Jokes aside, there's a nature trail in Gary called Miller Woods that is incredibly beautiful. The landscape changes like 4 times on the way out to a Lake Michigan beach. It's not #1 on my overall list or anything but it might be in the top 20 or so.
I haven't seen the rest of Gary because I was covering my face to avoid breathing in the air from the steel mills, but I'm sure it's just as lovely.

I always loved the view of Las Vegas from the air. Empty desert, then identical homes in neat little rows for miles, then the absurdity of the strip. It looks like someone was playing SimCity in real life.I have incredibly positive memories of this view. Vegas did grow old for me, and I understand how it looks gaudy to some, but I genuinely enjoy it. Again, this is subjective.

I'm a city slicker I guess because Florence, Italy, tops it for me. Maybe parts of Barcelona, too. I haven't been through many places in Europe, so I would imagine it would change daily. Want to so badly see Prague and Paris soon.

Used to go regularly when we lived on the East Coast around the years of '90-'95. Spent New Year's Eve 2000 there. Haven't been back, but it's not an indictment of the place on my end. Beautiful place back then.

Top mountains: Switzerland, Austria, vail/beaver creek, lake tahoe
Beaches: I have not done much Caribbean. Maui, Kona, Cozumel (back side)
Vineyards: Mosel, Napa/sonoma/russian River, many throughout France and italy
General: dordogne, Venice, Santa Barbara, Alsace, northern lakes of Italy

"Truth is beauty" per Keats and the truth is some of my best memories stem from that initial view coming into Vegas from the southeast.

We just got back from Paris last week. It is gorgeous. If you have any interest at all, even in passing, of architecture, it is one of the most fascinating places on Earth. Just walking around, you'll see so many interesting things. For a big city, they manage green space really well too. Paris gets a bad rap (some deserved), but it really is a city to behold.

Wow, very cool. The Gothic Quarter and Antoni Gaudí's architecture is just stunning. The city is, really. Unbelievable. I wish graffiti weren't so endemic, but that's a lament that was forefront on my mind fading into a quibble.

Another vote for Yosemite NP, all of it, but Glacier Point stands out as the one spot that truly took my breath away.
Of the places I have never been, the one place that may trump Yosemite (from photos I've seen) might be the Patagonia area in southern Argentina.

The graffiti did nothing to squash the beauty of that city and its architecture.
Our office does slide shows when we take trips, so i was trying to be mindful of finding nice architecture to share. EVERY SINGLE BUILDING...stunning. couldnt walk down a block in any neighborhood i visited without finding amazing buildings- from different eras. Then the variation of urban design from the gothic quarter on out to more modern "rational" street layouts, always with moments that catch your eye, provide relief from it being too urban. So walkable. Add the hills, beach, culture...just amazing, amazing place.

Really? I can see Lanai'i but I really didn't dig Maui's beaches/water.
I liked the beaches and water in the Bahamas, like Guana Cay much more.

Capadoccia and the Princess Islands off the Coast of Istanbul are also beautiful places in Turkey.
Istanbul is my favorite international city I’ve been to.

The Bahamas are stunning from what I've seen, but I've never been. I think I was in Maui in late '88 if that makes any difference. Things might have changed by the time you got there. I don't know. I've never seen crystal clear blue oceans before and Maui's was closest. Plus, the place we were staying at was so nice, and I was young. I thought Rhode Island was great back then. Heh.

Only thing is the anti-tourism there is nuts. I heard they've started using waterguns to drench obvious tourists. It's sort of a good thing because maybe it will make people stop acting like entitled tourists and try to blend in better.
