I would love to see Favre play another year but I think the beating he took this year opened his eyes to how old he really is.

No Favre next year.

Oh God...please hang it up Brett.

It really is time. I will always remember your historic and legendary 2009 season. Still probably one of the greatest seasons you will ever see by a 39 year old athlete in any sport.

Thanks for the great football.

Good lord I hope so. So tired of hearing about him all game, every game. The Lions have made one of the biggest turnarounds this year of any NFL franchise (not necessarily from last year but from the last 16). Favre's not even playing and they talk about him all game long instead of the players on the field. There'll be a hundred Favre specials this offseason and next year, just shut up about him already. If he retires now then they can stop talking about him in time for the 2015 SuperBowl...

Answer is yes. Next question: When does he come back? Answer, sometime close to playoffs if there is a contender that loses their QB.

I think he's done this time, but I still think he's better right now (uninjured, of course) than about a dozen NFL starters. And it wouldn't surprise me to see a conder pursue him next season if they lose their starting QB to injury.

IF he can accept a back-up elder-statesman role, I could see him reuniting with Mike Holmgren in Cleveland. Not to start, but perhaps to play 3rd QB. Not sure how much of a teacher Favre has been over the years (didn't he view Aaron Rodgers more as competition than as protege?). But if Favre really wants to hang on, his best shot is to go out the way guys like Steve DeBerg and Chris Chandler did. Forget the spotlight, and forget the now-done starting streak. Seek to help out on Mondays-through-Saturdays. If Favre can resign himself to that, he can credibly hang on a bit longer. If he still wants to be The Man, he'll find it much harder to latch on somewhere.

No YesNo option?

I think he is done playing, he isn't the type to come back as a player-coach. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he retires and is hired back as a QB coach for next season though.

But it is Favre, so we'll just have to wait and see.

if he comes back with the sex case going on against him by the physical therapists there might be more discipline but it probably wont be nearly as bad as the beating he has coming from the lovely Deanna when he gets home and he deserves that for his john edwards ii wiener texting and running around on her and ruining his family and there lives in the process so actually i hope he retires and then she goes elen nordgren on him with a four iron

Wow! SWC has dropped to a new low. And the poll is pretty silly too, as there is not really a question at this point.

Imagine the Packers next year. If they are healthy they could be 10 and 0 when suddenly Rodgers goes down for the year with injury. Would they pursue him?

How about the Eagles next year. Say they trade Kolb, are in the hunt, and Vick gets busted up. Who could they turn to who is somewhat familiar with Andy Reid and his concepts?

The role of savior would appeal to him I think.

There are two kinds of older QBs...ones who always think they are "the man" and others who enjoy the game enough to stick around and contribute off the field. One is not worse than the other; the first is hard-wired to be "great" and that is why they are so good. The other, also worked as hard, but could put ego aside and contribute to the development of those that were about to take their jobs.First group includes people like Favre and Warner.Second group includes people like Todd Collins, Ty Detmer and even Kerry Collins. There is an obvious similarity (all played well into their 30s). The difference is the first group will be HOFers and the the second group will be remember solely for their longitivity in a brutal sport.
