Who is Allen Hurns? (1 Viewer)

Understood. However, it is extremely difficult for me to ignore the potential production versus cost. I would bet that 99% of owners out there did not draft this guy and picked him up on the cheap. Grab and stash potential is huge especially if Bortles gets his shot. They looked in sync during preseason and most likely work out after practices. Just guessing but Hurns seems like a hungry guy and willing to put in extra work.

All of the other Jax receivers are either in trouble or injury prone. He's in a great situation.
Hurns had looked good, but long-term I don't think he's athletic enough to be a valuable fantasy guy. Especially when he's on the same team as two other more talented rookie WR's.

I like what Hurns has done in spite of not being drafted but the reality is that 6-1, 200 lb. WR's who run a 4.5 are a dime a dozen. However, if he can get bigger and more physical without losing speed he has potential.

Maybe I'm wrong and he's the next Chad Johnson.
Isn't Hurns 6-3? They list him as 195lb so that number is probably closer to 180-something. He does seem on the skinny side for his height.
6'1-1/4" 198 at the Combinehttp://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=108798&draftyear=2014&genpos=wr
Holy crap...maybe he has grown 1-3/4" since the combine. NFL.com lists him as 6-3 and 195lb. Maybe he weighs 225 now! Kid is morphing into a beast.
weird. Espn, Rotoworld, NFL.com, University of Miami, and thr Jags website ALL list him at 6'3"
did a quick google search of allen hurns draft and some of the same sources list him at 6'1" on the draft profile section of the site. Wikipedia has him at 6'3". WHATS GOING ON HERE?!
They're all wrong.

Here's his combine workout, which shows his height at the end (6'1 1/4")
Obvious case of sandbaggery.

I have no interest in starting a "I'm starting Allen Hurns over _________" thread.

Who are we considering starting Hurns over and why?
Right now I have him in over Terrance Williams, I expect to be going back and forth with that until game time. Either way, my reasoning is the Redskins secondary is not very good and the Titans secondary is still kinda stingy... but if Romo has a good day, this could turn out to be a mistake. This is a 0.5 ppr league for me so for that reason, I'm starting Hurns. If it wasn't PPR I think I'd go T. Williams.

Starting today for the Jags.

Starting today for me.

Still not to too late for some of you to get on board before it's too late.

:moneybag:

Call me crazy but I'm taking a risk and starting him today over Keenan Allen. Hoping he is "this years Keenan Allen".

Wrong call; go with the known over the prospective.

But there are a decent number of guys I'd start Hurns over.

I just swapped Hern in for Floyd. This new qb haven't played in a season game in a long time and Floyd gets covered by their #1 CB. Hern have an easy secondary to go up against and all the opportunity is there. I'm going to roll with Hern at this point

Me too. If Allen lit it up last week Id have not done it, but he gave me 5 pts. Now he plays Seattle. Only scenario this season where this makes sense but am willing to take the lumps if Im wrong.

Well, first two pass attempts were to Hurns. The second one should have been 80 + a TD. Let's hope he keeps getting those looks all afternoon...

The good news, he was open on both targets. Wide open. The kid knows how to beat coverage. That drop was ugly as hell tho.

Every year, week 1 waivers has a hot WR that came out of nowhere, that everyone overbids on, and then does squat rest of the season. In my money league full of sharks nobody claimed him.

Remember these guys after week 1?

2013: Leonard Hankerson

2012: Kevin Ogletree (honorable mention to Stephen Hill)

I'm in a small roster league (no flex) so I'm not dropping my backup WRs like Boldin or Floyd (ARI). I'd rather go get Floyd on SD who is also on waivers.

JAX is a putrid offense so the opportunities just aren't there on a weekly basis, and you won't see defenses completely ignore Hurns again, just look at the 2nd half of week 1.
Replace this with Anquan Boldin in his rookie year after week 1. Same thing.
Update?

I can't believe people were comparing him to Kevin Ogletree or Leonard Hankerson.

Those guys at least managed to get more than 13 yards in their second game.

Did he kick your dog?

I'm interested to see what his injury is. I hope it's nothing serious. If it is it could really set back his career, which was starting to smell like a "feel-good-story."

HE got injured and was on crutches after the game, at this point sounds like he may miss time.

Hurns was removed from Sunday's loss against Washington with a potentially serious knee injury, John Oesher of Jaguars.com reports.

ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS

Hurns needed to be helped off the field and was spotted using crutches after the game, suggesting the receiver didn't suffer just a minor injury. He'll likely undergo X-rays over the 24 hours, at which point the Jaguars should have a better idea about the extent of the injury.

ESPN NFL Nation’s Michael DiRocco reports that No. 1 wide receiver Allen Hurns was spotted walking by with crutches, and he and TE Lewis reportedly sustained ankle injuries in today’s loss.

Just for completeness... The injury was at the VERY end of the game. It was no excuse for the stinker of a FF game. That said, I hope he's ok. It didn't look good, though.

Are you guys surprised? If it makes you feel any better, there were tons of WRs that scored under 2 points this week. Look at the bright side, at least he's not injured.

Allen Hurns left the stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury in Sunday's Week 2 loss at Washington.

per rotoworld

He got to play and produced while other WRs were injured. Now he's injured and Allen Robinson will get to play and produce. Except that Robinson, who is more talented than Hurns, will not be relinquishing the starting job.

Will Robinson be a better FF player than Lee?

Yes.
So sure of this, huh? Mind if I borrow your crystal ball for this weeks lottery numbers?

Lee is quite talented in his own right.

Hahahaha. Whooooo, you showed him by someon asking his opinion and then WHAM! Nailed him for being sure of himself. Nice work.

I think the takeaway message for the purpose of this thread is that Hurns' window of relatively uncontested opportunity was never destined to be open for very long. Depending on the nature of his injury and how much time he misses, it might be closing tight as we speak.

He sher did! Hyuck hyuck!

The lottery takes absolutely no skill. Not even remotely comparable to evaluating prospects. Nice try.

Knowing the lottery numbers means to know the future. And it isn't based on any kind of info, past or present. There is absolutely no skill involved because there is no system or pattern. If there was, some math genius would have broken it already.

Projecting how well a football player will do is based on lots of data and information. Based on everything I know, yes Robinson is better and will be better.

Now stop trolling.

So the good news is the injury doesn't look serious. The bad news is it opens the door for both Lee and Robinson. Hurns may have a tough time getting his starting spot back but with the injury bug being as contagious as it's been in Jax I'm not counting that out.
