I'm drinking this Brewmaster's Collaboration Tropical Tripel (9.5% ABV) from Tampa's Cigar City Brewing and Belgium's De Proef Brewery. It is a Belgian tripel brewed with Belgian yeast, a strain of Brettanomyces yeast, American tropical citrus and pine hops, Belgian candied sugar, lactose, toasted coconut, peaches, and toasted oak. This is really one of the most complex and interesting beers I've had in awhile. I think that it is a really interesting fusion of the flavors of a traditional Belgium tripel (banana, clove, candied sugars, pepper) with those of a American IPA (orange, mango, pine) with the peach, coconut, and creamy flavors from the additives. It is a really creative idea that was executed beautifully IMO. A real flavor journey of a beer.
