What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Damn, FatMAx...youve been a busy beaver writing reviews over at BA. Ive slowed down a bit myself, but need to start up again.

Surprised you dont have any Bear Republic reviews yet.
I really wish I had rated all the beers I've had. I just can't bring my self to start over now. My life would become engulfed in rating beers.
I have never taken the time to rate. Just starting with what I have on hand now I would have my hands full.

 30 friggin lbs :lmao: Im also scheduled to have a case of bombers delivered Friday from Bear Republic....also 30 lbs. :loco:

60 pounds of beer in one week, plus Im in the middle of a trade for some Nugget Nectar, Hop Wallop, and Hop Devil, and I have a friend bringing me some Jolly Pumpkins and possibly some Bells from Michigan next week....

:banned:

After this round of trades, Im done for a while. :suds:
Never had any of those yet but I do have 12 hop devils 12oz in my cellar.

When I first started drinking good beer, I reviewed all the beers I thought were worthy (i.e. top 100, etc)...After a while though, it started to take away form my enjoyment of the beers...making sure I was in front of the PC, taking down every nuance, etc...Now, I NEVER review a beer the 1st time I drink it. That way, I can really sit back and enjoy it. If I happen to have more, I might review it next time. If not, I dont worry about it anymore...

ITS FRIGGIN AWESOME! sorry for yelling. I just like it alot.

You know, I think 99% of my postings here in the last couple months have involved beer.
I was just thinking that myself. I hop back and forth between the 4 or 5 beer threads, and rarely post outside of them. What am I gonna do when football season rolls around??

I don't think I have posted in the Shark Pool since the old yeller days. Back then I had a TON of time at work and was a top 10 or 20 poster.

Thats where I spend most of my time during the season. Itll be nice to get back into the groove of football consuming all of my time instead of beer.

Is anyone elses search bar for Firefox no longer working properly for Beer Advocate?
Yeah, and it's a pissah. Todd's always screwing around with stuff. He has a new search engine. Guess it's incompatible with the Firefox addon. :( I won't even bother mentioning it to him cuz it'll just piss him off and he'll tell me to take a hike. Guess it did make searches on the site a little better since you can add special search characters like ö for Tröegs. Of course, a search for Troegs should result in a match for Tröegs anyway. You shouldn't need to enter a special character.

It's getting a little late, but after reading this I feel like going to grab the one I bought yesterday and giving it a whirl.
Ok, that is a Pilsner with 80 IBU. That makes me say WTF and I really want one all at the same time.

Yeah, I generally feel obligated to review beers that I got via trade, especially from people at BA. I try to review the beers that are difficult for me to obtain. Stuff like Bear Republic is easy for me to get, so I don't get in a hurry to review it.I don't try to really write good reviews. Really, it's just a way to keep track of what I have sampled.

so the BeerAdvocate's are telling me, for a good "chocolate malt" type beer, that Young's Double Chocolate Stout is the way to go... that Rogue's Chocolate is too "hoppy" (at least this is what Venom said)

anyone tried the Young's? anyone have it?

I've had the Young's and thought it was pretty good.

If you want ALOT of chocolate flavor, go with Rogue. Its insanely chocolatey, and you wont find it too hoppy for your taste. Its a really sweet chocolate (opposed to the bitter chocolate taste you get in some stouts). If you want a stout with a nice chocolate kick without being very sweet, go with Youngs. To me, the Youngs is a nice stout with some chocolate, but the Rogue is dessert in a bottle.

Sounds good, I'll have to see if I can find the Rogue around here.

Go Rogue. Had I known you would like it I would have sent you one.

Got the beer of the month club beers today.

Funny enough, Ybor Gold is one of the breweries this month! BIF guys will find that amusing.

And they actually sent us a triple this time around! From the River Horse brewco we got the Hop Hazard and the Tripel Horse.

If you guys like the Rogue, hunt down the Sam Adams Chocolate Bock (I think Tip Top has one he could part with). Its amazingly chocolaty, I actually like it more than the Rogue.

Must have been sitting there for a while. I haven't seen them for almost a year here. Bought a case when they were released. Resold most of them on Ebay for $30+/bottle

or you could donate them to FBGers who live in areas devoid of specialty beer stores.

Went to a different bar than usual last night with my good buddy urbanhack. They had a few things on tap that I hadn't seen around town. The taplist included Great Divide Titan IPA, North Coast Old Rasputin Imperial Stout, Rogue Imperial Stout, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, Flying Dog Horn Dog Barleywine and Gonzo Porter. The Titan is really good on draft.

Don't know where we're headed tonight, but more beer will be drank.

Nah, that was one of those hit it while it's hot things. When I started selling them I got as much as $45. I stopped selling them and used the rest as traders when I was only getting about $20 which was barely over the $14 purchase price.

I may have mentioned this many pages ago, but if you want an interesting desert beer, buy some Lindemans Framboise and pour at most a quarter glass full and top off with your favorite chocolate stout. The rasberry chocolate flavor is very good.

Nice selection. There aren't very many local bars around me that have very much on tap.

not yet. Going camping this weekend so last weekend I went back to World Market to grab some beer to take on the trip. Definitely going next week when I get back though.

 Lindemans Framboise is a tasty drink. I buy it for my wife sometimes to get her liquored up. :pickle: I'll have to try it with a chocolate stout.

Muddy Pig

The Blue Nile

Bryant Lake Bowl

whoa

i've seen several Sam Adams here but not the Chocolate. $30 a bottle is too rich for my blood.
I found it in Chicago for $15 about 6 weeks ago (early March)
I'm pretty sure I saw it at the grocery store near my office a few weeks ago. I didn't pay it much mind though. I had it before but wasn't impressed enough to pay about $14 for it.

Drinking a Sierra Summerfest. Decent for a what it is. Easy drinker. The Troegs Nugget Nectar is chilling however. Big ups to 3C's via Wingnut on this one.
