So when "a Saints fan" (singular) says something that you dislike, that says the entire fanbase shares a "rookie element"???Two separate issues. Tragedy does, indeed, build character in many. No one would (or should) question this as part of your identity. But, when a Saints fan says he doesn't care about getting embarrassed like that--and that they already have their SB--it's clear that there's a rookie element to the identity of being a Saints fan, still. Pretty-much anyone I know who roots for any team would be sick.I don't think anyone can question the loyalty and character of most Saints fans. The city and gulf south region have long supported that team when there was little to cheer for. Yes, prior to the last few years, the organization was not managed well and often put a poor product on the field. And yes, there were several uninspired efforts this year. But the Saints fans I would stack up against anyone for loyalty and passion.Often happens with new teams finding success. Just wouldn't have expected them to advertise it so blatantly like the Saints fans have here saying they don't care, it's no big deal, they'll sleep at night, etc. I think most true fans would be sick about this. They should be. What a disaster.:meh: most of them are bandwagon fans anyways.Complacent fans just happy for their one SB. Looks like the fanbase has about as much heart as that team we just watched.
They trailed by 7 at the time in the 4th with about 9 minutes to go.They either need 3 FGs to win or a TD to tie - on the road - against a team that had scored 38 points. Brees was also hot on the drive.Crazy that they didn't try for the TD there. Worst case - they still need a TD and Seattle is at their three.I'd really like to get a recap of exactly what the situation was here. As I recall, they could have tied it up, but instead opted to try to get their TD later, but the fact that nobody else is talking about this makes me think that I'm just remembering it wrong.9 minutes left in the game and your defense had held the Seahawks to (I think) back to back 3 and outs in their last 2 possessions.Seriously, I can't understand why this decision isn't being brought up in the post-game analysis. It looked like a clear error at the time to me, and it ended up costing them a chance to go to OT.I told my son at the time that this was a terrible decision. It ended up being the game-losing call by Payton.Don't like the FG there... but you do need 2 scores to win. I think I let Brees try and get the score tied, else pin Seattle at the 3.
If we hadn't won last year, I would be livid right now. But life is different after a championship... I've already seen what a championship team looks like and could tell this 2010 version was going to fall short. I'm sure Patriots, Steelers, and Colts fans can tell the same about their teams year to year.Nice level of fan investment there. At least the guys with bags on their heads cared.I didn't blame the injuries for this loss. And yeah, not worrying about a team that was going to lose next week anyway will definitely help me sleep at night.
Just got home and was watching the glory on ESPN and NFLN and constant replays of The Run. I realized that what I liked the most, even more than the Get Off Me stiffarm, was the fact that there were about 8 other Seahawks right there at the endzone line with Lynch when he crossed. The just shows a team effort on top of an outstanding, almost miraculous, BEAST MODE individual effort. The NFL got it wrong when they banned group celebrations. When you get a guard beating the RB to the endzone on a 67 yard run play they should be able to do anything they want as long as there are linemen present.Again, good game Saints. I know you're not happy with it but as perennial losers (and victims of large injuries the last few years)I can relate to your somewhat mitigated satisfaction over last year's success and this year's spirited disappointment. Or maybe those adjectives should be vice versa-ed. I became a Saints fan when Brees went there so there's to be no smack talking, just glee at an unexpected showing.
Thanks. That's what I was thinking too.Jeff Pasquino said:They trailed by 7 at the time in the 4th with about 9 minutes to go.They either need 3 FGs to win or a TD to tie - on the road - against a team that had scored 38 points. Not bitter at all. Just unusual to see this lack of investment in a team.guderian said:So when "a Saints fan" (singular) says something that you dislike, that says the entire fanbase shares a "rookie element"???Sounds like you're bitter about something and just taking shots.
Maybe you should consider that 50 words on a message board can't possibly be representative of one's level of investment in a team. Curious, how many Saints fans were trolling the Colts game thread? That's what I thought..

He's a Colts fan? How many of their fans met their team at the airport after the Superbowl? Wasn't it like 10 or 11? I heard we had ~200 last night.Maybe you should consider that 50 words on a message board can't possibly be representative of one's level of investment in a team. It's New Orleans. It would be tough to NOT find 200 rowdy people gathered somewhere. How many of their fans met their team at the airport after the Superbowl? Wasn't it like 10 or 11? I heard we had ~200 last night.
