When do you prefer to have your fantasy football rookie/FA draft? (1 Viewer)

Is having fantasy football rookie drafts soon after the NFL draft the best way to go about it? With the recent crop of NFL rookies just drafted and fresh on the minds of owners, I am guessing some prefer this? Or is waiting until things shake out in August before having the rookie/FA draft a better idea?

Trying to get some ideas for what date I should decide on for my new league.

Thanks

It really depends on the owners in your league. Personally, I like having mine within a few days of the NFL draft and pretty much all of the dynasty leagues I have ever played in do that.

1 day to 3 weeks after the NFL Draft. June, July, and August are great vacation months for owners to have other pressing things come up.

League I'm in does the first 3 rounds starting this monday and then rounds 4-6 in august, quite like this system.
Interesting...I would imagine that makes 4.01 a pretty valuable pick...there tend to be some guys each year (Hightower comes to mind) who are late-round NFL picks who start to make some waves in June-July...

Indeed it does. Similar to the value of the 2.01 in NFL draft this year.

We do something similar - ours is in early June. After the draft we randomly select the first waiver wire order, which opens the week before the season starts. Waiver rights are fully tradeable, and the best thing is it adds more $$ to the pot.

Ours kicks off at 9 am Monday morning on Memorial Day, but the draft clock doesn't start until June 1st at 9 am.

This way we can start the draft with anyone that's around, but if you are not...you're not penalized.
