What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Rouge Shakes Stout + dry rubbed sirloin on the grill =

A) Waste of good beer

B) Waste of good beef

C) I hate so far don't like stouts so how would I know
That should read:"C) I haven't found the right stout to introduce me to the style."
Thats why I put "so far". f'n Nuclear George :hot:
Your "fix" was ambiguous. Kinda like Furley. Sorry, but the truth hurts.ETA:

And "Nuclear George" is your alias, #######.

I'll be downing a couple of smooth Boddington's tonight.
Boddington's was an early favorite of mine. There will always be a soft spot in my heart for that beer. Saw it the other day. The four pack looked lonely. I wanted to comfort it. Let it know it was wanted. And drink it too.......I'm not a sicko after all.
Oddly enough, I too know this feeling.

Summit 20th Ann ESB
You know, following the Brooklyn Black Choc Stout with this just isn't doing it.
No big surprise there. Have any other stouts on hand?
Yeah, but the Summit is already open. Only cold stouts are Lancaster Milk Stout and Troegs Oatmeal stout.ETA - I don't know of too many stouts that can follow that one either though.

The Troegs is really good, but not quite the same style.

Yeah, I really liked the Troegs. The Brooklyn will ##### slap it though, its not big enough to follow that beer.

The only ones I have in the house that might be big enough are the Stone RIS, Founders Imperial Stout, and of course Dark Lord.

Oh, I have that too.
Seriously, one of these days we should take Tip Top up on the offer for a cornfest at his house. If we actually ran out of beer we could get growlers a plenty down the road or lay under the tap of his SNPA keg and pour beer into our moufs.

It would be very very difficult to run out of beer. And that SNPA keg won't be around too much longer, then it'll be Surly Furious

As long as it's not near Bloomington/Minneapolis. Might be some people looking for me there.

Bloomington is a southern suburb of Mpls and I live in Woodbury, which is an east 'burb of St Paul. I think you are ok.

:hifive: No one hates me in St. Paul that I'm aware of. All to the west. Edina and Bloomington.

Having a bit of a dessert here. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout.
I think I like this one more than the Rogue Chocolate Stout. They also surprisingly make a great Wit beer that I have only seen on tap. Their IPA is not quite as up to par, but it is also an English IPA so I think that has something to do with it. I need to revisit their barleywine as well.

Yeah, I am not a fan of English IPAs.

Went to a ####ty grocery store and bought some SNPA. It has been a long time since I bought this beer. Actually, I think it was when NC popped the cap last August. I forgot how refreshing this beer can be. Not a worldbeater, but an all around easy drinking pale.

Good session beer. :banned: :banned: :banned:

Yeah, I am not a fan of English IPAs.
I was at one of our local brewpubs tonight and was talking to the brewer about his IPA. He was shooting for a hybrid of an American and English IPA, and I am not one to complain to any brewer about what they are making, but I wish he would abandon the whole English part of it. He said he was trying to please everyone, and I at least made a comment about not needing to please anyone but yourself. I will cut him some slack, since he has brewed several different Belgian style ales that are pretty tasty.

I wish I could enjoy a beer....I still have a bit of the cold I got 2 weeks ago....No more congestion, but my throat has been scratchy for a week and my voice is still gone :hot:

I just cant seem to shake this one...

I still have most of the beer I brought back from Michigan, plus a bunch from trades with Skylord and a few others just sitting in my fridge, waiting for me to be not-sick.

Whats beers do you still have around that I sent? I killed those Jolly Pumpkins you sent a while ago.BTW, if anybody ever sees any reserves by JP or the Luciérnaga "The Firefly" please grab me a bottle.
Trade beers I still have (not sure who theyre all from)Moylans DIPA

Alesmith Speedway Stout

Stone Russian Imperial Stout

Stone Old Guardian

Hoptown IPA

And I still have a few bombers from the case I ordered from Bear Republic a while ago: a Racer 5, a Black Bear Stout, and a Red Rocket Ale

Plus most of what I brought back from Michigan (Bells Oberon, Bells Cherry Stout, Bells Special Double Cream Stout, Centennial IPA, Crooked Tree IPA, Double Crooked Tree IPA, Mad Hatter IPA), and a Victory Storm King left from a BA trade...

I need to get well so I can start hammering these down.

Smuttynose Farmhouse ale, from the Bakes leg of BIF.
Thoughts? I have an empty bottle from a few nights back sitting behind my laptop here.
eh...I wasn't really impressed. Saisons are really difficult to do. If not perfect they seem sort of jumbled and unorganized.

I think I sent you the Moylans DIPA and Speedway...and the RIS too. Maybe the Guardian?

I totally agreed with your assesment of the Hennepin btw. Great rendition of the style, and every time I have one I think to myself why I don't drink it more. I would love to get a hold of some Cave-Aged Hennepin, even though I am a little skeptical to see whether the cave aging really does that much for the beer over regular cellaring.

I would have loved to have had a Storm King alongside the Speedway and the Stone that I had side by side a while back. The Storm King is very good.

I just put a Stormking into the fridge. Somehow I've managed to never rate in on BA. That can be rectified.

I haven't rated it either. Of course I haven't had one yet. :bag:

Yeah, I wonder wtf cave aging actually is. The Hennepin is some serious ####.Edited to cave aging. Putting it in a cage probably wouldn't help the flavor
