If I am drinking just plain soda I always go regular. If I am having a Kracken and coke I use Coke 0. I find that as a mixer with rum it takes just a bit of the sweetness away and I like it better.

super cool

up until my mid-30s I used to buy two 12-packs of pop

gave it & never looked back

about once every 6 months I'll have a coke with a slice but haven't bought it with groceries this century

Regular for me the few times a year I drink soda.

Although if I want some afternoon caffeine from a restaurant/convenience store my go to is now unsweetened tea.

I do not think that artificial sweeteners are good for you. The studies out there on artificial sweeteners are ambivalent at best.

Below is one of the more recent studies, which was published in the Canadian medical journal.

https://www.cmaj.ca/content/189/28/E929

In the included cohort studies, consumption of nonnutritive sweeteners was associated with a modest increase in BMI (mean correlation 0.05, 95% CI 0.03 to 0.06; I2 0%; 21 256 participants). Data from RCTs showed no consistent effects of nonnutritive sweeteners on other measures of body composition and reported no further secondary outcomes.

In the cohort studies, consumption of nonnutritive sweeteners was associated with increases in weight and waist circumference, and higher incidence of obesity, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular events. Publication bias was indicated for studies with diabetes as an outcome.

Regular, never diet. Mostly coke type.
Did actually stop for 5 or so years, fell off the wagon and now coke doesn't taste as good. Stick to Root Beer now.

I rarely ever drink soda.* Have maybe 6 or so per year. Usually when that happens it's some random situation where I'm at somebody's house or a work party or something and soda is the option. In that situation I prefer diet but will opt for a regular, too (and usually can't finish it because it's too sugary but the first few sips are good). I like Diet Dr. Pepper the best.

*But I have like 3 La Croixs per day - judge away.

I've never liked soda, not even when I was a kid. Don't ever drink it, never will.

At least you got the options right this time.

Soda companies must be on the verge of collapse. Anytime I see it or hear it brought up everyone immediately says they don't drink it anymore.

I drink regular a few times a week.
The big ones branched into other beverages a long time ago, so they’re doing fine.

I rarely drink soda anymore but when I do, it’s regular. Diet soda is just as bad for you, but in different ways. So I go with what I like better in terms of taste.

Diet.

Dr Pepper Zero is the nectar of the Gods.
Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream Zero Sugar Is the only diet soda I’ll drink.

Regular orange Vanilla Coke is almost the only regular soda I’ll drink.

Although, a flat coke or Mountain Dew at the end or towards the end of a long run or ride on a warm day is heavenly.

I’ll take the calories over the substitute

No soda for me. Never liked diet sodas and they're horrible for you anyway. Gave up regular soda in 2000 or so and rarely have 'em anymore. I did get a ginger ale after my colonoscopy and what a treat!

I will drink a 4 pack of the below every few months. I did not consider it soda until I saw @General Malaise post.

If it does count as soda, then I drink around 20-25 soda's per year. And the "strongest" ginger beer is my favorite soda by far. I liked extra strength, but they really upped their game when they came out with the strongest flavor.

That is pretty good stuff. When I go a month without booze, I'll grab a few of their ginger beers as a replacement. Sugar content bugs me, but they are tasty.

please add "do you call it soda or pop?" to the queue of future polls

It's called "A Coke".
Yeah that was always weird. What part of the country calls all soda "coke"?

It's just a southern thing, I think. Even in Texas, the home of Dr. Pepper, folks there refer to all soda as "A Coke".

Unless things have changed in 27 years since I've left, but I don't think they have.....

For those of you that drink soda/diet soda on the reg, how are your teeth holding up? Part of me quitting soda altogether was the warnings I was getting from dentists about the long term damage to enamel. No issues since so I'm wondering about guys my age (50) who still drink it - your dentists say anything about it?

Love ginger beer. Never tried this Reed’s, but I like Gosling’s quite a bit

I’ve had more issues with staining from tea, but a recommendation is to do a simple water rinse after having a soda, coffee, or tea. It does wonders.

I drink waaayyy too much diet Pepsi. I can say my teeth have suffered, but it is hard to determine if that is from the soda or I got unlucky and got my dad's teeth. He had almost all his pulled and dentures put in when he in his 40's.

It is if you're purchasing a regular coca-cola.

You know, there's a whole segment of the country you live in that would vehemently disagree with you. In the south, any soda is referred to as "A Coke". Just the way it is.
There's also a whole segment of the country that think the Earth is flat, that think Nickelback is good, and/or cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles. Doesn't mean their opinions/beliefs are correct.

I drink probably 2L per day. Never had one cavity... recently had a root canal, but that was due to a cracked tooth, not decay.

My dentist sasses me each visit about my stained teeth on account of my black coffee and tea habits, but it's all in good fun due to the alternative. I will have a McDonald's Coke (yes it's different) maybe once or twice per year but aside from that it's coffee, tea, water, and alcohol. If I'm going to drink my calories then it's gonna come with a buzz.

I didn't say it was correct - I'm just telling you what southerners call soda in the south.
