OK, so based on a comment in another thread it got me thinking:

You have two choices in late August:

1) You can win your league's fantasy football championship. For the sake of argument, you pick one league. You will win that one.

2) Your NFL team will win the Super Bowl.

Which is the choice you make?

 
Superbowl, easily.

Now if the choice is Fantasy Championship or Playoffs for NFL team, I'd take the fantasy team.

 
If I win the points title in my league (1/3rd of the prize money) I'm pretty proud of myself for building the best team and being the most successful.

As for my league's championship: I've lost in the playoffs with 11-2 squads that should've never lost and won the title with 6-7 squads that should've never qualified for the playoffs. So titles are pretty lucky and meaningless... AIf i win total points, that's a little more skill involved.

I have an NFL team, I'd be proud if they won the Superbowl, but not as much if they were one of these flawed 9-7, 10-6 fluky teams that just gets hot in January. If they had a dominant season (13-3 ish) and had a nice non-controversial playoff run where they won without fluky plays or fluky calls I would be highly satisfied.

However, I'd still Rather my MLB team goto the world series because I could actually see 1 or more of those games from my regular seats, whereas i'm unlikely to acquire a decent super bowl ticket.

 
Being a Jets fan... I know I CAN win a FF league. I know the Jets CAN'T win a Super Bowl. I argue with Rex about this all the time.

 
Lining my pockets is all that matters to me ... "favorite" team is the one I bet on any particular week, followed by my 3 fantasy squads.

That's it.

Cut and dried.

 
How could you not vote for a superbowl if your a true fan of your team? Being a Vikings fan, the answer is a no brainer. In fact, I'd give up all our Twins world series victories for one super bowl.

 
I always want to see my giants win...however if it must e at the expense of me losing a fantasy championship then f them.

I win championship I win $$ and am very happy. Giants win sb I am very happy but no $$.

Not a hard choice.

It's like in Bronx tale when sonny tells cologero "hat did Mickey mantle ever do for you? Would Mickey mantle pay your rent? F Mickey mantle!"

 
Simple, My fantasy teams have won more championships (7) than My NFL team (Broncos-2)

I'd be willing to never win another fantasy game ever again in exchange for another Broncos championship!

 
Fantasy, but only because it's an easier decision since I'm a Giants fan. If given a choice of seeing the Wisconsin Badgers win the NCAA championship versus my fantasy football team..I'd take the Badgers. But I've seen the Giants win 2 super bowls in 5 years, and they will still be competitive for the foreseeable future. I can live off of that for a while.

 
My fantasy team(s) and it's not even close. I've learned to enjoy the league as a whole.

Super Bowl. A fantasy championship is exciting for me. An actual championship is exciting for an entire city. Plus, most fantasy people play in multiple leagues with fewer teams than the NFL. Their chances of winning in any given year are far higher.

 
I've won leagues a few time, including the league most important to me. I remember the years, but not much else.

I remember where I was, who I was with, what I did that day for every Packer Super Bowl I've watched, win or lose.

Super Bowl, no question.

City is fun during playoffs and for a team that makes a run at the superbowl, it's a party every week and the party gets better every week.

Good times that are worth more than money.

Rams superbowl? sure, but I think one of the main reasons I've gravitated towards fantasy football is that I've had nothing else to actually root for lol.

The last semi-good years were the Bulger years... and they were mediocre at best.

 
Lions fan. If given the choice I'll give the Lions a Super Bowl.However, on any given week I'm far more interested in my FF teams than what the Lions do. Mostly because I have some control and have a much better chance of winning the game.

If you knew your preferred NFL team would win the Super Bowl, why wouldn't you place a sizeable bet on it?
 
BTW, your questions are slightly different. Could just be the "learned helplessness" that comes from being a Lions fan.

Viking fan, super bowl in my lifetime, i'd quit fantasy if I had too.

 
There will come a time when I play in a league with a buy-in so high I consider my team more important than my NFL team, but until then a superbowl and its not even close.

I mean I guess if I was in a $10k league then my answer would probably be fantasy. But since my highest entry is $100...I'll take the Falcons winning a Super Bowl all day.

Huh? That makes no sense. It's clear some people don't understand the mindset of those that prefer fantasy football. You like all the players on your 'team' (Vikings) and cheer for them to do well. It's the exact same for those that prefer fantasy, except our team is what we make it.
 
And your response has nothing to do with my post. I was referring to the people who seem to only play for the $.

 
Id take the Superbowl win for sure.

Its a good question, because I do find myself with split loyalties at points during the season. I really enjoy the Sun/Mon night games on their own if I dont have any players involved. Also great if I have a guy I am rooting to score a certain amoutn of points (although that can work the other way too). So I guess it enhances my enjoyment overall.

That said, I come the end of week 16 I can just enjoy the football. I stopped doing post season competitions a few years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. Now I can enjoy every second of every playoff game for what it is meant to be.

 
I manage my Fantasy Team far better than my Chiefs manage their NFL team. I have a reasonable chance of doing something this season. When my NFL team is playing, I find myself clicking between other games to monitor my fantasy players. I think that says a lot about which is more important to me THIS SEASON.

+1 Superbowl easy.I am in the same boat as a Jets fan. Hell, I would give up a FF championship for even a superstar game changing QB/RB/WR to be on the team.Having said that, on Sundays, I watch my fantasy production a lot more than the Jets (this is easy enough and far less frustrating). Before I got into fantasy, I only watched the Jets. Now I love watching every game regardless of if I have any players in that match-up.

I pick the Bears hoisting the Lombardi every time. Fantasy football is a fun hobby that I enjoy for 17 weeks. The draft, submitting lineups, and working the waiver wire every week is fun no matter where I wind up. On the other hand any Bears season that ends with a loss is a bad one.

SuperBowl, and INEC!

FF is a fun hobby that helps pass some of those boring work hours between NFL games. Watching the SP burn as NE goes on another SB run is the best entertainment I could wish for.

Always my NFL team, I don't play for enough cash to have it trump my fantasy team. I've reached the point now where I don't actually follow my fantasy team until most of Sundays are over....

 
I was surprised to see "My Team" having the most votes since this is a fantasy football forum. It's nice to see that even though most people here take their fantasy football serious, they still realize the objective of the game itself.

That being said, I'd rather win my fantasy league this year than my team win a superbowl. I'm a Giants fan so I'm okay waiting another couple years to get my first win in my big money league.

 
I'd love to see the Vikings win a Superbowl. But when I stand back and think it over, I don't know anyone on that team personally and don't have anything really invested in it. They're just a bunch of guys who happen to play in the state I live in.

My fantasy teams, on the other hand, I've put together and have actually done work with them. The other members are people I know and interact with. So, I have to pick fantasy.

I would quit fantasy football if Dallas could pull out one superbowl but that's highly unlikely haha. Ooh how I hate being a cowboys fan!
