My list is kind of the same way. I didn't go for hip and edgy, I went for songs that are my very favorites.I'm auditioning finalists for my list tonight, and I've realized my list is probably going to be pretty boring. I listen to a lot of music from other parts of the world, but when it comes down to my tippy-top favorites, they mostly aren't very obscure. Thank god for the rest of you.
Someday Yule regret your mistake.Oh, I'm also stupid and realized a bunch of my favorite Velvet Underground songs would have been eligible in the US draft.
That’s what these lists are supposed to be.I went for songs that are my very favorites

It is pretty plain that folks have done this in the past in music drafts/rankings here, sorta like Buzzfeed (are they still around?) click-bait: "Just wait until you see who we have at #1!!!!". Those posts usually start out with some form of "I know that this one is the most popular, but it's my 81st best and they sold out and if you like this one you are not a REAL fan....".I didn't go for hip and edgy
Who are they in this one?Songs from the projected Big Three

I guess that could be the case ultimately - based on the context of being ineligible in the past at least. I think some angry Canadian could find his way in there. Not helpfulIt's from this post: https://forums.footballguys.com/thr...de-top-31-song-countdown.807842/post-24421452Who are they in this one?Songs from the projected Big Three

Certainly -- it'll be interesting to see if the Spotify issue affects people's willingness to choose his songs.I guess that could be the case ultimately - based on the context of being ineligible in the past at least. Not eligible!Cream rises to the top.
I found a cover by some fellow Canadians of the Neil song I chose for our playlist - although it’s less good than the Young version.Certainly -- it'll be interesting to see if the Spotify issue affects people's willingness to choose his songs
Thinking the same. This one requires a lot more research in exploring the world than I'm probably able to do timewise.I'm guessing I'm missing a lot of acts that I could choose from - but I don't know know if they'd even supplant what I've already chosen.
Not really as long as you’re sticking with your favorite songs and not trying to find some gourd music from Uruguay that you never really heard before.Thinking the same. True, although I'm also going the route of avoiding essentially non-US/UK artists that were previously ineligible, so does take a bit more research. But I've already got more than enough to pare down - just probably missing some. Not really as long as you’re sticking with your favorite songs and not trying to find some gourd music from Uruguay that you never really heard before.Thinking the same. Most of us aren’t exposed to a ton of “world music” so I’d imagine in addition to getting in the mixed bands and otherwise ineligible US and Brit bands, we’ll mostly be seeing Canadians, Australians, Jamaicans, Mexicans and some foreign bands that got heavy MTV play.
I know what you’re trying to say but something got messed up in the translation.True, although I'm also going the route of avoiding essentially non-US/UK artists that were previously ineligible, so does take a bit more research.
My Neil song -- you know what it is if you read my posts, which means almost none of you do -- has a squillion covers, and I just picked my favorite known-to-me one instead of trying to wade through them all.I found a cover by some fellow Canadians of the Neil song I chose for our playlist - although it’s less good than the Young version.Certainly -- it'll be interesting to see if the Spotify issue affects people's willingness to choose his songs
And will help me out tremendously....I might pick the wackiest song I can find if there isn't an easily found cover. Could get interestingIf you select a track that's not on Spotify by the original artist, you might want to suggest a cover for the Spotify playlist if there is one. This is likely to come up more often in this countdown than the others because of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
I can also see cases forMaybe I am wrong but for the "Big 3" I think you are missing a very obvious one.
Yeah I don’t think there’s any consensus “Big 3” in this one - especially with the more open nature of it.I can also see cases forMaybe I am wrong but for the "Big 3" I think you are missing a very obvious one.
Talking Heads, Pretenders, Bob Marley, Van Halen and Guns 'N Roses
One of the bands on my list has a Korean member - which is why I couldn’t use the song previously - @krista4 bounced them at the door when I tried to sneak them into the US list.Korean chicks are hot but their music sucks so nothing from Korea on my list.Yes. The view count is frightening.I clicked on the link and watched a bit......is that what the kids are calling K-pop?Ok.I got close. SoAs stated in the first post:Just so everyone is clear.
How do you want the picks formatted? Correct my listing below
31- BTS - Butter - South Korea
Format of submissions: Please send your list with the song name first, then the artist name, and please put your top choice (31 points) at the top of your list. Please do not use ALL CAPS as I'm not a shouter. If possible, please capitalize the first letter of each word of the song title, though I know it's awkward and will fix it if you don't. If you want my undying loyalty, you will also send links (either Spotify or YouTube is fine) - preferably hyperlinks within the song title - but they are not required.
Not that anyone reads those things.
Evidence of eligibility: Per Dr. O's excellent suggestion, when submitting your list, please also add, after the song and artist names, a very brief indication of why it's eligible here (i.e. “British Band, American Singer”; “Japanese”, “Mexican”; “Mexican and US”; “it’s Neil Young”)." A reference to the ineligibility lists for the prior drafts will suffice in cases where they were on the posts no one read. I will not be vetting these and will work on the honor system. If you claim, for instance, that Sixpence None the Richer would be eligible because they are Nigerian, we're going with that, but you'll risk the scorn of your fellow posters.
I'm definitely doing this. I'm interested to see just how many countries I have represented.

Either this or gangnam style, but neither makes my list if 31. I wonder if it makes someone elses?![]()
I don't see any givens for the Big 3 - doesn't seem to be a lot of largely universal love for any of them along the lines of the Beatles, Stones, Zep, Who, etc.Yeah I don’t think there’s any consensus “Big 3” in this one - especially with the more open nature of it.I can also see cases forMaybe I am wrong but for the "Big 3" I think you are missing a very obvious one.

I’ll just say one artist there has been dead for a long time but I would guess most people 18-80 are familiar with. Kids still wear shirts with them on it. When I play music in class, it’s really difficult to find artists that the kids will agree on but this artists always goes over well.I don't see any givens for the Big 3 - doesn't seem to be a lot of largely universal love for any of them along the lines of the Beatles, Stones, Zep, Who, etc.

Holy ****! It just dawned on me that I've made a massive oversight and my list is already submittedI'm partial to Jamaican Dance Hall.Man there are some fantastic carribean disco songs out there.
Got at least 3 earworms in at the moment

Especially since most are clearly listed as ineligible in the other two threads.I’ll just say one artist there has been dead for a long time but I would guess most people 18-80 are familiar with. Why are we avoiding mentioning an artist? I don’t see any issue with discussing them.

Ha. I forgot Metallica was one of those bands that weren’t kosher for US and would therefore be allowed here.I can also see cases forMaybe I am wrong but for the "Big 3" I think you are missing a very obvious one.

I had in mind that (The) Jimi Hendrix (Experience) and Metallica might also do well, but I could be wrong.

The degree of “edgy and cool” is up to you.So are these supposed to be our "favorite" songs from "The Rest" or just a bunch of obscure songs from obscure countries to impress our magic football friends?
Asking for a friend.

I'm not sure why this is being brought up so much in this thread. Wasn't much at all in the first 2 other than joking about Elvis Costello. The degree of “edgy and cool” is up to you.So are these supposed to be our "favorite" songs from "The Rest" or just a bunch of obscure songs from obscure countries to impress our magic football friends?

Yeah, given our demographic here, the US/UK artists are going to be the most familiar so maybe we don't have as many go-to bands but there are plenty of other very well known and beloved bands (and some lesser known) from those other "obscure" countries.![]()
A lot of us have been doing music drafts for 20 odd years. It gets repetitive. New formats bring new life.So are these supposed to be our "favorite" songs from "The Rest" or just a bunch of obscure songs from obscure countries to impress our magic football friends?
