What players would you prefer to NOT HAVE on your FF Team in 2021? (1 Viewer)

I hope the other owners in my 2qb fantasy league are as negative on Darnold as some of the posters in here.  Darnold was put in a laughably bad situation every season with the Jets.  While I admit that he didn’t make chicken soup out of chicken poop—I don’t think there are many qb’s on the planet that could have thrived with what he had to work with.  However—in Carolina—he does have one of the guys who he did have good chemistry with in Robby Anderson. He also has DJ Moore—who is also very sold. More than anything—what qb wouldn’t like having c-Mac in the backfield?   If Darnold can be drafted very late or for very cheap in a 2qb redraft league—I’m all for taking a flier on him
Joe Flacco outperformed him with the same cast and same coaching - Joe Flacco.

Joe Flacco also had the luxury of better coaching and more experience in his career before the Jets than Darnold had. The Jets were literally dysfunctional for Darnolds entire career up to this point. Keep in mind—nowhere did I mention that I say that I think Darnold is anywhere close to a qb1.  I said I think he’s worth the risk as a very low draft draft pick in a 2 qb league. In a 12 team league—that would mean that a fantasy league would be starting 24 qbs each week—of course more than 24 would be rostered due to bye weeks. If he’s going super late—I think he could be a serviceable value as a qb2.

I won't rehash the same arguments I made in his thread - but I think there's a fairly decent chance he's replaced at some point this season.

Darnold absolutely had a rough go of it with the NYJ but betting on a change of scenery / regime to improve things seems like a low percentage play to me for a QB.

My point was that out of the bottom tier qb’s—I think he’s one of the more appealing value picks.  He has legit weapons, he finally has a running back that he can trust, and he’s finally playing for an organization that is not completely inept.   Nobody is claiming that the dude is anywhere close to a qb1–but out of the bottom tier qb’s—in a 2qb league—I think there is some appeal.   Just seems like people are misinterpreting us naming a guy where we like his potential value/upside as an endorsement that we think he’s going to be a stud.  I think that Darnold will have a lot of 225-250 yard, and 2td games this season—which is fine for a cheap second qb in a 2qb league.

Dalvin Cook - sorry don't need the headache of the oft-injured RB

Aaron Jones - don't need the RB who just got a fat payday, some guys get paid and disappear.

Never ever draft Melvin Gordon.ever.

Denver QB whoever it might be, short of Rodgers.

any Jets player

Tua

any falcons player - that new coaching staff will kill their fantasy value.

any Indy WR, and Carson can't play Wentz. dude sucks.nuff said.

Any Lions players - comical that people would mention they'd draft Swift.

Any Giants player including Barkley - K.  Goladay is the Savior, don't forget to grab him early he's the best...stop , he sucks. in his best years in detroit with capable QBing, his career catch rate is not even in the top 100 WRs. LOL.good luck.he'll need 150 tgts to catch like 80 balls. he had 116 two years ago, only caught 65 of them. please..you laugh when someone drafts him, or you have that person pat you on the back for NOT drafting him.

any NE player , team defense included.

Josh Allen - still not a believer, dude has some Mitch trubisky in him , just don't think he's as good as he's being ranked or drafted. no thanks.

Joe never has been never will be Mixon - do I need to explain why you should NOT draft this guy under any circumstance? oh wait he's still there in round 12? good, grab a kicker instead.

D Montgomery - dude padded stats against high school defenses 2nd half of last season and people say he's the big ticket item now.lol. he's a lousy RB on a lousy team with lousy QBs.

J. Fields - Ohio State QBs suck in the NFL, time and time again. this one will be no different. get over it folks. Ohio state QBs suck. say it over and over.let someone else draft this guy.

I'm pretty sure Miles Sanders is going to be chopped liver this season. I don't think the iggles are going to be very good, and I dont see him getting the volume to be good.

I can see your point but I just think Darnold is a bad QB and I because of that I do not want him on my teams.

2nd verse same as the first.

Agree with some and disagree with others. I’ll mention the ones that I disagree with so that its safe to assume that I for the most part agree with the rest:

Don’t agree with the falcons players—as I think calvin Ridley will have a wonderful season if he stays healthy

dalvin cook is really good. I totally understand what you mean about the injuries—but I don’t think he’s anywhere near a player that I’d label as a “stay away” guy.  If he falls some spots below his adp and I had a chance to draft him—I’d absolutely consider it.

I dont agree about the giants player thing. I think both saquon and Daniel jones are worthy of consideration if they fall to you below their adp’s.

Disagree with Josh Allen.  His ability to run gives him such a high floor for a qb.  While I could see some regression in his passing numbers/tds—I think he’ll end up being one of the top tier fantasy qb’s if he can stay healthy.

David Montgomery—-on the fence on him.  While i certainly won’t reach for him—he is a guy that I would look at if he fell to me below his adp.

I did exactly this in my 2qb league—and so far so good. While I wouldn’t be surprised to see some regression from Darnold as his fantasy production has been great so far—the negativity towards him going into the season allowed me to pay up for Mahomes and get Darnold for cheap as my second qb.  So far it’s worked well—but we’ll see if it ended up being a sound strategy as the year progresses.

I think Darnold will continue his solid play at QB all year, the only issue I see is there is no way he continues his rushing TD trend, which could put a damper on things in leagues that only credit 4 pts passing and 6pts rushing. I love him as a QB2 in your case.

Wait, you're saying you don't expect him to finish with 21 rushing TDs? HERESY!!!!!!!

Seriously, was just reading through the posts from July and you definitely deserve to take a victory lap on this one so far. And you didn't even fall back on the most obvious reason for drafting Darnold: The Curse of Adam Gase. I honestly feel like at this point a team is going to hire Gase as their HC just so they can fire him and all their players can have bounceback seasons.

Oh—I totally agree—and I don’t think he’ll get too many more rushing td’s.  My expectation was that he’d be a solid lower second tier qb candidate to put up a decent amount of 225-250 yard and  two passing td’s games.  The first few weeks—he’s done better than that—but I just view those games as being pleasant surprises. If he can consistently get anything close to what I originally expected him to do—I’d be completely thrilled.

Nah—trust me—I don’t deserve to do any victory laps.  Too early in the season to establish if he ends up supporting my thoughts on him. Secondly—-the rest of my team basically inhibits me from doing any victory laps of any sort. Lol. My first season ever doing a 2 qb league with an auction drafting format and I was grossly unprepared.  I didnt realize how big a difference the dynamics of an auction format are versus the dynamics of a snake draft.
