Typically I don't advocate drafting a DEF early but the way the Bears and Ravens have been out-distancing the other DEF is making them tough to overlook. So when would you draft an elite DEF?

In most of my leagues they are outscoring the 12th best D by almost 100 points.

That's the key. Really depends on the scoring system, both offense and defense, and how the VBD values measure up.If your leagues weigh defense that heavily, I wouldn't feel bad about pulling the trigger as early as the 4th or 5th round. Of course it's best to have a concept of when your leaguemates will start drafting D, and beat them to the punch by a round.

I think the Ravens are a really bad choice this year. They faced the hardest schedule in the league for fantasy defenses. Are you going to want to start them against the Bengals twice? The Rams? San Diego? The Patriots? The Colts? And in Seattle isn't going to be easy, either. Not worth their ADP at all, IMO.

Just grabbed Kitna at 6.12 and the Bears at 7.01 in that league. I'm glad the Bears were there.

And I agree - their playoff schedule weeks 14, 15 and 16 is just silly.
