What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Poured a pitcher of Hopdevil :)
You're like a broken record. ;) Had a New River Pale earlier. Just finished off a ReaperAle Deathly Pale. Not too many choices left in the fridge right now. Think I might go Aventinus next. It's that, Samichlaus or Oak Aged Millenium.

Just got back from my trip to the Stuffed Sandwich. Here's my haul:

Luete Bokbier (a Belgian Bock :excited: )

Cantillon Iris

Jolly Pumpkin La Roja (yes I can now get Jolly Pumpkin)

Jolly Pumplin Calabaza Blanca

Echt Kriekenbier

Hopback Summer Lightning

Hopback Thunder Storm English Wheat

Oerbier

And the cream of the crop that Sam hooked me up with...

2005 Alesmith Decadence 10th Anniversary ale

Last but not least, a superb find that will be going into my BIF box...but will remain nameless.
Leute Bok is pretty damned good on tap - never had it in bottle.Niska Day (think fireman's feild days w/o the beer) was all day, so I got a late start. Cracked open a Cisco Whale's Tail Pale Ale from Nantucket, a beer that's so good you could suck it... Really solid, yeasty, bottle conditioned English style pale ale, fruity (like biting into an sweet apple off the tree) with an earthy hoppiness. Dug that 750 big time - wish the beer store had the Bailey's Ale, which is basically the same thing with American style hops. Amazed it didn't gush on me, must have been cold enough.

Following that up with a Wagner Valley IPA - honey-sweet malt witha leafy hop nose with just a whiff of... well, ever been with a really sweet woman, if you get my drift? THAT kind of smell, then citrus-bitter hops over that same malty sweetness. Digging this.

Need to follow it up with something big...neighbors brought over an Ommegang for closing their garage door while they were out of town, but I don't know if that'll cut it. I'm thinking Middle Ages X - 10 hop additions, 10%... yeah, that'll do it.

What, no one else drinking at home with the rest of us :nerd:s?
Trying to slow down a bit. Hit the Stuffed Sandwich early, then got home and had a Cantillon and Sweetwater Festive Ale. Gonna start round two soon here though

How was the Festive Ale? I didn't get one for myself, but I've wondered.

So I go into the beer room to snag a Middle Ages X to put into the fridge. See a box in the corner with some beers in it. What's that Stone bottle cap? Hmm... forgot I had that Double *******. And look - an Alaskan Smoked Porter right next to it.

:pickle:

Sometimes it's fun to be a forgetful schmuck. :banned:

It was ok. The spices were a bit off balanced. I'm in the process of writing up a review now, should be shortly up on BA.

Says the guy with Hopdevil on tap. I think you both suck.

OK, I'm back on track...New Glarus Edel-Pils is on deck. Lordy how I love a New Glarus that I haven't tried.
Mmmm... pils! There's a brewpub on Martha's Vineyard that does a rye pils that I ABSOLUTELY NEED to try. Plus the brewer, Matt Steinberg, is a seriously cool guy - if you go to a BA Fest, go see him and start talking beer. You'll be glad you did.

Keg? Not yet. My beer guy didn't call me back today like he was supposed to. God, if he can get what I asked for I am in trouble....

started with a 750ml Chimay Red and then went to a Spaten Optimator. Trying to decide now on having my first Belhaven Wee Heavy, or saving it for when my taste is not as dulled and going with my favorite, Paulaner Hefe.

I'll make it to a BA fest one of these days.

Offshore. He came into a bar at the last fest and I thought he was just some regular drunk.

If there are any left, let me know. I could hook you up.
New Glarus certainly does have a lot of beers and I've liked everything I've tried (some more than others obviously). Anything thats outstanding that you can get that I haven't received I'm down for.

Good Lord! :scared: You better warn your poker buddies......twice!

Trying a North Coast Red Seal Ale. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not crazy about this beer so far. Just not as balanced as other beers I've had recently. Not a bad beer, but not that great either.

I live in La. and we usually drink the regulars. BL, Coors, Miller or anythinf else that will get you drunk. I personally prefer BL and I am at about 12 right now. I like other imports but the US brew is what we grew up on and I guess that is where I will stay when it comes to drinking at the house. CHEERS TO ALL!!

You've got an ### load of beers rated at BA Bakes. I've got a long ways to go :kicksrock:
I've been there for three years give or take. I just look at the #s and think "Yep, I like beer too much" and then crack open a cold one. :banned: That's nothing. Check out Venom's reviews.

I imagine I'd have over 2,000 if I had rated all the different beers thru my life. It was a difficult decision to begin rating after all this time, but I'm willing to give it my all. :banned: Back to work :D . I think I could use an imperial stout. Lets see whats cold...

Rob, give some of the micros a try. You may be pleasantly surprised. If not, the regulars will be there for ya... but if you can still find Schlitz, I'm dead serious here, try it. Better than any of the big 3 and a good sight less expensive as well. Plus you can hike your shorts up around your chest and pretend you're 60.

Bax and I have had discussions about how many Bud's, etc we think we could drink. Since we are used to much more, the number is bound to be very high.

not crazyi've been to two liquor stores this week and both had it in abundance. unless something changed and they're just selling off their stock... i dunno.

drank a bottle of Rogue Dead Guy and another of the Bell's Two Hearted tonite (might be the 2nd favorite behind St Bernardus 12... great beer).. plus one, about which i've been sworn to secrecy.

You have access to some damn fine beers in NY. I wish someone would ship to you in BIF to get this over with. I'd like to work out a trade on the side but don't want to water down the BIF sending pool :hot:

NO ####!!!That's great. Seriously. One of the bartenders at Mahar's, when he hit beer number 2,000 on the beer tour, was given the choice of having any brew he wanted on tap. He chose... Schlitz. Took Mahar a good three weeks to find a keg because it's just not available on tap in the Northeast.

Of all the basic American light lagers, I'll take Schlitz any day of the week.
