What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (9 Viewers)

Beer Run!

The list:

(2) Three Flyods Dreadnaught
Hi buddy.
Brown-noser.
When can you be here tonight? And bring something for the grill. Also might want to bring a jacket, it's kinda chilly here now (58') and should get a bit nippy tonight. One final note - no cuddling between us. Furley's not gonna be here after all. And if he is, you can bet yer baloney he'll be nekked. And we'll all be running away. After securing the beer in the safe in the basement of course. I'll be damned if I let that guy's hideous nekked body keep me from securing the beer. Some things you just gotta work through.
HIDEOUS?HAVE YOU SEEN MY PROFILE?????????
Yes. But I always assumed that you used one of those pictures that come with the picture frames from the store. Who's that? Your adopted cousin?

On to a Tyranena Stone Tepee Pale Ale.  :banned:
thoughts?i really liked this one.... not mind-blowing or anything. just a good, solid, very drinkable beer.
I think you described it well. Not as good as the Two Hearted but a solid brew.
 just passed over the one in my fridge in favor of a Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout courtesy of my brother

glad to hear you like it

:lmao: that's actually a male model that was at my brother's wedding. handsome devil, no?

i am.. this is a really good beer. gave it a 4.4 on the BA.

only hindrance for me is the slight minty taste. that's about the only thing that would keep me from slamming a dozen of these.

btw - what's your BA name?

Just got back from my BIF shopping. My last stop was the Pizza Port brewco @ the Carlsbad location. Had a pint of Dubbelicious & Wipeout cask conditioned IPA.

surprised you didn't just get a hotel in Carlsbad and sleep off the drunk from Pizza Port.

I had hundreds of dollars worth of beer in my car and its in the 80's there. By the time I made it to my car the next morning all the beer would be bad.Trust me...not only do they have 15 pizza ports on tap, they have 15 guest breweries including Pliney the Elder, etc. I thought long and hard about it....

:o that's one hell of a beer shopping trip.

Geary's Hampshire Special Ale is the brew of the night. I'm liking this one more than most of the stouts I've had lately. But Maine specializes in stouts it seems so that's what I've been drinking lately (had Sebago Lake Trout Stout this afternoon, too).

I have issues. And the Holiday Wine Cellar is BA's #1 ranked San Diego beer store for a reason. Things got ugly. But I found a 2003 Cantillon Framboise for only $21

yeah, I have the empty bottle sitting in my room :D I liked it ok. I'm thinking that I'm not a stout guy though. They have a bunch of bombers at the local market here though so I could send some out to you if you want to trade at some pt. I'm still working on developing my taste preferences.

I found that this market also had growlers from the Oak Pond Brewery, another Maine brewing pillar. It appeared to be an excellent deal @ $6 for a half gallon (considering Cadillac Mtn. Stout is $4/bomber) and some of the Oak Pond beers are actually well reviewed.

Are growlers somewhat common?

In a few hours im going to break into a few of these.

i'm fairly new at this too.. but i think most of the respectable brewpubs will have growlers.i'll keep you in mind for future trading. are you nase at BA too?

I am positive that you are phishing here. Mostly I hope you can't be THIS oblivious...

how 'bout reviewing some beers there, George?
I haven't quite gotten to that point yet. I will though. I promise. But I want to go a little longer down this path of beer excellence before I start writing prose over there. Also, I am hoping to stay away from the BS high-fallutin' language I read in many reviews.Like Buffy the Vampire Slayer said:

"Beer good."

Hey Skylord, do you cellar Barley Wines like Bigfoot, Old Horizontal, etc? If so, are there years you have liked better than others?

nah, i may or may not been embellishing but he's more or less been called out by two other people in the thread. it's the belfast bay thread in the new england section.

For the most part, I think they use the same recipe year in/year out with Barleywines. Trick is to just get some age on them so the flavors round. I think three years is about perfect, but I have a 2000 Old Numbskull to try here soon....perhaps six years is good!

I just bought some Bigfoot today as part of my shopping trip. Just a 6-er. Figured I can put a couple in the wine cellar and see what happens. Putting away a DFH 120, and 4 GI Imperials. Want to see how those do over different times.

Just has been talk on the BA boards about which years they have like more on the Bigfoot. I know they don't change it up like the Anchor xmas, but was curious to see if anyone knew of any differences in the vintages.
