Will that dog hunt? 2024 Win-Now Dynasty & Redraft (2 Viewers)

Hot Sauce Guy

Footballguy
Always a fun topic - maybe a stitch early for redraft. But post up your redraft & win-now dynasty rosters, & we’ll collectively tell you if that dog will hunt or not.

Please state league size, starting roster format & basic scoring.

Please note: this is a friendly topic, so please be respectful in your responses. Most answers expected to be some variation of “will hunt” or “nope, won’t hunt.”

If you believe a roster won’t hunt, maybe explain why & suggest areas of improvement.

So without further ado, post up those win-now dynasty & redraft rosters! Will that dog hunt?

Bench players of any note. Deshaun Watson, Jaylen Wright, Kendre Miller, Justice Hill, Jalen Tolbert. The rest is basically dart throw RB's and a few long shot tight ends like Parkinson and Wiley. I went all in on the starting team being as good as possible.

I won the league 3 of first 4 years, made Ship game in 2021 and lost, and on a streak of losing in Conf finals last 2 years. I have a shot, just gotta get past the CC games that have been tripping me up.

10 team dynasty. 1QB, 0.5 PPR. The startup was in 2020 and I absolutely cleaned up in the draft, grabbing Tyreek and Davante at 1.08/2.03 and then focusing on rookies. And I have hit on some very fortunate picks in the subsequent rookie drafts (ARSB in the 4th, Tank Dell in the 3rd, Achane at 1.10 etc). I steamrolled the league LY, looking to do the same this year

QB - Dak
RB - Jonathan Taylor
RB - Devon Achane
WR - Ceedee Lamb
WR - ARSB
WR - Tyreek Hill
TE - Trey McBride
FLEX - Brandon Aiyuk
FLEX - Tank Dell

Bench
QB - Stafford
RB - Mostert, Swift, Jerome Ford, Jaleel McLaughlin, Dobbins, Bigsby

Had a deal to move Aiyuk/Dell for 1.01 (MHJ) agreed to last week but the guy got cold feet and backed out.

Levis is my QB2 and McCarthy as a future piece, have J Williams with Estime, Irving, Mattison at RB, Mims, K Coleman, Addison, M Wilson, Flournoy at WR, Mayer and Theo Johnson at TE.
Won it last year. Been trying to change up the roster a bit via trades, but no one is responding.
Will upgrade K and Def based on matchups, no big deal.

12 team SF

Q (sf) purdy, Watson / Caleb (Darnold, lock)
R (2) Henry, Barkley, (Walker, J Wright)
W (3) G Wilson, Evans, Kupp (Lockett, DK, B Thomas, Diontae, Mims)
T Kelce / Kincaid
K Bass (Reichard)
2 flex (probably from the WR, Maybe Kincaid)
SF probably Watson or Caleb
DL (2) Garrett, Hutch (paye, Greenard)
LB (2) Roquan, Logan Wilson (Pace, Campbell, Spillane)
DB (2) D James, Battle (Bynum)
IDP flex (probably from the LB)

Pretty sure my QB2 is my weakness, at least until Caleb grows.

Nice team! Herbert is undervalued right now imo but he’s your weak link. 🦌

I have MANY dynasty teams, but I'll just post this one startup we did in Jan. I am very happy with it overall, in this SF Best Ball PPR Dynasty format. We start 1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 1te, 3 reg flex, 1 SF

Lamar, Jayden Daniels, Carr, Howell
Taylor, Montgomery, Warren, Gibson, Chandler, Demercado, Jordan Mason, Jamaal Williams
Chase, DJ Moore, McLaurin, Marquise Brown, Dotson, Worthy, Mooney, Curtis Samuel, McCaffrey, Boyd, Tolbert, Tim Patrick, Trey Palmer, Dyami Brown
McBride, J. Woods, Conklin, Cole Turner

My overall RB depth could be better, but overall I like that I have a top 5 player/potential at each position in Lamar, Taylor, Chase, and McBride. We all have blinders on our team to a point, but I do feel like my dog should hunt, but what do you guys think?

How does one end up with Lamar, Chase and JT in a new SF dynasty? Does JT go that low?

10 man 2QB PPR, 1.5 TE Premium. Start 11. Won the ship last year after being the worst team in the league a year and a half prior.

CJ Stroud(starter)
Brock Purdy(starter)
Bryce Young
Geno Smith

Bijan Robinson(starter)
Jahmyr Gibbs(starter)
Rachaad White(starter)
Kendre Miller and some other less notables

Puka Nacua(starter)
Brandon Aiyuk(starter)
Davante Adams(starter)
Nico Collins(starter)
DK Metcalf(starter)
Tee Higgins, Zay Flowers, Jordan Addison, Shaheed, Wicks, Burton, etc

Kyle Pitts(starter)
Jake Ferguson
Luke Musgrave

Have made a couple moves since last year including moving my 25’ 1st and Kyren for Puka.

