Those of us who have the 11th or 12th overall pick will most likely be drafting one or two of these choices.

I'm assuming that AJ & Moss will already be gone.

Each of these WRs have questions ....

Fitzgerald- Will Leihnert and the absence of Bolden hurt his stats ?

Austin- Is he a one year wonder ? Will Dallas run more with all 3 RBs healthy ?

Johnson- Will Stafford improve his game enough that Calvin gets rewarded with big stats ?

White- Will Turner stay healthy all season so that the Falcons don't throw as much?

Wayne- Did Reggie hit the ceiling ? Is Manning spreading the ball to more WRs (Garcon, Collie, Gonzo, Clark) ?

Marshall- 1st year on new team. Dolphins run first and then some more. Gets to lineup against Revis twice.

I would have to say of the list, Marshall is the most sure thing. Yes its a new team and a different QB. However, last year was a new QB who was arguably worse than the previous one he had yet he still put up ridiculous numbers. Now he will be in an offense that has an established running game and a young QB with a better arm. I like Marshall out of this whole group. Not talent wise but as far as most likely to produce the best stats.

Reggie Wayne and Roddy White are the safest 2 picks because you know what you are getting and they have done it more than one time in consecutive seasons so it simply comes down to personal risk and what you can withstand.

it came down to Roddy and Miles to me. i'll take Miles. Romo has confidence in him. IF he stays healthy he's gonna have a HUGE year.

Being an eagles fan it pains me to say that Austin is legit and I will probably go for him in some leagues depending on my pick. However, he has that possibility of one year wonder. So he's not the safest choice. High upside though.

If not for the Leinart factor it would be Fitz. Coin toss between Roddy White and Brandon Marshall.
Amazing what a QB can do for a guy. Fitz is by far the most talented of the group currently (Moss in his prime may have had him) but a shaky QB and we don't know now.

Interesting, I think Marshall is the riskiest. He's switching teams, offenses and its yet to be seen whether he'll be as featured as he was in Denver. Plus he had another hip problem.I look at this list and wonder where DeSean jackson is, but that's me. Not that I'd pick him over everyone in the group, but probably half the guys in it.I'd go with Austin. I think he's going to have a huge year. I think Wayne is the safest, but he also probably has the lowest ceiling.

Fitz is the best WR here but assuming you are talking redraft AND the fact that situation is a huge factor with WRs...

Austin

Marshall

Fitz

RWhite

Calvin

RWayne

I took Roddy White and I'm actually surprised with that many people agreeing with me.

Super safe, but still might have a bit more upside he can hit.

What if we made a little table?

Fitz 10% 70% 20% Not feeling Leinart at all. I see a lot of targets for Fitz and a lot of INTs.
Austin 40% 30% 30% Romo is a stud, Austin is a stud. He was my pick in the poll. Relatively high bust chance if one-hit-wonder.
Calvin 5% 80% 15% QB still developing. Offense is not good. Exciting young RB might make them run more.
White 5% 90% 5% Very low chance of busting. Ryan will be good. Gets a ton of targets. They run the ball a ton on the goal-line though.
Wayne 10% 50% 40% On the decline and a ton of competition for targets.
Marshall 10% 60% 30% New team, young QB. Relatively high upside, but also high bust potential if offense never clicks.
Thoughts?

I like the table even though I disagree with just about all of it.

He can play all over the field, can get himself open and beat doubles, and is the runaway #1 target. If he slides out of the top 10, it won't be by much. Austin 20% 30% 50% Romo is a stud. Austin is good. He was the #1 option last year when the backs were hurt and there was nobody across the field. Bryant and the backs will bring his numbers back to earth. Calvin 35% 40% 25% Word out of camp is that he's tearing it up. Last year was disappointing, but another year from Stafford and improvement all around the offense should help. White 35% 50% 5% What does he need to do to get credit for his success? A 5% chance of being top ten? Wayne 45% 50% 5% Receivers in the Colts offense need to know the routes. Garcon, Collie and Gonzalez are not fully capable of the things Wayne can do. He will get his.Marshall 10% 60% 30% This one I agree with...

I picked Wayne.

hes the only guy on that list who I have no questions about.

Marshall is with a new QB in a Run based Scheme

Fitz is with a new QB who is a downgrade from Warner and rumour has it that they are switching from a passing attack to a balanced or run based attack

Calvin plays for Detroit with a young QB.

Roddy White also has a young QB

Austin plays for a stong team, but only has a 1 year track record of playing as an elite WR.

dont get me wrong, I expect most of these guys will still perform as top 8 WR's. All I am saying is Wayne is the safest pick.

He personally has performed well for a number of years.

He has manning tossing him the ball.

He is in a pass based offense that really kicks *** (censored)

The only guy that really compares on all 3 levels would be Austin, but he has only been a top WR for one year

he has new competition in Dallas in Dez Bryant (although I doubt that will matter much)

and he plays on a more balanced offense so there is the possibility that this may be a one year wonder. I am not saying he wont be productive, I'm saying he may not be able to duplicate what he did last year.

I could go on and say that Calvin & Roddy both performed with the same QB last year, and that is true as well. The fact remains, that younger QB's are more unstable in terms of production, and when they have a bad game, their WR's usually also have a bad game.

although in all honesty, the risks with all these guys is acceptable and I'd be happy to have any of these guys on my team.

My only point that I really care to make with this posting is that Wayne carries less risk and his production has been pretty consistant over the last few years. What's not to like about that?

Thought i was the only one who wasnt in love with the best thing since sliced bread Austin.
Austin has flash-in-the-pan written all over him, i.e., Fools Gold..wouldn't touch him with a 10-ft pole. Witten is still the bread-n-butter in that 'Boys offense..not a big Reggie Wayne fan,either..he slipped quite a bit towards the end of last season. is that injury-related,age related, or a bit of both? I'm beginning to think the

wheels are going to come off of the R. Wayne cart very quickly.

Roddy White has all the tools to succeed at a high level relative to ADP ...he won't disappoint..

Calvin is the poster boy for the term 'tease', he gives you just enough to keep you interested but at the end of the day,he's WAY short of the top tier of WR's..

I'd take Marshall over almost all of these players not named Roddy White..Miami has old and broken down RB's in Williams and Brown, they'll struggle to run the ball effectively in '10..

they're likely to abandon the Wildcat, and let Henne throw the ball

they have misfits and journeymen at the other WR positions and

this can only mean one thing: throw to Marshall, early, often, all the time

it's going to be the Brandon Marshall Show down in Miami..

he's good for about 100 recs and nearly double digit tds in his sleep

I'm down on Austin too. The hype for him feels to me like the hype for Antonio Bryant last year, but even worse since he's being put in the top 5.
