What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

hey FatMax, have you had the Butte Creek Organic Revolution X Imperial IPA yet?  Picked up a bottle but haven't cracked it yet.  Getting ok reviews online
No, I haven't seen it (that i know of). It was probably at Bevmo, but honestly I don't even look at Butte Creek anymore. The only beer of theirs that I enjoyed is their winter seasonal.I might buy some next time I'm in the store, but I've had some bad luck with organic brews. I honestly can't think of one that could even be considered above average.

Had the Aprihop and Hopdevil from Tip Top. Bother were great. The Aprihop was especially good since it was hot oout. Also put down about 3 SNPA and 5 Firestone Pale Ales. Now, ontomy list drink of the night, **drum roll*8a growler of Masala mama from Tip Top. :banned: :banned:

This is often a mistake. Drink the best beer at the start of a driking session, not the end of one. In this case, the SNPA were your best bet to end the evening.

Gator,Listen to the professional. In most other things, it IS best to save the best for last. Not in this instance. Sorry, man, but you should save that MM for another day when you can start out with that bottle.

I'm just speaking from experience. :bag: I've kicked myself the next day for polishing off a really great beer when I was drunk the night before.

"Sir, step away from the Westvleteren. I think you have been over-served.""No way!!!!! I'm gonna do it!"

9:00 pm here in NY. Went to a barbeque this afternoon at a friend's. Wife drove home and I have been drinking Heineken lights all day long. Had a few marquaritias before dinner, and am feeling fine right about now.

"You have chosen wisely."

Currently trying a DFH Midas Touch. Gotta admit, not what I'm used to. The smell on this one is weak compared to the really hopped-up beers. But that's to be expected. It claims to be a "handcrafted ancient ale". Not sure what that means. Says it has Muscat grapes and saffron, among other things. Slightly sweet flavor, given the ingredients. I like it, but can't say it's one of their best offerings. Better than an Old Milwaukee Lite though.

Im gonan crack my growler of Kuhnhenn Creme Brulee Java Stout, and follow that with a Raspberry Eisbock

My mom is even gonna try em both out.

Currently drinking... nothing. Just got back from a weekend of paintball in southern NJ and am exhausted. Gonna look in the beer fridge and see what I can find for a wind-down brew.

Friday: Just a single SN Celebration 2005.

Saturday: Mixed up some more Celebration with an Aventinus...SERIOUSLY good beer there. At 8.2%, it manages to still be very light and refreshing. WOrthy of the #29 ranking it has over at BA.

Sunday: Had a Hoegaarden, followed by a DFH Immort Ale. I really hate to say it, but I simply don't like it. Just too much going on in that one.

Which, the Immort ale?

Had my first barleywine last night. It was, umm, interesting. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't my favorite thing in the world either. I would, however, like to try a well known very good one. Recommendations?
Your first foray into barleywines should be Bigfoot.

:goodposting: I have 4 different years of Bigfoot on hand at the moment.

f'n TT :hot: I still haven't mastered the patience to sit on a beer that's that good. Although I do have a 2003 Old Stock ale that I've resisted the temptation of so far.

My favorite Barleywine that I have had is the Old Ruffian from Great Divide, but there are still a few big name ones out there that I have not tried. But yes, a Bigfoot is a great starting point.

Yeah, the Immort. Just a STRANGE brew. Hits you upfront with a smoky, oak flavor which just isn't all that pleasant to me. Wish I would have grabbed a different DFH brew when I was last in FL, since they don't sell it here  Hoegaarden is always a nice easy drinking brew. Not the best of its style, but far from the worst.

I haven't had the Immort ale yet. I think I have one coming in the mail though, if Liquid Solutions ever decides to ship...

placed an order with Sam's last week. they botched it. i got 2 different bottles of beer than what i ordered. the packing slip had the correct info on it.. they just sent 2 different beers. beers that weren't even listed on the site.

well, i have to say... phenomenal response from Sam's.

i called and expected them to tell me just to ship the beer back.. which would have been fine. i'd have asked for them to pay shipping or something but.. no big deal. i can wait another week as i don't plan to drink them for a while anyways.

so, they guy i spoke with says "we have 2 options"

Option 1: Sam's sends me the correct order w/ a "return box" so i can send them back the bottles of beer that were mistakenly sent.

or

Option 2: I keep the incorrect order and they give me a credit for the total of the order ($25) and i can use that to buy more beer at another time.

well.. the way i see it is i can get 2 bottles of beer out of of it. or i can take advantage of their extreme act of kindness, keep the 2 i have, and then have a $25 credit to buy more beer!

win/win where i come from.

If you spend ANY time in this thread, you'll find this is an ordinary exchange for Furley.

 Things I would try:

Baron Brewing Co. Seattle, WA

Uber-Weisse (WeizenStarkbier)

Elliott Bay Brewing Co. Seattle, WA

Demolition Ale (Strong Pale Ale)

Knit Wit (Imperial Belgian Wit)

Mac & Jacks Brewing Co. Redmond, WA

Mac & Jacks IPA (IPA)

Northern Lights Brewing Co. Spokane, WA

Crystal Bitter (NW Style)

Silver City Brewing Co. Silverdale, WA

Whoop Pass Double IPA (Double IPA)

Water Street Brewing Co. Port Townsend, WA

Big Phatty (Imperial Red)

Queen Nina's (Imperial IPA)

This is just a quick view of the styles I would try out. Great local flavor in that festival, I wish I were coming up this month instead of next. (I get one night at the Portland Brewers Festival though).

Seriously. I haven't even heard of a lot of those breweries.

 Neither have I, and that's what would make the sampling so fun. There will be some stinkers, but you will definitely find a few beers that are outstanding as well. I said it in this thread earlier, beer festivals may be as close to heaven as I will ever get on earth (granted I'm with the right people).

Drinking Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on the tap at a cozy resort in San Diego on a business trip. Great beer. Great place. Good times.

Help!

Stuck in a town in Mexico with nothing but Corono, Carta Blanco, odelo and Pacifico.
In this thread, we can be friends. As far as the beer, ouch. Not familiar with the Odelo. I have heard there is a microbrewery out of Mexico called Casta, and the Casta Moreno is supposed to be pretty good (the rest of their beers are supposed to be good too). I would be hitting the tequila myself.
