Hunter's team should have beat suckasssss Nebraska, very mid Kansas State and SEVEN loss Kansas. You know, since he played BOTH ways, he should have helped his team beat those weak sauce teams.

Mic drop.
Yeah, you don’t lose to my Jayhawks year and win the Heisman.

Boise aspired to play those weak sauce teams. Living off a close loss to early season Oregon and an overrated unlv. Colorado St went 6-1 in the Mountain West.

Jeanty. Legendary season statistically and led a lesser team to the 2nd round of the college playoffs.

Boise St was 10-4 the year before Jeanty became a starter.

Colorado was 1-11 the year before Hunter became a starter.

Obviously there's a lot more to it than that and Colorado got a lot better beyond just Hunter. But rolling through the mountain west is not some unique thing for Boise.

They beat UNLV twice and Washington St when they were ranked in the top 25. They lost by 3 to Oregon at Oregon and played very well against them, losing on two kick returns for TDs.
The QB, both wrs and te played well all year.

Defense was number one in sacks most of the year in the country. Not sure where they finished with that.

3 and 0 as underdogs in the Fiesta Bowl. Can't wait to go.

They secured a 1st round bye in the playoffs. What more did you want to see from them?

If the Big 12 was a better conference, they'd have a higher seed than BSU

Jeanty's regular season rushing yards trail only Barry Sanders. Like.....why is this even a contest?

Correct. The Big12 is the worst conference. Travis Hunter voters should take notice that his team lost 3 games in the worst conference in football.

Jeanty also only played HALF the game 3 times. He would have easily broke Sanders record if he padded his stats

Ashton Jeanty rushed for 77 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 26 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 75 yard touchdown (2pt attempt failed, Maddux Madsen pass attempt)
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 70 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)
68 yd run vs Port ST. (no td)
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 64 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 59 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 75 yard touchdown
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 63 yard touchdown
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 54 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)
35 yd run ve SD st|
46 yd run vs Nevada
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 61 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)
60 yd run vs Oregon ST
Ashton Jeanty rushed for 75 yard touchdown (Jonah Dalmas made PAT)

1/3 of his TD's were over 50 yds. Nine over 60 yds.

And In those 10 TD's over 50 yards, I would wager he broke about 35 tackles combined on those runs

Hunter was 6th in Rec yards 1152.

TD's Jeanty 30
HUnter 14.

I don't get it. Someone please explain.

Well for starters you're comparing Jeanty's best and only position to Travis Hunter's side hustle that he goofs around with on the side while taking a breather from being the best defensive player in the country.

I mean, they both accomplished historic feats.

Jeanty the second best ever RB season.

Hunter the 1st player ever to be top 5 at his position at both offense and defense which is something no one has even come CLOSE to doing before. When Woodson won the heisman for playing two ways he wasn't even top 100 at his position on offense.

Hunter, at his second best position, literally more than doubled up the previous record for most receptions (47) and TDs (5) from a two-way player. And did it while being #1 overall in the country at the other position.

4 int and 32 tackles in 12 games is the best defensive player in college football?

Yes. That's how it works for great corners. Teams are afraid to throw at them. That's a Darrelle Revis statline to a tee.

Boise St played four games against Top 25 teams at the time of their game. Oregon, UNLV twice, Washington St.

Were any of these teams ranked when Colorado played them? Colorado three losses were to teams that combined for a 19-17 records

Rank "at the time they played" is less than irrelevant. All that means is that we didn't know enough about the team to know they weren't actually a ranked quality team. Just like a team beating FSU at the start of the year when they were ranked in the top 10 doesn't mean they did it against a top 10 opponent. All it means is we didn't know FSU wasn't a top 10 quality opponent yet.

It's also not a team award. Especially when we're talking about a RB and CB.

3 of the games BSU played finished in top 25. How many end of season teams did Colorado play in top 25?

Lots of good points. This is a close class. Hunter probably wins because the Deion factor just drew a lot more attention to CU than Boise has gotten. What Hunter did was Ohtani like but Jeanty carried a mid level team to a playoff bye. He was their whole offense and whole identity. As good as Hunter was, he wasn't even the most valuable player on his own team. And let's face it, if it weren't for the special teams meltdown Boise is the #1 team in the country right now with an unbeaten record.

Lol at "They beat Washington St"

Colorado St. went 6-1 in this conference. Colorado St. who got beat by Fresno St. And Oregon St. And somebody else. Can't remember who.

They played Oregon tough. I'll give them that. The good news is we get to see if they can hang.

Beating a worthwhile team?

One is compared to Barry Sanders.

The other Woodson.

And also Revis in here.

One has already won the Maxwell.

Ok. He's a great shutdown corner. Colorado still gave up 22.0 per game. BSU 21.9.

BSU was 4th in points per game.

It's amusing to me that Rotodorks who give side-eye to people even thinking about traditional baseball statistics instead of using LIHROPALATWAG seem to want to go back to using wins to determine Cy Young Award winners.

But when they played the #1 team in the nation he had 192 yards and 3 TDs in a 37-34 too-close-for-comfort loss. That's significant. At least to me.

Was Hunter special in his team's 3 losses? Not really.

Oh well.....odds have Hunter running away with this thing. Skattebo should have some more love too. That guy carried ASU on his back.

You made me curious.
8-125-2
10-110-0

While also being the best CB in the game. That's not special?

And he did lay an egg against K State, which is pretty inexplicable, as K State's pass D isn't anything special. Jordyn Tyson scorched them.

Stop with this already. Sos for both teams was about the same.
