What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

okay.

one of the BA's said he found it hard to believe that people labeled the Dreadnaught "citrus". he said it was "like drinking a bottle of Pine-Sol".

but the guy's pretty critical of almost everything so...

Here's what I said:S: If you put hops thru a juicer then poured it into a glass, thats how this beer smells. Various degrees of tangerine, cedar with a touch of tin. Hints of alcohol as a high note.

T: Starts sweet, honeylike. Citrus notes immediately flare..first lemon then mandarin. Finishes pine cone resiny with a healthy bitter smackdown at the back of the tongue. And the bitterness doesn't let up. It beckons the mouth for more, taunting the tongue for another sip.

interesting.

okay.. well... i probably won't have one for a very long time if reports of 3 Floyd's running low on inventory are true.

My Liquid Solutions order finally shipped. I can't even remember what the package containes anymore. At least it will be a nice surprise.

Ahh. My other usual choice for "grouchy BA."

 Hope it's a good bottle. Anyone who has ever seen the place (or been there) will vouch that things can be hit or miss.

This is probably the driest stout I have ever had.

Aside from Archer and Liquid Solutions, are there any other good "mail order" beer stores?

I never worried too much, because of Indiana's stone-age beer laws, but I do have friends in IL and OH who would be willing to "receive".

Liquid Solutions has a number of beers I can't get here or within driving distance. I've tried or heard good things about these, any others to look for?

- Alaskan

- Ale Smith

- Deschutes

- Lagunitas

- Mad River

- Marin

- Moylan's

Curious about your thoughts on the Rabid Rabbit and Midas Touch.

Im losing my love for all things hoppy. I think Ive overindulged over the last year and a half and I find myself not being in a hoppy mood at all lately. IPAs just dont sound good to me in the last month or so. I may have to turn in my hophead card for a while. Right now, its all about the roastiness of stouts and the sweetness of hefes.

Ive been told that I will burn myself out on hoppy beers within 2 years, and I think its starting to happen. And that sucks cause I have a ton of hoppy beers around the house but keep reaching for other styles.

I guess thats the cool thing about the many different styles of beer -- if you get sick of one for a while, theres plenty of others to drink in the meantime.

:banned:
When I first started drinking craft brew in '92 I was looking for the good pale ales then I naturally started going for more hoppy beer. By 95 I was a full fledged hophound. Around 98-99 I started throttling back on the hops and got heavily into Belgians and German beers. Then to hefes and lagers in the early 2000's. Granted I would have all the verietals during these years just my preferences were changing. But since 2004 I have gone back to the hop. Now its all hop all the time again. I've seen it become quite cyclical for me.

SN IPA.

After drinking some of these really god beers i just cant drink the regular pale ale anymore.

Just bought a six pack of the new Fat Tire. It's pretty good. It is their summer seasonal and is called Skinny Dip. Anyone who likes a hoppy summer beer should give it a try. Also had a summer wheat with lunch today at the local brewerey. CHEERS!!!!! :banned: :banned:

- Alaskan (nothing special but not bad by any means, their smoked porter is worth seeking out and I like it with barbecue)

- Ale Smith (haven't had)

- Deschutes (Obsidian Stout and Black Butte Porter are excellent brews, Mirror pond is pretty good for a pale ale, not a bad summer brew)

- Lagunitas (they make some really good beers)

- Mad River (doesn't get the best reviews at BA, but I really enjoy their Jamaican Red, the Steelhead Stout, and their IPA)

- Marin (remember them being good but it's been a good 3 years since I've had one)

- Moylan's (Really enjoy their brews, Kilt Lifter is a great change of pace and their Moylander DIPA is great, other beers are very good as well)
My 2 cents.

John's Grocery is worth checking out. I made my first online order with them Monday and received it today! Prices were cheaper than Liquid Solutions and the freight was a lot cheaper also (I live in TN and John's is in Iowa so it's a lot closer to me than Liquid Solutions).

Here's what I got --> :pics: :pics: :pics:

Keep testing out my BOTM entry that's somewhat new to me. Still think it's a keeper. It's a little odd that it's got a mild mouthfeel, but a hoppy finish. I guess that's characteristic of a "pale ale" where an "india pale ale" is hops first ask questions later?

Right?

Was there some sort of agreement that when I got back home and started posting again, everyone would agree to be offline for the first day?

That would have been funny. I've just been busy. Now trying to figure out why the font on only this board is so tiny.

Im not drinking right now as Im a bit under the weather....some sort of cold/flu thing. I did have a 24oz Yeungling draft at the Chappelle show tonight, but it was tough to get down.

Wingnut, is there anything I could send you from that massive list (and I have much more on hand) to get a Rasp Eisbock?

Sam Adams Brown Ale.
Almost never get Sam Adams and Browns are notoriously boring. How is this one?
You should try the Brewmaster Collection. A sixer of two each. Dark Ale, Brown Ale, and Hef. Nothing special but a solid mixer-upper once in a while.
Man, I would have a hard time making sense of buying more beer right now. You did see my post of what I came back to town with right?
