Will Mike Pence be President in the next 4 years? (1 Viewer)

Have a few buddies offering me even odds on this (they wouldn't take 7:1 odds).  We'll likely set the stakes at $20 each, or a bottle of bourbon or case of beer or something.  It started with "Trump won't be President for the entirety of the next 4 years" to now "Pence will be President within the next 4 years."

Would you take that bet?

I predicted it before he got elected that he won't serve the whole term. He will proclaim that he has made America great again and hand over power to Pence within the next 4 years. He only has to convince himself....which he probably already has.

I made a beer bet with a friend that we'll see President Pence within two years. I feel Trump will cite "health reasons" from "working too hard", which will allow him to gracefully exit with his ego intact.

I don't like Trump, and voted for Hillary. And while I'm not in agreement with conservatives on many issues, Pence at least is a stable politician. I may disagree with him on policy, but at least he's fit to hold the office.

I really, really, really, really, hate saying this but...yeah.

It's the paying off of those bets that doesn't happen.  I'm still torn on accepting this or not.  I could potentially lose the wager in a month, but I'd have to wait the full 4 years to win it.

I'm not convinced Trump will be living 4 years from now. Don't see too many old and fat guys.
I see them all the time.  Open your eyes, chemistry is giving these people a much longer life....  granted not one filled with the stress I imagine the oval office could give you.

my answer is always, trump makes 4 years but martyrs himself and does not run for reelection.  he has done what he set out to do, unfair media, strain on family.

he pulls a jesse ventura

I don't think so. He would be listed as a president then.
It's Section 3 of the 25th Amendment.  It was my understanding at the time that Cheney had every Presidential ability and right at his disposal.  I remember the news saying something to the extent that all he was going to do was sit in a room somewhere.....but I kind of remember a thread on these boards joking(I think) that he'd do a bunch of ####.

ETA: As to the official nature of listing hims as the POTUS....I don't know. It's only happened once before Cheney.

I'll take on all bets that Trump is president for his entire term (assassination makes bet null), with the side that says 'Trump is prez.'

I'd push for the Trump angle.  We don't know how much of what takes him down Pence will have been involved in.

'I bet the Cowboys win by 10 Sunday.... Unless Zeke or Dak get hurt, then it's a null bet'....
It makes sense. It's an impeachment/resignation argument he's making.

I agree with FC42 and his qualifiers on this one, but I'd take the bet for a beer that he resigns/impeached, I think.

What do you mean "push for the Trump angle"?  There is a better chance that Trump isn't president at some point than there is that Pence will be president at some point in the next 4 years.

Oh yeah, if this is money on the bar I'd say anywhere from Beer to an Andrew Jackson... he's flipping out. I don't think the government can function like this, I don't think he can.

Obviously.  Pence being president requires Trump to not be President.  Trump not being president doesn't necessarily (but likely) mean that Pence becomes president.

Here is the bet I'm offering:

Trump does not resign and is not impeached in the next 4 years.

I'll take up to $1k of exposure if anyone wants it.

Right, which is why I'd rather have the "no" side of "Pence will be president in the next 4" than to take the "yes" of "trump won't be president."  Just didn't know what you meant by "push the Trump angle."

It's hilarious (to me) if you understand the context.  But I guess perspective and all.
Yeah, not #####ing, just seen lives torn apart from that stuff.

It probably has different meaning and context to you. I personally am not complaining; I think it's funny. It just...well...it is.

it deserved comment. It's Family Guy making fun of Cookie Monster by way of crack cocaine. It stood out to me the first time I saw it, too.  Sweets as drugs. Not too far off.

I hear yea.  I do IT (internally) for a nonprofit that provides homeless and housing services to over 300 people every day.  To say we've been rocked by the heroin epidemic here in NH would be an understatement - I've had to learn how to administer Narcan.  But, I'm of the mind that the most serious issues we face on a daily basis require a comedic relief/standpoint: hence the avatar.  I also recognize not everyone feels/sees that same way, but what can ya do?  I appreciate your thoughts, though, as it certainly is a serious issue.

God, I recently spent time with a ton of people on Suboxone. Yep. I laugh when I see it (your avatar). i really wasn't complaining, just remembering some bad stuff.

I have a hard time believing any president will every be assassinated again. There is too much secret service and other safe guards in place. If we can go 8 years without a confirmed attempt on Obama's life I just don't see it happening ever again.

I'd want the "Donald doesn't finish the term" over "pence will be president".  The odds are similar but there is a chance that Pence doesn't make it ( steps down or is impeached because of  health issues, scandal etc).  You'd lose the bet if Donald retires mid term but Pence had stepped down before that.  Unlikely but who knows

These 8 years of Trump will be fantastic. Truly amazing. You won't believe what they have in store for us.

I highly doubt it, but I do think Trump decides not to run again in 2020. He'll take his victory, run the I was never defeated shtick and bow out.

I'm the one being offered the wager, though.  I'm the one say that Pence won't be president in the next four years.

Trump has far more hatred directed towards him than Obama ever had.  It is not even close, IMHO.
