowing through the porter. Thanks again.LongTrail Imperial PorterTasker> heyLet me know what you think about the Weyerbacher Sixteen, too...it's interesting, to say the least.
I would probably drink the Ithaca 13 sometime soon. I don't think that'll age well. Jack D'Or is just a damn good saison. Sled Dog and Weyerbacher 16 will hold for as long as you want, I think. What do I need to drink fresh? already had the Righteous and now plowing through the porter. Thanks again.LongTrail Imperial PorterTasker> heyLet me know what you think about the Weyerbacher Sixteen, too...it's interesting, to say the least.
Yeah I didn't know much about Lagunitas Sucks other than seeing a lot of talk about it. I gotta say though, it's pretty good, especially for the price....it was like $10 for a 6-pack of it (like all of their other stuff). Lagunitas never disappoints.i need to get some lagunitas sucks. I haven't seen it in my casual searches at the store, so I guess I need to get serious about it.I'll be cracking a Big Hugs from Half Acre and some fresh Founder's IPAs.
Just had that last time I was out East and loved it.LongTrail Imperial PorterTasker> hey
I've been doing an Eclipse variation a night until I hit all 7. Trying to plow through everything I have in general. Have way too much right now. I'm going to crack the Gorges you sent me and the Ithaca 13 also. Probably pour a Black Tuesday for everyone that comes over for my chili cook off. Want to take down a Madame Rose and Juliet this weekend as well. What are you fellas breaking out over the weekend? Christmas night isn't a big drinking night for me as I have to drive, but tomorrow sets up perfectly....I think I'm going to go with - Mikkeller Barrel-Aged Black Hole (Cognac Barrel), Russian River Damnation Batch 23 - courtesy of Sebowski, and either (or both) Lagunitas Sucks or Founders Breakfast Stout.
Found this tonight in Austin. Good stuff. Is it seasonal? What's the alcohol? Its 5% here, sometime texas makes beer lower their alcohol to sell here, but since this is labled as Ale, it may not apply. Also got my hands on Fresh Hop Mirror Pond from Deschutes. Very similar to the Northern and Southern Hemisphere Harvest issues from Sierra Nevada, which in a word is -- awesome.
I have some Victory Storm King Stout, Short's Good Humans, and Jolly Pumpkin Dark Dawn Stout that will tapped this weekend for sure. What are you fellas breaking out over the weekend?
