What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

alright I'm going to ask a real stupid n00b question - I know what a growler is, but what exactly is a bomber?
22oz bottle
only a 22oz. or any of the big bottles (like the 1 pint 9 oz. bottles, etc.)?
AFAIK, just the 22oz. The 16.9 is a German half liter. I know, it's just a half liter, not a German half liter, but I've been drinking Hefe's all day, so it's a German half liter.

popped in at my hidden secret store up here.. they are really knocking the ball outta the park lately.  they hired on some younger guy who's in to the craft brews.. does a little home brewing.

he's "suggesting" some great stuff.

copped two brand new beers, another Fantome Saison (yes!), an Avery Maharaja and an Okocim Porter.
Furley, did you try the Okocim Porter yet. I pimped that a couple of months ago somewhere in this thread. It is easily one of the best Porters I have ever had. Knowing your preferred style a little, I bet you would really enjoy it.
not yet. it's on my radar though... maybe tomorrow.i did the St Bernardus circle tour tonite.. courtesy of Skylord

one after the other they kept getting better and better. kicked it off with the Pater 6 and i thought "damn this is a ####### great beer!". then i had the Prior 8 and thought "this is a ####### faaaaaaaaaantastic beer.. this is how they should taste." then i had the Tripel and thought i'd died and went to heaven.

jeebus.. St Bernardus is my new favorite anything.

Oh yeah, and having my first DFH 120 tonight.  The 90 was pretty hoppy for me so this could be interesting.
120 is potent. Gonna want to take it sloooowww.
I did, but I'm still feeling it. Not like last night when I put away a serious volume, but that tipsy feeling is there.Excellent beer - not nearly as hoppy as I expected based on the DFH 90. Maybe the alcohol masked it some, but suspect I'll have to try the 90 again to make sure

Did a few of the potsie BIF batch. Initial impressions:

Yazoo Pale Ale - REALLY well balanced. Hoppy but not overbearingly so on the Amarillo tangerine-ey-ness, with a good malt/grain flavor. Different from a lot of pale ales - happy that I have another bottle to figure out why.

Blackstone Kolsch: Incredibly clean - absolutely no off flavors, which is VERY hard to do on this (or any other lower alcohol) style. Plenty of Vienna malt with a solid noble hoppiness.

Sweetwater IPA: Almost identical to Southern Tier IPA, which is a very good thing, as it's one of my all time favorite IPAs. Citrus hops and caramel malt - yummy!

Terrapin Rye Pale Ale: The rye adds a tasty spiciness to a great American Pale Ale - I could drink this all day long, all summer long, and never complain, not even once.

ANYONE who says that the Southeast is a beer wasteland needs to try these four brews. Are they Hop Devil or DFH 90 minute? Not quite, but damn if they aren't nipping them at the heels. And for a hot day? Built for the purpose.

Break in the glass proper?

 and felt damned cool doing it too.

Started off early with some Warsteiner drafts at the bar. Now having the Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse. Tremendously delicious beer. Seriously.

90 degrees outside. Digging 3 foot deep holes for a fence. 2 holes down. 2 beers down. 26 more holes to go. :banned:

i would bet good money that that ratio does not keep up. I would say, 3:1 beers to holes ratio soon.

Probably. I'm in no hurry. :banned:
Dammit. Wife went over and told the neighbor I was working on the fence. He's gonna come over tomorrow with his tractor and use the auger to make quick work of the holes. I was hoping to make this a month long beer drinking project. St. Georges Golden Ale

St. Georges Lager

Alexandria Ale

I'm running low on cold stuff. I have a few dozen different beers that aren't chilled. Might have to throw a few in the fridge. I might even tackle the Alesmith Grand Cru, finally.

Cool. I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Had a Paulaner Hefe and a Shiner Bock earlier over at a buddy's house. Home now and drinking a Ruination, courtesy of Skylord. This IPA has lived up to its billing. Tons of hops and flavor. I love it! This will probably be it for tonight. Can't imagine anything else being a worthy followup to this.

DFH 60 minute

Founders Pale Ale (2)

That was my list tonight. Nothing special, but both are quality enough. Founders is worth a try, and lived up to billing as a dry-hopped Pale Ale (says so right on the front of the bottle). Not the best beer I've had this weekend, but then again, it DID follow the 60 minute, so that's a hard act to follow.

Along your journeys, do you ever see the Founders Breakfast stout?

I do. At a couple places here. I usually buy all their stock, then line the bottles up and break them and let the nasty witches-brew spill out into the parking lot drain. Better to get rid of that crap Prohibition-style than allow it to corrupt young innocent lives.

I know you all have been awaiting my DFH RDE quest. Got 2 out of the singles today at the store. Passed on having one in favor of another rasputin. Holy crap. Can a beer be any more perfect? Seriously.

Dallas mavericks = 3-0 when I consume a North Coast beer while watching.

Holes are done. Even with a tractor w/auger it took another 4 hours. I'm tired. Hit the septic lines a few times. :wall: No damage though. This Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel is mighty damn good right now.

 Did yall have a good weekend, too??
Pretty good weekend here. Friday night poker and many beers at my place. Saturday afternoon out on the Patio at Town Hall drinking their Warrior DIPA, then bachelor party festivities at night. Yesterday some landscaping then beers and dinner at my dad's.
