What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Watching the game while enjoying an Exit 4 American Trippel. Who knew Jersey could brew such good beer?

Had some of Bud's new Black Label this past weekend. I guess they are selling it here in St Louis earlier than the rest of the nation. I liked it.

Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn DIPA, first time, good stuff.
My "best new beer" of 2012. One of the best beers I've ever had, most likely.
If I had known how good it was, I would have bought more than 1 bottle. I got that and the Hyper Dog Milk Stout, they know what they are doing at Pipeworks.
 never had that one. I've only had a couple of their beers from occasional trips to Chicago. All of them have been great.

Is it epic?
As epic as it's going to get, I guess. A lot darker than I was expecting.
Had 09-12 all together last weekend. 09 was the best I though. 12 probably second.
Stone provides detailed homebrew instructions for the Epic series for hobbyists on their website which is really cool of them (here's the 09 Epic recipe). Some craft brewers provide the basic parameters for their beers online, and some are very secretive. Its very cool of Stone to do this imo. I've gone through them all and am planning to take a shot at the 09 next brewday.

Arcobräu Zwickl Lager  Had this on tap at a place in CT last year and I've kept an eye out for it ever since. My local Total Wine just got some in and it's so damn good. I'm a big fan of the German beers especially Spaten and Paulaner, but this may be my favorite.

Tucking into my last case of Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hop Ale, after losing my 2nd large College Hoops play in 2 nights...On tilt now, and chasing with Gonzaga in about 10 minutes. If they crap the bed, it's going to take putting a pretty serious dent in this case, along with a few long pulls from the Noah's Mill to get anything resembling sleep tonight. Wish me luck!

If you were having 18 of your closest FFA friends over for a three day weekend culminating with the SB on Sunday night. How much beer would you buy and what kind?WE will have a hundred bottles of wine available, and a few handles of tequila, bourbon and Vodka and haf dozen bottles of misc. booze.I'm thinking10 Cases Lone Star3 cases Bombshell Blonde3 cases Fireman's #43 cases Negro Modelo3 cases Independence BootleggersI want to keep it under $500 for beer. Lone Star is no prize, but may need it to bring the cost down enough to slake everyones thirst

If it were me, I'd go for massive quantities of local piss beer over any good brew.

With so many folks coming from out of town, I think local will carry more weight (Austin, TX, the general region, etc)Massive quantities because of the guests that will be showing upJust my :2cents: I think you're on the right path though

I did some rough calculations. Sadly,, they may be conservative:12 beers per day x 20 degenerates x 3 days = 720 beer720/24 beers per case= 30 cases

Really only 2.5 days, so that might help. And :lmao: if we go through 30 cases of beer. Remember some attendees will be with child

I'm drinking a Dundee India Pale Ale out of Rochester NY.Tasty, but not going to blow your mind from an IPA or alcohol perspective. Easy drinker for an IPA, but not in a bad way.

Like no one's going to leave town without a little "hair of the dog"YSR's drinking for two and I am supposed to deduct for that?

Wish I was going to prove you 10,000% wrong. The real thing Cos is missing imo is that peeps won't be at the Oaks the whole time. Way too much beer, but extra beer DOES NOT GO BAD.

Pretty sure Stryker and I could do all 720 in 4 days.

If I came over I wouldn't be excited about anything you listed. Someone mentioned you were in Austin? Get some Jester King in there. If the beer is going to suck make sure you have good ingredients for booze. Fresh limes, lemons good mixers(ginger beer, tonic, soda, fruit juice, flavored soda, sweet and sour....)

I'm thinking

10 Cases Lone Star

3 cases Bombshell Blonde

3 cases Fireman's #4

3 cases Negro Modelo

3 cases Independence Bootleggers

I want to keep it under $500 for beer. Lone Star is no prize, but may need it to bring the cost down enough to slake everyones thirst

If we're going to turn our nose up at free beer, keep in mind that it can't all be Westvleteren XII and Schmitt's Gay. To be fair, I don't think the idea is to taste the hint of dingleberries and fonch after a hoppy finish while opining on the irony of Sam Adams still being called a microbrewery. The idea is to have decent beers that different people from different areas of the country with different tastes can agree on to drink as much as they want of for 3 days.

So you've never turned down a free beer? I have and will many times over. I will never drink a ####ty beer. Ever. I'll take a water please and thank you. Or some Tequila or Scotch please. Perrier? Sounds great. "decent beers that different people from different areas of the country with different tastes can agree on to drink as much as they want of for 3 days." This is much easier to accomplish these day than it used to be. I know I am spoiled by living in the beer capital of the world(San Diego), but I think you can give every guest a variety of beers they may like that are all either brewed locally, or at least owned domestically (i.e. No InBev or Miller/Coors) with just a little effort. This is a good thread. Tell us where you live and we will help.

:lmao: :lmao:And SD as the beer capital of the world is a new one to me. It could just be me though, but when I lived in Belgium for a year, I didn't hear many people talking about wanting to take a beer pilgrimidge to San Diego

Why not get a keg of some decent local stuff and then just supplement with a few cases of these beers? If there are beer snob guys in the group (like me), they'll probably want to make a beer run anyway.

Sebowski might be intimidating to invite to a beer party, but is a great guy to do a trade with. #russianriver

Had the 3 winners from the Bud Project 12 thing last night. They weren't horrible. The local one was drinkable even.

Why not get a keg of some decent local stuff and then just supplement with a few cases of these beers? If there are beer snob guys in the group (like me), they'll probably want to make a beer run anyway.
I really considered this. But its been my experience that when you have a keg, people tend to get much more ####-faced much earlier. I want alcohol-enhanced merriment all weekend, but not really wanting to deal with 20 drunks by 5pm every day.
