White Sox 2011 Baseball (1 Viewer)

Gotta respect that Leyland brought in Galarraga. Glad to see the Tigers didn't just lay down today - they are going to make the Sox earn it.
I thought this was messed up. It's going the other way with the idea of sitting players in a game is ruining the integirity of the game. Give it everything you got if your the tigers, but don't run multiple starting pitchers like it's a playoff game. Imagine it was a player like Brandon Webb or Tim Lincecum and they come into a game not being the orignal starter and he shutdowns the Sox and knock them out of the playoffs. Not even the Sox could implement this strategy themselves as they have a game the next day and then another on Thursday. :goodposting: to Leyland. Although my reaction was a little more than a thumbsdown while watching. Glad Galarraga sucked and the Sox stuck it to em.

Got tickets:thumbup:
Nice. I'd be interested to hear what's going on with attendence. Alot of empty seats today, I know a long rain delay but hardly an exuse in such a big game. And when I watched on mlb.tv during cleveland series, they advertised alot of tickets still on sale. How many sellouts this year? Just curious. Live in Pennsylvania so not privy to any of this kinda information.TIA

Not sure how many sell outs this year, but they'll end up right around 2.5M in attendance for the year.Weather probably played a good role in the crowd today, but tomorrow sold out in about an hour. It will be a packed house.

God Cabrera sucks. How the hell did this guy ever win gold gloves?
I agree with this.
He's not an All Star, but he's an above average SSHis VORP is 4th best among AL SS this year (BTW, John Garland's? 39th among AL Pitchers with 150 IP.)He is 2nd among AL SS in Stolen BasesAmong AL SS with 500 AB, His avg was 3rd, OBP was 4th, OPS was 4thHe's made 16 errors on the season. I can handle one every ten games out of my SS. Would less be better, of course, but the fact is they are a better team with Orlando Cabrera at SSConsidering there isn't a SS in the Sox pipeline and Juan Uribe was the alternative going into this year, I'd put this move along with getting Q as the most important moves KW made coming into this year.

what a great game! it brought back memories of 05, lets keep this going.

The Sox are 7-2 against every team in the AL Central at home this year. That's a combined record of 28-8.

I'm not a huge fan of Cabrera, but I'll take him over many others. When the Sox have Uribe at 3rd, and Alexei at 2nd, they have three sure-handed SS's on the field, and they can put on quite a show. If/When Cabrera moves on, I don't think the Sox will see any drop off at all with Alexei Ramirez at SS. Gordon Beckham is probably 2+ years away from taking over at 2B/SS, so it wouldn't shock me to see Uribe back at 2nd.

Errors in the post season are going to be magnified. It is the defense that needs to tighten up starting tonight

What a homer take. I have no problem looking at things through homer eyes, but you have to be objective on some things. Leyland's job is to win every game. If you can win with a starter, you do it. If you can win with a September call-up, you do it.As a baseball fan I love that Leyland took the game seriously. Of course he will because he's a professional with pride. You can see it on his face. Galarraga wasn't ready to pitch mentally, and to me it looked like Leyland was pretty pissed when he yanked him. :D at crewmember for being mad at Leyland for trying to do his job. That's bush league. Good luck today.

I guess you are right. I don't think we'll have to worry about him being back next year though judging from these comments from Ozzie the other day-
'You can say Orlando took a shot at the players,'' Guillen said. ''To me, the problem is Orlando thinks he's better than what he really is. He acts like he played with better people, better managers, better players, like he's doing us a favor. Well, everyone has a different personality, and that's the way we are here. Am I supposed to take things away from the players because we're losing? I won't do that. I'm the same way all year long, and I'm not going to change that because we're losing. He's not going to change the manager.

''The thing is, be careful what you say, and you better look yourself in the mirror. Orlando is lucky that no one has called him out on this ballclub. I was surprised none of his teammates haven't called him out and say, 'You better explain about this.'''

I would feel same away about any two random teams. I would care a hell of a lot less but the logical points of my argument are still valid. A regular season game was played differently than all the others ones before it. Same thing as the argument against sitting players when you have clinched. I think it damages the integirity of the game. The honorable thing to do by Leyland would have been to play his best game, just like I'm sure they did their prior 161 games. I don't know, maybe if it was Ozzie that did it instead of Jim, more people would agree. Sox won anyway so it's a non issue for most people.

Danks was balls out... great game. He's been doing it all year.

I can't believe this team just won the division, what a crazy year this has been.

Nobody predicted this team to do anything, some picking them to finish last.
