Who is respected in the FF Community? (1 Viewer)

Although relatively young on the fantasy horizon, I'll give some props to Erik Karabell. He has good thoughts and has brought some semblance of intelligence to ESPN's version of fantasy football (who isn't tired of seeing "I think Steve Smith will do well this week").

Scott Engel is not bad either, but his depth is, well, a tad shallow.

For total coverage though, this group is pretty much the be all end all right here.
Karabell sucks. No other way to put it.

Reading Dodds' post got me thinking about another name which influence me...Ron Shandler at Baseball HQ. Admittedly he's not a fantasy football guy but his unique approach toward evaluating baseball performance and draft strategy [i.e., finding ways to go against the grain], played a huge role in my searching for a similar avenue for fantasy football analysis, which led me to Mr. Football and Cheatsheets.net...and the rest, as they say, is history.

I'm going to throw a nomination in for Bruce Henderson.

No Bruce, no fancy apps that put this site over the top.
:goodposting: There is alot of information, stats, and opinions provided by the staff - some I like ALOT, some I don't care for at all. However........

Bruce is the FBG who gives me the tools to do the most with MY OWN opinion. You don't hear much from him - but his stuff is the coolest and a BIG part of the reason FBG gets my $ every year.

Guys I WON'T listen to:

Gil Brendt (sp?) mentioned above - WORTHLESS

Hector and Victor aka Dumb and Dumber

The CBS 'Guru' - needs a mantra adjustment or owes a payment to Ms. Cleo

Mike Hall - MyFantasyLeague.com - Possibly the nicest person in the hobby. His dedication to creating a quality league management system goes un-noticed by many in the hobby.
It went unnoticed by me as I read through this thread until you mentioned him. Nice call on giving him some recognition in this thread.Mike and everyone at mfl get an enormous  from me.

I would also like to single out Chris over there. He's the best support person I've ever dealt with. Aside from the usual support stuff, he takes the time to answer dumb questions and "hangs in there" with me while I learn.

:lmao:

How in the world did Family Matters, King of the Obvious, get on that list (by posting 20,000 times)?

TIA
Get up on the wrong side of the bed Sonny? You've heard the saying if you don't have anything nice to say..........
Wow-that's weird. For a guy who pretends not to like me he sure does post about me alot. Anyone else find it odd? Maybe he likes me more than he thinks? If he keeps stalking me I'm think he really does like me.

Nothing against you bud, I just suspect a payoff.

Ken Rosenthal- Rotoworld and TSN

Matt Waldman- FFT

FBG Staff- Yudkin

FBG Poster- Unlucky

Kellogg...FF In The Groin is over at FFToday.com.

I agree, Mike MacGregor writes a very entertaining column. He has been a great person to work with as well. A very underrated writer and analyst in a community of some excellent names mentioned.
Speaking of fftoday, are they ever coming back? What happened over there?

We will be (FFToday), thanks for asking. I know the forums have been down for a while, but they will eventually be back up. We've been taking a little break (to put it nicely).

I appreciate the hospitality of the moderators here and I don't want to go into great lengths to advertise what we'll be doing in the future to be respectful of FBGs, but we aren't finished by any stretch of the imagination.

We'll be doing a lot more in very near future. The forums will eventually be back up. The Mikes and I will be meeting in a couple of weeks to hammer out more ideas, and in a few weeks you'll see more of what's in store for the site, too.

Moonlight, thanks for plug. I have to credit guys like Drinen, and when I first started using the Internet for FF. It has been a lot of fun to get a chance to compete with Dodds in a few leagues, too.

I was orig thinking of this being about people who "know" FF in general vs people who host great sites, but on that topic I'll easily 2d (or 3d or whatever) that. Having been both an FFLM/MFL commish for years, I can vouch that he's beyond excellent. Also while we're in that area of FF, I also give props to George (don't know last name) of fantasyauctioneer.com. Also very responsive.

Blair Westmoreland at profootballnet.com is extremely informative and knowledgeable.

