**Wildcard MNF - Vikings at Rams** (+1.5, 47) 8:15 on ABC (2 Viewers)

So basically there never will be consequence for being able to do that.

Replay can’t be used to determine intentional grounding because that is exactly what that was.

The NFL is such a **** show. Replay is a joke too.

Has destroyed this game…..

OK, that is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen
People around me are so confused. They only showed like one replay.

Was that legit?? Whole stadium seemed collectively confused.
He did kind of flip it with his hand towards one of the Rams receivers that was in the backfield. Kind of like a backhanded toss, but it was clear. He wasn’t trying to target anybody I don’t even think he could’ve seen that somebody was over there at very worst. It should’ve been intentional grounding.

Insult to injury - it’s not even a sack.

I coulda lived with them saying he was in the grasp. But incomplete is just trash officiating.
for a football guy this is a bad take, stafford obviously flicked it forward on purpose so it’s no different than a shuffle pass which by rule is not a fumble when not caught
I like to think my bad takes are equal whether they’re at FBG or if I’m yelling at my television, thank you.

At worse how is that not grounding
the answer is there was a receiver in the area, sometimes guys like Stafford and Mahomes and others will complete throws like that. Now in this case there was no chance but can't have the rule be overly subjective.

Let’s see if Darnold will keep taking the checkdowns. That’s what got the offense going. I know he likes to go deeper but he should keep taking the free stuff underneath until they stop it

i just spit out my drink reading that :lmao:

It was a pass plain and simple (non-negotiable). You can throw the ball on the way down. The ref just missed it.

That said, we can argue whether it was grounding (regardless of whether it can technically be called), but it landed pretty close to Puka.

I'm sorry but they need to revisit the rules on that "forward pass". You really shouldn't be able to roll the ball like a bowling ball forward with no shot of a completion literally 2 feet in front of you and let it be considered a pass.

From the NFL rule book

INTENTIONAL GROUNDING

It is a foul for intentional grounding if a passer, facing an imminent loss of yardage because of pressure from the defense, throws a forward pass without a realistic chance of completion. A realistic chance of completion is defined as a pass that is thrown in the direction of and lands in the vicinity of an originally eligible receiver.

Sorry but that "pass" does not fit that definition.

Edit: Okay maybe it does. But that rule needs some work.
