Who is starting at QB for the Arizona? (1 Viewer)

ESPN's Sunday a.m. updates (Engel) are also listing "McCown expected to start" also, however, with no supporting details.
NJ posted that Cohen heard the same thing

Guys this is personal opinion, but worth reading.

I had Warner earlier in the season and I remember the commentators in one of the games said something like Green was committed to Warner and promised him he would be the starter if he was healthy (so that there would be no repeat of the Trent Green incident). Dennny Green loves Warner and wants him to succeed.

My theory is that the only reason Denny Green waited until Wednesday to say he knew the starter was because he wanted to make sure Warner was a 100% before he would rule him starter. Plus, I think it only makes sense to keep it a mystery unless you are going to surprise the other team, which Warner would be.

That's my amatuer opinion, but I just thought I'd give a warning that it may not be as cut and dry as it may seem.

I traded McCown earlier this week because I didn't want to risk it.
Your recollection is also my recollection....good point made. :goodposting:

That's the first thing wrong with your post...

That may be true... but I bet he loves winning even more. McCown has been nothing short of spectacular. He has 3 INTs, but they were all on deflections...

Or you could look at it this way... if what you say is true (Denny promised Warner he would start when healthy), then wouldn't McCown be the suprise? Just saying it can go both ways...

  Here's my imitation of you next week: :wall:

I'm sure some people would like to hear it when they weigh their options. I traded McCown and Marty Booker for Jake Plummer, Donte Stallworth, and Tony Fisher so I won't be too sad.

In the interest of every tidbit: Mort just referenced the Cardinals QB situation as being up in the air a few minutes ago on Countdown.I find this interesting since Clayton was reporting it to be McCown 2 days ago.Is he just playing it safe?

Unfortunately this is a what have you done for me lately league and there is so much pressure to win now that if your team is losing and you get hurt and your backup comes in and outplays you and the team wins, you have a chance of losing your job regardless of what the coach told you at the beginning of the season. Not saying that McCown will start, I have no idea who will, just saying that I wouldn't put too much stock into anything a coach said over a month ago.

FWIW, CBS has now weighed in on the issue. Of course, in typical CBS fashion, this appears to be a case of them make a definitive statement based on less-than-definitive information...

McCown to start for Cardinals Josh McCown, QB ARINews: According to the Cardinals' official game notes, Josh McCown will start in Week 7 vs. Tennessee. Analysis: McCown is a great pick for the week as he should continue his great passing against Tennessee's soft secondary.

I also have J Martin as a possible starter due to Bulger's injury. My plan is to start McCown, but if he doesn't look to be the starter right before the game, I will drop J. Martin and add Volek. Holt is now OUT for J Martin, so Volek is probably an equal starter as compared to Martin.

My thoughts as well.. I have Bulger and Martin. Just picked up Volek and I am going with him.

Can we keep this going until we get definitive word...for those of us that can wait to make a decision.

Mort reports that the team has succeeded in keeping the starter secret, but that McCown is "expected to start." Sounds like he was working on conjecture rather than info from the team.

Mort said McCown "Likely to start" - not as definitive as we'd like, but collaborates the other views we've heard/seen.

I'm benching Palmer for MCown... now, let's see if Denny screws me like a teenage babysitter.

I'm goin with Plummer, this is so stupid of Green, like he wants to mess with the fantasy teams. Can't risk not having a QB this week though :wall:

Haha. The AZ Cardinals web site is basically frozen, probably because so many people are trying to figure out who is starting...Damn Denny Green.

Cardinals: Green will wait unitl final seconds to announce starter by Fanball Staff - Fanball.comSunday, October 23, 2005NewsCardinals coach Dennis Green will not announce the club's starting quarterback until they take the field today.ViewsWe'll go out on a limb and say either Josh McCown, Kurt Warner, or John Navarre will start. McCown is coming off back-to-back 300-plus yard passing games, so it would seem logical that he starts today. However, we're talking about Denny Green.

As long as it's +5 minutes before kickoff, I can still make a change. Locals post when you here something.
