What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (8 Viewers)

I live in La. and we usually drink the regulars. BL, Coors, Miller or anythinf else that will get you drunk. I personally prefer BL and I am at about 12 right now. I like other imports but the US brew is what we grew up on and I guess that is where I will stay when it comes to drinking at the house. CHEERS TO ALL!!
Rob, give some of the micros a try. You may be pleasantly surprised. If not, the regulars will be there for ya... but if you can still find Schlitz, I'm dead serious here, try it. Better than any of the big 3 and a good sight less expensive as well. Plus you can hike your shorts up around your chest and pretend you're 60.
:lmao: saw Schlitz on tap today in Two Rivers. no joke. almost had one at 2 PM just cause it was there.
NO ####!!!That's great. Seriously. One of the bartenders at Mahar's, when he hit beer number 2,000 on the beer tour, was given the choice of having any brew he wanted on tap. He chose... Schlitz. Took Mahar a good three weeks to find a keg because it's just not available on tap in the Northeast.

Of all the basic American light lagers, I'll take Schlitz any day of the week.
That gave me a good chuckle, thanks.

They didn't know crap about BWFH in Hudson, btw :hot:
oofwell i confirmed with my guy that he ordered 2 cases of it.. delivery due this Friday.

might have to start taking orders over here.
Just going to tell you now that if I can't get it and am not on your short list I will take the drive to do what is neccessary.

seriously. me and the missus went off the radar today to do something different... wandered on down to Two Rivers.. it was on tap at a little local down there. they had the basics. Miller, Bud, etc. and SCHLITZ!there are PLENTY of places in Milwaukee that have it on tap. the place i used to play softball for has a Schlitz neon sign out front.. it was on tap there as well.

:lmao: i MIGHT be able to grab a handful. some of it is already ear-marked for trades.. but IF the guy pulls through and actually gets the 2 cases (despite confirmation i'm still holding my breath... even though Tyranena has stated that the BWfH will be more widely distributed) i can probably snag what's necessary

PM me before Friday and we can hammer it out.

You've got an ### load of beers rated at BA Bakes. I've got a long ways to go :kicksrock:
I've been there for three years give or take. I just look at the #s and think "Yep, I like beer too much" and then crack open a cold one. :banned: That's nothing. Check out Venom's reviews.
I imagine I'd have over 2,000 if I had rated all the different beers thru my life. It was a difficult decision to begin rating after all this time, but I'm willing to give it my all. :banned: Back to work :D . I think I could use an imperial stout. Lets see whats cold...
You have access to some damn fine beers in NY. I wish someone would ship to you in BIF to get this over with. I'd like to work out a trade on the side but don't want to water down the BIF sending pool :hot:
I hear ya!!! Some of the Cali brews just kick serious booty as well - and as I'm currently in my hophead phase (as soon as fall comes I WANT MALT!!! but spring and summer? Bring on the lupulin!!!!) it's been "do I go local or West Coast???" every time I hit the beer store. Helluva fine dilemma. There are a lot of good beers available here. I do get a lot of beer from travelling around the Northeast, though. If I go somewhere, damn straight I'm gonna find the local micro. Helps having family from Boston to Charlotte. REALLY helps having NC finally pop the cap.

Sorted thru my selection and chose a Founders Imperial Stout. Haven't had this one yet so looking forward to it.
I thought about picking up a 4 pack of this today even though the style isn't my thing. For some reason I turned down their Red's Rye Too

link

Maybe its still on the market? Once it sells out its gone.
well... i'd say email the brewer but they guy doesn't respond so....all i can say is i've seen it all over the place.. hell Wal Mart has it.
LOL @ buying craft beer at Wal-Mart :lmao:
for realthat's just how ubiquitous New Glarus is around here.

i can smell the jealousy, Skylord.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Dude, I buy Arrogant *******, Ruination and Bear Republic at the local grocery store. I'm doing ok.

You'd like the rye, more piney bitterness than one would think. I gave it a 4.05

I know, I read your review when I got home and regretted it immediately.

How many beers do you have around your house right now? Last time you mentioned some ridiculous number.I think I probably have around 60, give or take a few dozen.

Are they all IPA & DIPAs or are you venturing out of that realm?

No, I have Expedition, Kalamazoo, and NG Cherry Stout. Ton of diffent barleywines. A good assortment of Belgians. Scotch, Brown, Amber, some of everything. I do have a lot of hoppy brews though.

I still have to rate all three of those stouts you mentioned. What a drag ;)

Forgot some North Coast Old Ale, a ESB or two, a Porter, Bock(s)....

Tip Top has to work in 5 hours. Oot for the night. No more beer for now. Will keep everyone posted on the quest to finish the keg.

