I posted the same thread about 5 days ago....got no response.Sick feeling they cancelled it.
After the whooping the staff took I can understand. From the FBG standpoint this chewed up a lot of resources I'm sure they wanted to use elsewhere. Very understandable, but it will be missed.IIRC, not happening this year.
I bet if you took a poll, more would vote to continue Ultimate Survivor than to add the FanDuel deal. I bet if there was a vote between cutting Ultimate Survivor and cutting an equivalent amount of other content, the vote would be to cut the other content.Disappointing.After the whooping the staff took I can understand. From the FBG standpoint this chewed up a lot of resources I'm sure they wanted to use elsewhere. I bet if you took a poll of the 12k+ subscribers less than 10% would even know what ultimate survivor is.I bet if you took all the time Clayton spent organizing this you could come up with up other ideas to generate revenue.I bet FanDuel generates a boatloads more revenue than ultimate survivor. On another note, it's interesting to see the direction J is taking the business. The lifetime subscription FPC prizes are a good indicator. This. It was an embarrassment. After the whooping the staff took I can understand.IIRC, not happening this year.
I understand that FanDuel will generate more revenue. I didn't comment on that. I think you could cut an equivalent amount of time to what Clayton spent on Ultimate Survivor that is spent on content that would be missed less than Ultimate Survivor. It's Joe's business, and he's obviously making decisions he feels are best for its future. I would expect nothing less. And this is still my favorite fantasy football site. But I think it could be better with the same investment (time, money, resources) invested differently. Some key decisions are being made based on maximizing revenue generation, not based on keeping long running members as happy as possible. I understand it, but I also find it disappointing.'BassNBrew said:I bet if you took a poll of the 12k+ subscribers less than 10% would even know what ultimate survivor is.I bet if you took all the time Clayton spent organizing this you could come up with up other ideas to generate revenue.I bet FanDuel generates a boatloads more revenue than ultimate survivor. On another note, it's interesting to see the direction J is taking the business. I normally hate the posters who complain on the boards, but I'm about to do it. My apologies.I have got to say I am pretty sad/unhappy with the decision to not continue with this staple of FBG's history. I do understand that there is a lot involved and Clayton was doing a lot to run the contest. It didn't go unnoticed by many of the participants thanking him for his efforts. Could this have not been handled differently? Board volunteers or some other solution? Heck, it wasn't even about the $ or prizes for me, it was just having fun with other board members. This decision has brought some of my other opinions about the site. Here in the nutshell are my concerns with FBG's as we move forward:-Not happy with the contest being taken away without even a mention or alternative being pursued publically. I might be corrected later on, but I certainly didn't see anything. -In general, the overall FBG's product/offering is solid..... BUT. My problem is an over focus on delivering too many things. I would rather see a flawless execution of the basics. Predictions and insights.....more opinion, but from fewer people and from specialists in their field. As an example...some of the Dallas Cowboys updates/"our take" this pre-season have been short sighted and it is obvious to me that they were written by a casual fan/observer. -I see a decrease in the overall value prosect for me as a consumer. It's not that we are talking about big money with the cost of the registration, but the value to me is geting less and less every year. Joe/David.....HUGE fans of yours and your site. However, whether it's a change in the industry, or a change in the overall management, but I am less and less likely to pay for another subsciption as time goes on. I will always come here to post and enjoy the Shark Pool. To me, some of the individual contributors on the boards are invaluable to my own draft prep and enjoyment of football and fantasy as a hobby. I'm not looking for "answers" or "calling anyone out" here, but I am just sharing my views as someone who has been around for years and hopefully someone who is viewed as a solid poster.Sincerly,Bankerguy