Blair Westmoreland= Texasmouth....wink wink.

Being partial to analytical-style of FF, I always like Wade Iuele... does anyone know where he is these days? He's no longer listed at FF.com..

Although I am new to the board, I have been reading the opinions of the people on this board, as well as FFToday, for the past three or four seasons. I have noticed that some are driven by data and others driven by opinions. I honestly have enjoyed the diversity of ideas that this board has contributed. I would nominate all the members of this site as people I respect, enjoy hearing from, and value the opinions when making decisions for my ff team.

GO HAWKS!

David,

You have NEVER worn out your welcome with me (at FanEx or anywhere else). We might not have always agreed on things but I have ALWAYS respected your foresight, analysis and dedication to the hobby. And you would always receive my vote if you ever decided to return to FanEx.

Regarding TC -

I write some fantasy stuff, and have been a part of Fanex (as an analyst and owner) for a few years. Terry is a true class act, a sincerely nice person.

Tony Holm is the best, been a reader of his forever, and a classier guy you'd never meet... He was ready to give up the hobby once when people got t be hypercritical, but he kept posting for those of us who were Loyal readers, and fortunately we all gained by that decision

Bloom's work with the draft is very very impressive. I would say as a "new guy" his work is "up there" with many other FF sites. That's quite a mark for someone new. I'm REAL curious what he and this site do next year with a year under his belt.

Tenacious D's search for info/links is comparable to Miguel and I mean that as a huge compliment.

Chaos Commish has also brought a wealth of draft info to the boards too.

IMO This board is stronger this April because of these 3.

Thank you BTW

Clayton Gray is hands down the most knowledgable FF mind around.

it = info

Great thread... there's so many names to mention. Here's a few:

AT FBGs, I like reading the work/opinions/posts of Jason Wood, Marc Levin and Maurile Tremblay... the DD is invaluable thanks to Bruce Henderson... I think Bob Henry's columns are among the most underrated items here.... and David Yudkin and Doug Drinen's abilities to break down a question/trend statistically are pehnomenal. Wheelhouse's posts are always informative and entertaining at the same time.

Outside of FBGs, and already mentioned, is the work of John Hansen and the Caplan brothers. Tony Holm is also tremendously enjoyable to read.

I did come up with a name I haven't seen mentioned in four pages yet. I know this guy has taken some shots in the past, but the more I read of KC Joyner the more I like his stuff.

I'm flattered, but Yudkin = Troy Hambrick (in ARI), Drinen = ESmith (in DAL) in this scenario. I couldn't carry Doug's jock by comparison.

You shouldn't be expected to. Drinen's a wild-eyed mad scientist math professor. You're just a very talented FF geek.

I'm flattered to have made the list three times.
But who's counting, right?By the way... never heard of you. :D
Apparently, neither has Rounders. I just thought this was funny:

Does look like the work of Iwanna and whoever went right over his head, doesn't it... :) What's it like to be 3 of the most respected people around? A little schizophrenic?

I don't see Sam Caplan on that list or Emil Kadlac...and i have to guess Adam Caplan is allready on it? That guy DonnyT33 sho used to post here was pretty good but hated by most. What about the guy Lenny Pompeo soemthing from Draftsharks.com and WCOFF he has o be on it too. What about that Zman dude who won the inagural WCOFF and is at footnalldiehards.com now?

I have to know what you mean by the top of the FF world, please? I have been in leagues with a few of the guys high on this list and have finished ahead of them. Is this a list of people who have been invovled in FF on the net for a long time or own websties or help put the hobby on the map, what are you looking for..if its the better players...ummmmmm no way in hell.

Mike Nazerck on that list?

Mike Herman. He has the guts to cover PKs and do it really well when all he gets in return is ridicule for the most part.
 HERE HERE!! I agree wholeheartly. Every FF point counts in totals so you want to be in the front of every catagory position rather than the end, and Mike is the one with the info.
