Why no love for Owen Daniels? (1 Viewer)

Gatorman

Supreme Elite Maximum Tier
Virgil Green is that much of a factor?

He knows Kubiak's system

Manning throws to the TE

He was targeted a bunch week 2 of PS.

He hasn't been terrible even with bad QBs throwing to him...

What am I missing

The injury concern is real, but he is "only" 32. He currently sits atop the team depth chart:http://www.denverbroncos.com/team/depth-chart.html

Another intriguing point is that Daniels scored double digits (ppr) in 7 of the 15 games, and 3 of the last 4 LY with the Ravens.
exactly. Also, is he really the 6th option? He may actually be the third at this point with no slot WR at the moment and no Sanders. An ADP of 131 is criminal in my mind for a guy who could finish top 10...

With the OL the way it is, they'll be starting Green to help the tackles more often than not.
There are a lot of ways to help the pass protection. For instance, they could just as easily go 12 personnel and still have Daniels as a receiving option. The signing of Mathis should help shore up the oline. My guess is Daniels is the third receiving option behind DT and Sanders, that may change by opponent and defensive scheme. It is very hard to ignore Daniels potential value in a Manning led offense. But his injury history to tough to ignore as well. At his current ADP I am buying.

Injury prone and like the 6th option in that offense. Manning is done
when has the starting TE been the 6th option in any Manning offence?
TE caliber like a Dallas Clark and a recently emerged Julius Thomas or a journeymen Medicore TE like Daniels.

My point was more offensive weapons

D Thomas

E sanders

Cj Anderson

Cody Lattimer

Owen Daniels

Ok so maybe 5th option on offense

This guy is a turd. He is done. I just think he should retire. Lets keep that rumor going as I have a draft Saturday.

(I have drafted him late in two drafts and he is going to be a stud this year. All you have to look at is Manning's tendency to target TE--especially in the red zone. Couple that with Kubiak's system and his familiarity with Daniels and then lets just throw in the first pre-season game Manning sees action, he is targeting Daniels multiple times. Those questioning health--he only missed one game last year and 2012 and 2011. His only big injury year was 2013 where he was out for 11 games.)

Draft him late--he will not disappoint.

If (I know it's a big IF) Daniels stays healthy, no way Lattimer has more targets in mho and I would think he and whoever the actual #1 targeted RB is will be relatively close in targets. Daniels may not be that athletic anymore, but he is a smart receiver and I think Manning will use him well. Probably not top 5 well, but top 10 should be fairly easy.

Sssshhhhhh...I LOVE that Daniels is a super sleeper! Don't alert people too much. Daniels is everything that manning loves. A sure-handed reliable tight end. Knows the playbook. Knows where to be in the field. Kubiak's system VERY friendly to the TE. He's my #1 late round sleeper target at TE. Rt there with eifert.

A lot of misinformation in one post.
2013 IR2009 IR

2010 missed 5 games hammy

2012 back injury

5th or 4th offensive option if that makes you feel better. It was my opinion not really mis information. It is also my opinion manning is on the decline and will be done after this year.

Based on Manning's history, and Kubiack's offensive approach I would put him tied for 3rd.

Granted Daniel's durability makes him a huge risk, which is why he is going so late in drafts. I think he is appropriately priced and worth a pick at his current ADP.

Tied with C.J.? Sounds about right.

Why is Owen Daniels like a possum?

Because he plays dead at home and get killed on the road.