On to the Middle Ages X. Wow has this one matured after five months. Almost a whiskeyish nose, if whiskey had hops in it. Alcohol is becoming more pronounced, then it fades into an almost floral hop/malt balance followed by an grapefruity bitterness with some fresh red bell pepper (and I haven't had THAT in two days). Yet the burp is almost all hops. Really wild transformation.

:hot: What do I have to do to get some Middle Ages?

A long time ago in this thread, I think we were talking about a new Belgian Triple IPA. Perhaps it was Kilgore who was mentioning it...

Was it Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel?

Wait'll after BIF. Maybe during. Depends how the dice roll. Are you feeling lucky? ;)

That'd be the one. A friend tried it - loved it. Weirded his ### right the hell out, but loved it.

I had it on tap today at the Stuffed Sandwich. It was really nice, very surprising. Not common to get grapefruit undertones in a Belgian :loco:

Yep, KT and I were discussing that one. Yet another that I can't get in this beer hell known as New Orleans.

Yep.
Just finishing my first glass. Its everything a great Belgian Triple should be, with the twist being that it is hopped like no other Belgian that I have had. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thick three finger head. Tastes like a regular Belgian Triple with peppery/clove flavors as well as the warming slightly sweet alcohol taste that is aided by the candy sugar used to brew it, but the hop bite takes it where no Triple has gone before. Not as citrusy or hoppy as the West Coast DIPA's, but the overload of Saaz adds a bitter crisp finish that lingers just long enough on your tongue to want to take another sip.

Quality beer. Makes me want to brush the dust off the brewing equipment and try to brew my own Belgian hybrid, but using West Coast hops instead.

Thats right, I remember your feedback now. Really wish there was an easy way to search threads...this beast has grown to unbrowsable proportions. If the post was made more than two days ago, its lost forever :wall:

Wow, I'm just catching up. Looks like I missed a busy evening yesterday. The G/F was gone last night, so I decided to kick back and watch a movie. I had already had a couple of Lagunitas Censored Red Ales, and a couple of Sudwerk Pils at this point. Maybe something else too.

So I popped 'Walk the Line' in the DVD player, poured a Duvel 750ml and started watching. When that was done, I refilled with a Stone RIS. In hindsight, that probably wasn't the best idea. When that was done, I was pretty loaded. Or I should say, I must have been pretty loaded, because I fell asleep right there on the couch for three hours. The G/F woke me up when she got home and ushered me into bed. I woke up early for screaming piss that was dying to get out, and noticed that she wasn't in bed with me. I knew immediately what hapenned. She went to the spare bedroom because I was snoring like a chainsaw. This tends to happen when I plowed out of my mind. Whoops.

I find myself cracking RIS's near the end of the evening as well, probably a habit that should be broken. Last night it was the Founders imperial stout that did me in.

Mic Ultra Amber...It's no Shiner Bock, but it beats the hell outta Bud Lite.
Allow me to take off my :nerd: for a sec...How is the amber compared to the standard ultra? I used to drink ultra as a palate cleanser between beers because it tasted like, well water. Does the amber actually have any flavor?

Again, it's no Shiner, but it does have some body. Very lite tasting, but has a good flavor. Shiner Bock>>Red Stripe>Dos XX Amber>>>Amber Ultra>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bud Lite>>>>>Corona>>>>Heinecan(sp)=horse urin/skunk butt

Ok, all this reading about beer made me thirsty. Having a Racer 5. Sure am glad that I can make a 15 minute drive to get this stuff now.

   I really need to try that one, and soon.

I was discussing brewing a homebrew sort of like this with George DePiro, the brewer over at the Pump Station and an award winning homebrewer in his own right. I figured something around 6%, Belgian yeast, heavy duty Munich malt, candi sugar, and Saaz out the wazoo. He sort of looked at me funny and said "...okaaaaay..." :lmao:

Having a Weihenstephaner Hefe. I like it, but I think I like Paulaner and Schneider better.
One of my favorites. Recently had the Ayinger Brau Weiss, and it was pretty damn good, too.
I tell you what, after this one warmed up a bit, it got even better. Or maybe it was just that much better after working in the garage for an hour.

Started with a Duck Rabbit porter while cleaning out the beer cellar - nice, basic, oily porter, not overly roasty or heavy, just a basic good drinkable beer.

Beer cellar finds: More ten year old homebrew that needs to be dumped than I feel like dealing with at the moment, several bottles I didn't know I had, and a dusty, cobwebbed stash of a homebrewed lambic that used (in part) whatever my buddy and I could culture up from the bottom of a bottle of Cantillon. One bottle is currently chilling because, if I'm going to try this stuff, it's going to be late tonight so if gastric disturbances occur it'll be on the company's dime. Do I feel lucky? :ph3ar:

Keep us updated (more on the quality of homebrew and less on gastronomy).
