What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Ran out of Natty Light?
You must have me confused with someone else
No, he is making fun of Hopslam. He thinks it's absolute garbage.
No and yes. Maybe I do have him confused. Could have sworn he's trolled some some bud light lime or busch posts in here. Maybe I'm just used to seeing him troll other threads. I do hate hopslam though. Malty *******.
Dead to me

No idea why I haven't seen Hopslam in the local stores yet. Usually, it's here by now. I'm not a huge fan, but...

Tonight, as many a night, I'm drinking a local Cincy brown ale called Gnarly Brown, 7.0% ABV (Madtree). Best damn beer I've tried, and I've tried a lot.

I was in Sioux Falls, SD for work this week, where I actually found some really solid beer bars.

The stand out from the new beers that I tried was Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout. It was really delicious with great barrel character. Central Waters is now on my beer radar.

Other standouts from the Sioux Falls tap selection included Deschutes the Abyss, Deschutes Not the Stoic, and St. Bernadus ABT 12.

Picked up a Pipeworks Crimson Snapper and some Senita (formerly known as Heyoka)
Going to grab some Crimson Snapper today
I'm going to get as much of this as I can.
From what I read, supply is pretty low and demand is really high...which isn't surprising. I got mine at Binny's South Loop last night. The guy had them in the back and said it was the second to last one and they didn't even tweet it out yet.

There are a few places I am going to try that are somewhat under the radar so hoping for more. I was able to grab a Sure Bet at one such place a week ago which surprised the hell out of me. Think they also have Black Tuna on the shelf too.

I'm gonna go to Maggie Valley NC in April. What local brands (NC, Asheville) should I be looking for at liquor store? Probably hit up a liquor store in Waynesville.
NoDa, Green Man, Triple C, Wicked Weed, Old Hickory. I think Westbrook may distribute to NC by then, if so they are awesome. What type of beers do you prefer

last night:

- mikkeller bar San fran, all sorts of goodies, cellarworks in San fran is a new favorite

Today:

- russian River brewing. Fresh pliny, blind pig, lots of sours. Parking violation pale ale was a new favorite. Splurged and got a 2009 temptation, hot damn
Sounds awesome. I love that area. Cellarmaker, btw. And yes, they are one of the best new breweries around. Right up there with the big boys in a very short time.
In June, I am going to Sonoma Valley for a wine trip with family. I'm not sure what town. Is RR near there? I see it's in Sonoma County so I am curious.
RR is about 40min from Sonoma I think. Lots of great bars / restaurants in Sonoma town center too

Thanks. Yeah they are very good!

Sunday had lunch at Monks Kettle. Had Anchorage A Deal with the Devil. Fantastic BBA barleywine. Top 5 beer for me

Troegs Nugget Nectar - just realized I could have picked this up in 16oz cans after I got the bottles. Still awesome, but I would have enjoyed those cans.

Getting in line Monday morning at the local distributor to get a case of Hopslam. One case per car. Insanely priced, stupidly popular, but I'll do it. They usually sell out by late morning. Do I think it's worth the price...no way...there are superior beers for way less. It's just become a bit of a tradition for a few of us at work to go get our cases. The $50 distro gift card my 'rents get me for my bday helps bring the cost down.

Thanks. We should be able to swing that. The in laws have been to Sonoms a bunch of times so they are excited to take my wife and I. All we are going to do is eat and drink. I've heard nothing but great things.

Russian River is in Santa Rosa which is the south end of Sonoma. If you are coming up from SF then you will likely pass through Santa Rosa going up through the valley on 101.

Sonoma is really spread out so it's hard to say how far it is from where you are staying without knowing where you are staying (obviously).Google maps will tell you though. Got me there from St. Helena in Napa in August. Not telling you much you probably don't know already.

Sonoma is cool. You will have a great time.

Just smashed up 4 beers from the Dieu Du Ciel Microbrasserie in Montreal.

Praised this place before, but I gotta be serious... Outside of a few gems in Belgium, few places are as good as this place. Really original and dark/earthy stuff.

soltice d'hiver

rigor mortis

rosee hibiscus (daaaaaaaaaaaaamn good, but a lil fruity)

peche mortel (always, alllllllways)

So good. Please go.

Now having a Jai Alai in a hotel jacuzzi...I'm in Alabama for the night, and the only non smoking room they had was this room...damn the luck. :)

Where did you go? I'm always looking for places to go when I go home to visit the family. Most of SD hasn't caught the craft craze yet.

Gonna stop into Proof Brewing in Tallahassee in 204 miles from now (heading east from Mobile at the moment)...they dont list what's on tap on their website so I'm hoping they have some decent one off stuff.

This brewery is just OK....worth a stop but nothing to write home about. Their Gose is great but they don't have it right now. About to make the 4 hour drive back to Lakeland...Growler in tow...

Castaway IPA to start with. Average but I knew that.

Picking up a sixer of Grapefruit Sculpin on Sunday that is being held for me.
Grabbed two 6 packs of Grapefruit Sculpin. I will be going back for more tomorrow. Wow is this stuff great! Also picked up some new belgium slow ride that they were tasting at the store. Very good session IPA.

Pipeworks Raspberry Truffle Abduction
Did they release more or was this something you were cellaring?
Cellaring sounds like serious business. I would say it is one that I had in my fridge for awhile.

Citra Ninja is coming up in the next release.
lol, well you knew what I meant. Looking forward to the next time that is released.

I love Citra Ninja but would welcome another Nelson release in the next 45 days.

I missed it last time it was released and am very happy I got some this time. Based on what you like this is a perfect beer for you. Tons of grapefruit and hops. Very very citrusy. Zero malt.

I know. Was just being a smartass. It is very tasty.

I agree on the nelson. Big fan. Saving my last one for when I dry hop my homebrew in a week or so with nelson.

Did you see they are doing a sorachi ace vs nelson? That should be interesting.
