Which "sleeper" TE is your favorite? (1 Viewer)

Which player is most likely to become top 10 TE?

I was the last to pick a TE in my 10-team PPR and ended up with Cook. Hernandez and Kendricks went undrafted as well but were immediately picked up off waivers once available. Should I stick with the popular sleeper or go with one of the following:Winslow (some of you guys are high on him, I see him as pretty boring)
Yeah, its pretty boring to have a guy who has finished TE6, TE7, TE4, TE6 in 4 of the last 5 years, and not lower than 7th since going to TB :lol:ETA: Youre especially nuts to think that in a PPR league

Like I said - boring. Who needs that kind of consistent production?

At this point I'm thinking of picking him up and dropping Rashad Jennings based on those scary injury reports. I still think highly of Cook, but Winslow is probably the safer bet for the first few weeks at least.

Yeah, who needs consistent Top 7 TE production. Much better goiing with a Cook, Kendricks, Olsen, Hernandez, Gresham, Moore who have no chance at outproducing Gates/Witten/Finley/Clark/VD if they all stay healthy but maybe they outproduce Winslow :lmao: At least youre coming around on Winslow, so Ive done my job. He's mad slept on this year. All you see is the consensus Top 5, then Daniels, and its like Winslow got sent to the pasture.

If he can stay healthy, my pick for true sleeper TE is "other:" Todd Heap.

With Kolb in a new system, and with very little options in the passing game other than Fitz, Heap could become a reliable security blanket who is likely to get plenty of looks. He may be more valuable in a PPR, but I think Kolb may rely on Heap, who is definitely a talented enough athlete to still be a playmaker.

I think Heap was forgotten by lots of people thanks to recurring injury, and because he wasn't as needed in an offense where screens, dumps and wheels to Rice were so much more effective. He has been a little inconsistent -- he had four games of 69 yards or more and four games of 35 yards or less last year. But I think Heap has a good combination of opportunity and talent to crack back into the Top 10

My vote is for Hernandez too. He's on the better offense, and I do believe he has the potential to be the 2nd most productive receiver for NE behind Welker (cathes & yards). Some see Gronk as a negative, I see it as a positive. With Gronk being the better all around TE (specifically at blocking), Hernandez can stick to what he does best, be an oversized WR that creates mismatches against DBs and LBs.This time next year I could see myself switching to Kendricks.
Couldn't agree more. I still think people's mindset is behind what BB is doing. They're used to seeing more WRs on the field to move the ball through the air. When they see a two TE set they think it's only strength is blocking for a run outside or off tackle. They see two TEs on a team and think only one will be used enough to be relevant in the passing game. They look at inconsistency last year and don't stop and think, "hey theses guys were rookies..rookie TEs, and yet they still put up those kinds of numbers!?"Now I could be totally wrong on this, but my gut is telling me that I'm seeing something that is revolutionary(even though it's not). I feel like BB is taking Joe Gibbs H-Back theory and just going balls nuts. Here's a little stat to chew on. In 2008 and '09 the Patriots ran an average of 363 two TE sets per season. In 2010 they ran 631.

I change my mind. This time next year I'll still probably prefer Hernandez.

I agree with the other "area" posters: Ed Dickson is a guy to keep a serious eye on. He will be a consistent producer averaging 3.5 catches, 55 yds/game. His "floor" is slightly higher than some of the others listed here. He's a slight injury risk but a fast, good route running TE with very, very good hands. He'll be a redzone target in passing situations as well. For those touting Cook as a combine warrior; Dickson has the same measureables, a better QB, and is in an offensive system that has been tight end friendly. In many leagues he'll be available on the wire, keep on eye on him.
(self-promoting bump) Dickson also had a 30 something yard reception called back on a questionable offensive holding call on McKinnie.

Lhucks still needs to show up to one of these gronk/hernandez threads to eat some major crow.

I still take Hernandez next year as well. :lmao:

None of the above will be starters on a FF roster this season unless things went really bad for you.
:bag: On a side note, I ended up drafting Hernandez as my backup.. but at the time I said this, I couldn't have been more wrong.
if it makes you feel better:
I don't consider Cook to be a sleeper, but maybe in some circles he is. IMO he's the most likely to be top 10 this year and slightly more likely than Kendricks long term. Hernandez is more likely to be solid but not great unless he gets separated from Gronk, just too many mouths to feed in New England.
The year is far from over, but this comment looks pretty bad right now. :bag:

Eh, it was the feeling of the vast majority of people, including a ton of the writers and prognosticators. They would have one guy or the other, but rarely both. A lot of people just dismissed my preseason claims outright, because of history and that seems to be a cardinal sin in fantasy football. What really gets me is the people still tooting that horn about Gronk being less valuable now that Hernandez is making a return. They still have a long way to go before all is said and done but they're looking very safe to be top 10 and maybe even top 5 if they don't miss more time due to injury. Even top 5 PPG AVG looks like a lock.

Other = Olsen
What was Newton last night...3-14 ish?
I expect Newton to get better. Even so Olsen has 6 catches for 105 and a TD in limited time in 3 preseason games. There is not a lot of competition for targets with the Panthers and TEs can provide a safety net for developing QBs. I believe Olsen has talent and this season should provide the best opportunity he's had in his career.
