frrreal.. i had it in Brussels. had to pour it out. blech. tasted horrendous. and this was fresh beer, off the tap. it was just too bizarre. the chunks were off-putting but the flavor was 5 times worse.
EKU 28 is a hugely strong beer (eisbock, 11% abv). It SHOULD NOT have chunks, and assuredly did not leave the brewery that way. It may have been on tap, but I suspect it was NOT fresh. Could also have been dirty draft lines, if it wasn't selling very quickly.
28's not an eisbock (there is another Kulmbacher eisbock), just a REALLY STRONG and syrupy doppelbock. I always found it almost too sweet, but it'll kick your ### in a hurry. I never saw chunks of anything in it, and I've drank probably 2 cases and 6 pints of it in my lifetime.True story (may have told this one before): Picked up a sixer of it in college for $6.99. Had one, housemate comes in, asks what it is, I tell him "German brew" so he has one. He heads off to photography class. Fast forward an hour. Phone rings. "What the hell was in that beer you gave me?" "Why?" "Because I had one of 'em and I'm FLYIN'!!" "Umm, it's around 12% alcohol." "Christ, no wonder I can't get any pictures developed here." "So? I'm halfway through my third bottle." "You sick puppy..."
