What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

When you are back, you should go for more Troegs (Perpetual IPA is great) and also Victory (Hop Wallop 2IPA, especially)
Victory Storm King = one of the best beers out thereTroegs Nugget Nectar (when fresh) is fantastic too.
Yeah, Troegs Nugget Nectar is one of my favorite beers of all-time. I brought some Hopback and Perpetual IPA back with me in my suitcase. We were planning on going up to Hershey to go to the Troegs brewery, but we kind of ran out of time over the weekend and I've been up there before. I'm a huge Troegs fan.

I love Victory Storm King and Hop Wallop as well, but we get all of the Victory beers out here in Colorado, so I don't go out of my way to get them while I'm in PA.

Nugget Nectar is in my top list of beers too. Not often I see it around here but always grab some when I do.

Late winter seasonal. Usually comes out in Feb/March IIRC.

Had some victory about a month ago at a local pub here Cali. I was surprised by the distribution. Good beer.
Yeah, was surprised buckfast said it was available in Colorado. They just opened a second brewing facility, so I guess it makes sense that they would be distributing a lot.

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat isn't half bad.
If you enjoy sipping cough medicine.
I posted in this thread months ago this was the only beer I have ever thrown out. You are correct just like cough medicine. And this is from a guy that as you can tell by my other posts likes just about any beer.
I think you're confused because your cough medicine tastes like cherries and now when something tastes like cherries, it reminds you of your cough medicine. Taste Recognition Memory. There's nothing medicinal about it. It tastes like cherries. Not something I would probably ever order but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

:bs: Try one of these and then you'll know the difference.

Did the entire Stone Vertical Epic series last night thanks to a friend of mine. I've did a barrel aged version of one of them and then a "Grand Cru" of all of them at the end. Only 4 of us, so a little over 5oz a piece. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well they all held up. There were probably only 3 I didn't finish my pour of, and it was because of the style more than quality.

Well? Which one is the best right now?

Midnight Sun Kodiak Brown Ale

Gift from my parents from their recent Alaska trip. Pretty good brown ale....not a style I drink often though.

I really loved 09. You on untappd?

New Albion Ale - some kind of Sam Adams off-shoot. Don't really know the story. Not bad but nothing special.

Shiner Oktoberfest

and my wife asked me to pick up some Sam Cherry Wheat for her. :)

Great Lakes Erie Monster, not my favorite DIPA I have ever had.
A little too sweet for me.
Agreed, unless Great Lakes has another DIPA. I remember having a Great Lakes DIPA and wasn't that excited. In fact, I'm not sure that I'm that thrilled with man of their beers, but for some reason I keep thinking that they are a really good brewery.
Their dark beers are great, IMO, but their lighter (in terms of color) beers are hit or miss for me. I wouldn't turn down a Dortmunder Gold or Commodore Perry etc, but I won't pick them over most solid craft beer options.

Edmund Fitzgerald, however, is one of my favorite beers ever. Blackout Stout (and BA Blackout) are fantastic as well. I drink many of both of those beers all winter long.
Picked up a 6 pack of Edmund Fitzgerald for the USMNT game tonight

I believe I have an account but I've never actually used it. I write ratings at Ratebeer, that's enough for me....

Why? A friend from work just started an Untappd account this past week. A bunch of TBS guys use it too.

Damn I'm jealous. I love Stone.

Black Butte Porter XXV. The standard BBP is a fantastic underrated beer, gb Deschutes.

Mikkelker Saphir Wet Hop Pale Ale
Always want to do some Mikkeler, but never seem to be be able to justify the price. Worth it?
IMO, not really. My experience has been that the hoppy beers are usually a little older and faded by the time I've had them. The stouts are very good but not for like $10/500 mL.

They make great beer, no doubt, but considering what you can get for much cheaper...not really worth it, for the most part. I guess it depends on the person.

ETA - that said, if I see them on a special tap around town, I will usually give it a try. My experience has been that the bottles we get are old...I prefer the fresher tap stuff.

I had it on tap. It was good. worth it I don't know. Nice taste very clean and fresh. I think ot would off been even better if I hadn't had the 2 IPA's before it. Those were stronger beers.

It was $7.75 for the pour so more then the other $6 beers I had but not bad.

I don't like formal style ratings, so I like Untappd. I just give myself little tasting notes for future reference without having to go into full geek mode and break down all the categories (NTTAWWT). Or just log it to make sure I don't accidentally tick it twice. It is also awesome to see what is on tap at various bars and breweries and if my fellow local peeps are out and about.

I'm drinking this Brewmaster's Collaboration Tropical Tripel (9.5% ABV) from Tampa's Cigar City Brewing and Belgium's De Proef Brewery. It is a Belgian tripel brewed with Belgian yeast, a strain of Brettanomyces yeast, American tropical citrus and pine hops, Belgian candied sugar, lactose, toasted coconut, peaches, and toasted oak. This is really one of the most complex and interesting beers I've had in awhile. I think that it is a really interesting fusion of the flavors of a traditional Belgium tripel (banana, clove, candied sugars, pepper) with those of a American IPA (orange, mango, pine) with the peach, coconut, and creamy flavors from the additives. It is a really creative idea that was executed beautifully IMO. A real flavor journey of a beer.

Maybe it's already been covered here, but is SN's Flipside taking the place of the Ruthless Rye, or are they just squeezing it in before the Ruthless?

Not real concerned, I like both, but I think I like the Torpedo better than both still.

When in Columbus....

Columbus IPA

Columbus DIPA

At the brewpub. Solid stuff. Lots of USA shirts and jerseys. No Mexican fans. yet...
