Who decided to say ENOUGH! and passed on both of these terrible candidates? (1 Viewer)

Ooooh, oooh Me!  Teacher me, over here ( as I wave my hand furiously).

Voted Jo and I don’t know a damn thing about her.

Voted for right to repair and ranked choice voting in MA. Didn't vote for any candidate in any race.

Except President and Senate they were all uncontested. I think. And the real Senate race was in the primary where I did vote for Markey.

*raises hand*

I busted though the every other thing on the ballot quickly and saved the president vote for last.  I literally sat there for a minute trying to decide between Biden and leaving it blank (Trump was not an option for me).  I eventually left it blank and felt good about it.

I think we can all agree--candidates for POTUS--even those in the primary--should be some of the best leaders America has to offer.

I don't think we got that in either of the last 2 elections.  And it's mind blowing to me--that in a Democracy--we wind up with these 2.  Parties have too much power.

There wasn’t a Gary Johnson our there this year though. I could vote third party because my state isn’t close. But just a straight protest. I wasn’t voting for anyone. Heck, the libertarian vp is a brony.

Let's see...overturned a lot of things I disliked from previous administration, kept the peace and kept our troops out of harms way for the most part, oversaw a robust economy and a mostly flourishing population and also managed to push 3 Supreme Court Justices thru...yeah I kinda got what I wanted with my last vote in fact I got more than I could have ever hoped for, learned more about myself and those around me over the last year thru this National Pandemic...I couldn't not vote this time around.

But I am totally prepared for the other Party to take the White House, it's the beauty of Democracy.

Spike Cohen...whoa, that is some interesting reading

I voted for the best candidate on the ballot.

Zero chance she wins, but we'd be better off if she did.

It would be okay if President Biden resigned before February and enjoyed his retirement.

i vote for, not against. as i've stated before, neither major candidate has earned my vote, Libertarianism is a long-dead Pollyanna concept and any party that doesnt understand that the Green New Deal is a gen too late dont know enough to come in from the heat, so the two majorminors were out, too.

there was a presidential candidate on my VT mail-in ballot listing Bull Moose as his party. i laughed w surprise, looked it up on the innerwebs, saw a party website and that the current VT Lt Gov (and losing Democratic candidate for Gov)  was a Bull Moose, so it was legit. can't think of anyone i'd rather have as Prez now than ol' TR, so i voted for that. would have done the same and not regretted it were i still living in Reno, which, it turns out, could be the city that decides this race. otherwise, i woulda written in Bootyjudge (who a u ta judge?!) even tho he copped out.

I did this in 2016 and voted for Johnson, but threw up in my mouth as I voted for Biden this year.

Me too except I did read her platform enough to know she wasn't into some weird ####.

I voted against Hillary in 2016, not necessarily for Trump but that is who I pulled the lever for. He had his time in the sun and as a life long Republican it pained me but I was more than willing to look outside the party this year. Was a big big fan of Andrew Wang but the Dem's didn't even let him up on the stage so was making peace with somebody not named Biden and then, VOILA! The Dem's ####ed that up too. Neither of these men come close to representing the best of America and it's a slap in the face of anyone who voted that they were the only real choices. Call it throwing a vote away but I refuse to continue to vote for ancient white men that are either con artists or have been in the system so long you speak of their body of work in Washington in terms of decades.

I did.  New rule for me, if I can't respect you I can't vote for you.  I was going to go vote for Cooper and Cunningham then horny Cal lost me with the infidelity.  I like Roy but not enough go vote just for him.

I voted for an independent candidate.  Until we breakup this two party b.s. we will have more of the same.  The masses will plead that my 3rd party vote is a wasted one.  I call b.s.  A vote for red or blue is a wasted one.

They'll never have enough votes if we don't vote for them... gotta start somewhere.

I actually did vote for Jo Jorgensen, though I found out later her stance about COVID. Should have voted for Biden. I live in California. My vote was not wasted.

What do people think about the disappointing amount of third party votes in Maine despite their implementation of ranked choice voting?  Do people not yet understand it, or do you think there is less support for third party candidates than one would expect?

This was going to be my vote, even living in WI, but somebody posted her stance on Covid a bit ago and that helped me pull the trigger for Biden yesterday.

Yeah, it definitely would have changed my mind. I should have known with the way Reason was covering the virus and the Libertarians' view of civil liberties. I was a high-info voter on the other candidates, a low-info voter when it came to her.

It's a sad state of affairs when this is a new rule.

Of course, one could assume it was implied for many years until lately.

You gotta run to get votes and, apparently, no one believes in their alternative (Libertarians have nothing but the political equivalent of saying "i'm spiritual" to represent and Greens dont want to raise their carbon footprint by getting out on the road) well enough to actively become the Ralph Nader (who i'm sure would still much rather be commenting on this scene than be a closeted pariah) of this cycle. It will take a billionaire doing a Perot (in an election season which doesnt have a boogedyman) to get an real alternative party going.

I don't necessarily politically align with Nader, but I feel very badly for the guy.  Devoted his life to fighting for causes that he believes in, then instantly becomes the devil by having the temerity to get ~2.5% of the vote in an election where Gore couldn't win his home state on the heels of a decade-long economic boom.

When asked whether he thought the 2000 election tarnished his legacy, I believe Nader's response was along the lines of: Did they abolish seatbelts? Then my legacy is intact.

Perhaps he feels differently privately, but I hope not. Major parties blaming third parties/independents for their own failed politics is BS.

Voted for Jo. Would have preferred Justin Amash as the LP candidate and someone a little more serious than Spike Cohen. But I'll take Jo and Spike over the Democrat and Republican alternatives any day of the week.

I'm happy Amash didn't really run this year, but I hope he does in 24.

Voted Howie. It's shame 3rd party voters couldn't like just be jammed into one party together lol. As it is, we have alternative schools of thought for both liberalism and conservatism. Makes things tough for any one of us to rise up.
