Used to love baseball, being a Tigers fan in the mid 80s was sweet (Lou).
Stopped watching when I went to college and probably couldn’t name a professional player without having to check if they retired first.

If you didn't follow Miggy's final couple months, you missed out!

I was pretty big into fantasy baseball in my 20's and then moved to Houston. You think this would be the recipe for someone to get big into baseball, however the opposite has happened and I don't follow baseball at all anymore.

I haven't even watched any of the Astro's world series games the last few years. I did watch a couple Pirate's games earlier this year, but that was because my parents were visiting and they are big pirates fans.

Houston being in the AL was a real surprise to me.

having been to miller park when the crew was playing in the playoffs i say this with sincereity i wish the fans cheered that hard all year it is just something else and gives you goose bumps take that to the bank brohans

"Pass" time

It's about the only time I do pay attention to baseball.
Actually, we're both wrong. Pastime.
It's past time we pass time on the pastime.

I went on strike from baseball when they went on strike but have gotten back into it, definitely back into it after everything went away during covid. Watched all of the games yesterday and will watch as many as time allows.

Related note -

The Rangers/Rays game had lowest attendance for MLB playoff game since 1919 (the Black Sox scandal series). :tumbleweed:

And apparently they've approved the building of a new park... essentially right next door?

Conversely, attendance was up across baseball in 2023.

Grew up in Northern Virginia pre-Washington Nationals. I was a big O's fan. They were a great team in that era with Ripken and many others. I moved away from following baseball for much of my late 20's and 30's...got mildy interested when the Nats made their series run, but never felt connected to the team.

I'm actually really excited for this post-season. The O's are a fun up-and-coming team, and my son is big into baseball now...so this may be a shift for me.

More of a casual watcher if my team isn't playing. I'll follow along for some of the drama and will catch updates (via Quick Pitch) or watch a couple of innings.

If there is a team I like that isn't Cleveland, then I'll watch a little more than just updates.

Oh, and when teams would play the Yankees, I would tune in just to root against the evil empire. But those days are gone....for now.....

Love the sport of baseball. Its all i wanted to do growing up. Seilig and company ruined it for me at professional level. Still love going to youth, high school, and minor league games when i can.

When I lived in St. Louis before having kids, I watched the playoffs every year.

Now it is like my 2,000th priority in life, so I only tune in if the Cardinals are playing. Even then, I usually only catch a couple of their playoff games.

Grew up in Atlanta in the 90’s, when I became a fair weather Braves fan. With TBS/TNT, you could watch virtually every game on TV.

Lost interest a couple years after they finally won the Series.

Didn’t watch again until the 2021 WS.

Haven’t paid attention this year, but sounds like they’re pretty good?

I honestly don’t even know who’s in. If the Yankees were still playing, I would be watching those games but otherwise baseball doesn’t interest me - and now that I mostly work from home I never listen to sports radio. I watch NFL, EPL, NBA, college football and basketball so I’ll know those leagues otherwise this is the least I’ve ever known about sports.

Used to but now just half-assed follow.

Really other than 2 teams I had no idea who was all in the playoffs.

MLB, NHL, and NBA are all the same to me. I just monitor the regular seasons but don't watch many of the games. I'll probably attend more in person (Diamondbacks games are a good fan experience) than I'll watch. If the Mets are on in the evening in the summer I'll have it on, but they're really on the TV options available to me.

But, I closely monitor and pay daily attention to the playoff games for each sport and will watch some amount of the games each day they're happening.

Didn't watch it much for quite a while until the last couple of years. The older I get, the more I find myself following baseball over football. The changes they made to the game this year with the pitch clock has been a HUGE plus. It has made the game so much more enjoyable to watch.

I used to be a diehard baseball fan up until around 2011. Then, for some reason, I soured on the game. This year, though, with the pitch clock and other improvements to speed the game along, I've been able to watch and enjoy baseball again. I certainly will watch and follow the playoffs, though the NFL takes precedence in my world.

Hmmm…maybe better I don‘t pay attention.

And Milwaukee the opposite.

Watched baseball from like 1987-1993 then fell out of it. Started again the last couple of years at least watching some Twins games by getting MLB.tv. Not like I'm watching every game but have enjoyed following their run this year. Hoping they hang onto their core for next year and add some pieces and looking forward to another season. Should probably watch the local Diamondbacks now in the playoffs.

Rays and Marlins exited quickly so not really.
Houston vs Texas doesn't interest me, but I bet folks in Texas are excited

Instead of Dodgers-Braves, it's Philly-Arizona, didn't Philly go to the WS last year and had a 2-1 lead on Houston?
It could easily be a re-match of last season, not sure the MLB ratings are very high these days

Rays fans got murdered this season. Lost Shane for the stretch and the entire 2024 season
Wander Franco, just a gut punch to fans and I was never a believer in him. He seemed like he was going to be a wildcard and it's disappointing what he has been linked to.
When they tore down his likeness everywhere, when fans who bought his jersey were ashamed to wear it any more, took a lot of air out of the '23 season.
Then 3:00 start times in the Playoffs, it's obvious MLB hates the Rays
