What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

Troegenator
nuttin wrong with that. decent dopplebock.
 I RARELY drink any beer worthy of mention in here, so I wasnt sure where this stood... in fact wasnt sure if anyone would even know what it was since its just a local beer.
I get all most of the Troegs brews down here. As a few here can attest, I  Nugget Nectar.
Where is here? I am only 10 minutes from the brewery and I dont even know exactly where it is? Whats Nugget Nectar all about?

Virginia. I don't know where the brewery is either. I wish I had known about them when I used to make infrequent visits to Mechanicsburg. :wall: Nugget Nectar is a gift from heaven. It's a winter seasonal, so you'd be hard pressed to find any now. If you like IPAs..this is a good one. A very good one. I'd make the pilgrimage up there to try it on draft.

Santa's is a good medium bodied lager. A hint of some spices without overpowering the balanced flavor and no pretensiousness.

If you like the hazlenut, look for a mocha porter (or even a chocolate). That #### is heaven on earth!

Rogue Chipotle Ale. I am in love. My favorite beer is Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale, but this Chipotle Ale is closing very quickly.
Havent had that one yet. Almost bought one the other day. How spicy is it?
It isn't "hot", just a hint of the spice. A very nice addition to the rotation.

Its in Harrisburg (minutes from Mech-burg). There is a map on the bottom of the case (so I learned at the beer distributer when I bought it)... Ill keep an eye out for the Nugget nectar... THANKS! :banned:

:goodposting: Thanks again, 3C's. I will return the favor one day soon.

I think Rogue gets it right with their seasoned and spiced beer. They do not mask or cover the beer flavor.

I had the chipotle sample at the brewery. It is very smooth and a unique flavor. Both my wif and I really liked it. A good summer beer I think.

Except for their Festivale. What a steaming pile that beer is. Tastes like a home brew experiment gone wrong.

Says the guy in California, AKA "Beer Heaven" :boxing:
I'm making room in my fridge. These dead beats have been there for a while.I plan on doing a lot of shopping tomorrow

Yeah, generally anything under a 3.6 I won't touch :P

In the interest of cleaning out my fridge, I'm moving onto the Brasserie de Rocs Grand Cru

It has nothing to do with it being a top 15 beer in the world.

finally knocked out Winston Smith's St Bernardus 12 last nite

i have to say.. that's the best beer i have ever had. no joke. insanely smooth, very tasty. a little snappy on first snip but it was still way too cold... the last 85% of it was ####### great. seriously.

and at 10% it packed a wallop. that was the only bottle i needed last nite.

:buzzedbanana:

It's great. As is Rochefort 10. They say that Westy is better, but I may never know. :( I haven't had any of the Belgian's in about a year. Might be time to go back.

Rochefort is indeed a great beer, but I still like St. Bernardus better. To me they taste much the same, but the Rochefort has more alcohol in the taste (as it should since it has a higher abv).I don't think I could go a year without a Belgian. The withdrawl symtoms would kill me first.

I would have so much money if I'd never discovered Belgian beer.

I'm getting ready to go out. I need to get an adapter at Radio Shack. It just happens to be near a beer store. I think a Belgian is in my plans for today.

How long does a growler stay good?
I've heard they should be good for about 7-10 days unopened. Once you crack the seal you should drink it within 2 days.
Well, I bottled another bomber of the Masala Mama when I sent the BIF beer on monday. I am going to let it sit for at least two weeks to see how it keeps. If it still tastes great, then I think that would be the best way to ship it going forward.

Now if they would only sell growlers of the Masala Mama

What are u doing? Pouring bottles into a growler? I hear that stuff is good. Maybe one day I'll find myself in a place where I can get some.

I bottled it from a growler I got at Town Hall Brewery.

Picked up 10 bombers of Arrogant ******* when I was in Gatlinburg yesterday. Drinking one right now :banned:
Where the hell did you find AB in Gatlinburg?!!!?!?!?!? Would have grabbed several when I was there a week or so ago on vacation. That said, the Smoky Mountain Brewery does NOT suck, especially in that area.

Update on the Draft Day Imperial Stout Marathon:

Left Hand: jesus is this brew malty smooth. Almost more like an Imperial porter - very little bite from hops or roasted barley, just pours down like water and at 10+%, this is dangerous. Really like that brew.

Stone RIS: Alcohol, hops, malt - has me shaking my head. Almost toffeeish maltiness with smoky/roasty flavors and a solid little hop bite in the finish. Gonna go VERY well with the pulled pork that's almost ready.

More updates later - next on the clock is Middle Ages Dragonslayer, which should prove an interesting counterpunch to the Stone. After that? Southern Tier Javahh Stout - never heard of it or the brewery? You will - they brew some of the best beer in NY State, and that says a LOT.

:banned: It's hard to imagine beer gets much better than that.

And, like you said, a 750ml of Abt 12, and you are good to go.

that was a brilliant beer. seriously. i've gotta find this somewhere near me so i can pick up a half-dozen of these ####### things.

Went with some goose island Honkers Ale and some Bells oberon.

I think may-Sep I do 70% of my drinking.
maybe cause it's so readily available around here.. i just think of Goose Island as a Leinenkugel's or something... but they make quality beers across the board. i really really like the Honkers Ale. it's not knock your socks off, top 10 in the world or anything, but it's just a really good beer.great choice.

OK, I had this earlier. Very good and very unique taste for an IPA, but .... it was nearly flat by the time it got to me. I'm not going to review it on BA just because I'm sure I wasn't getting the true experience.Just letting you know.

That sucks :hot: Going to have to find a better way to ship this.

Check on BA. There was a guy that shipped out the Plineys that he hand bottled. Somebody said that he used CO2 when he bottled? Maybe? Take this with a grain of salt, because I know nothing about home brewing. Either way, thanks for the Masala. It was still good and very drinkable.

That isn't a fair representation of the beer though. I must figure this out so that I don't make people think this is a "drinkable" beer.