I know we're supposed to be evaluating for this year (even in the case of dynasty teams), which, it totally hunts this year. But dynasty-wise, for a 14-teamer?? Just own the league why don't you. Other than questionable RBs after Hall. But, that's no big deal when you only need 1 additional RB after Hall, out of 9 starters.

12 team PPR dynasty, start 1 QB

i agree, Herbert can be the weak link. I am not sure how things will go there, is McConkey a PPR machine? Will Johnston become anything? Their RBs dont catch much. Palmer stay healthy? But Levis could be sneaky good, esp in that wide open division. He has more than enough weapons.

12 team 1QB 1PPR. Starters

Dak.
Herbert
Hall, Warren. Chubb, Pollard, Ford, Miller, Dowdle
Chase, Tyreek, Evans, Meyers (Flex). Ridley, Sutton, Palmer, Mike Williams, Shaheed
Pitts. Musgrave, Okonkwo
Cowboys. Packers

Should definitely hunt, but hard to call it the favorite being thin at RB. If Hall goes down I'm gonna be playing "which flex RB goes off" every week...

12-team, 20-man, QRRWWFKD, PPR dynasty, returning champion, feeling good about this year, but everything changes like 🫰 THAT! in this game.

QB: Jalen Hurts
RB: Bijan Robinson
RB: Jahmyr Gibbs
WR: CeeDee Lamb
WR: AJ Brown
FX: Travis Etienne

Bench RB/WR:
Chris Olave
DK Metcalf
Chris Godwin
D'Andre Swift

Depth/prospect RB/WR:
Jaxon Smith-Njigba
Jameson Williams
Rashod Bateman (cut?)

Backup QB's:
Geno Smith
Bryce Young

+3 or 4 rookies depending on whether I cut Bateman, but I don't even have any picks until 23rd overall. The rookies should not be relevant unless I hit a Puka.

12 team, 2 QB, Keep 6 and lose the round.

Murray-Rd 3
Love-Rd 14

Hall-Rd 2

AR St Brown-Rd 16
Nakua-Rd 18

Last is a tossup at the moment between Z White or C Watson (both Rd 13) depending on how camp goes. Could also keep Bijan in round 1, which might be the best option. I’ve been building for a bit and feel like this is the year to go all in. Pick 9th, so should be a good RB/WR available in round 1. Start 2/2/3 (no TE req), no PPR, bonus point for tds 20 yards + which goes up by 1 every 10 additional yards (61 yard TD is 11 pts), 5 pts per passing TD.

How does one end up with Lamar, Chase and JT in a new SF dynasty? Does JT go that low?
This is a $200 league with several savy owners...and yet somehow Chase fell to the 2.7 pick (3rd WR off the board behind JJ and Lamb) and then Taylor fell to 3.6. I actually didn't make any trades so my entire roster was my original picks from the 6th spot. 6 RBs went before Taylor (CMC, Gibbs, Robinson, Hall, Kyren Williams, and Achane) so I'd say Taylor should have gone 5th but I was happy to get him as the 7th RB off the board.

12 team PPR dynasty, start 1 QB

Strengths- two top 6 RB's, 3 top 15 overall players, 4 players in total typically going in first two rounds and in general all starting RB's and WR's typically top 4 round draft picks giving you a full lineup of Rb's and WR's that are studs or extreme high quality.

Weakness-Herbert and Levis should be serviceable but you'll cede points at that spot vs other teams. Njoku's splits with and Watson are well known and if that remains the case again you'll also be losing some production at TE vs a lot of your comp so that moves you to two softer lineup spots.

Opportunites- Growth/improvment of the young WR's. There is level up potential with the one's you list in your starting lineup and bench which of course could enhance your lineup and build out the quality of your depth.

Threats-unless/until some of those young WR's step up if injuries hit and you got to go into your bench the options are not overly abundant.I'm counting two players right now I could live with putting in a lineup on your bench, Javonte and Addison and I view them more as Rb3/WR3 types. As I mentioned maybe some of the WR's step up but really hard for me to see any of those bench Rb's other then a Denver or any backup TE being someone you'd feel good about putting in a lineup.

12 team QB-- RB-RB--WR-WR-WR--TE- F--PK--DST- Standard scoring-

Caleb Williams (Herbert, Howell, Geno)
Singletary, Zeke, Flexing Chuba (bench Vidal, Dowdle, Pierce, Chase Brown, Zach Evans, Dillon Johnson)
Hopkins, Diontae, Ridley (Jamo, McConkey, Burton, Parker Washington)
Njoku (Hunter Henry, Otton, Bellinger, Eric All)

More like hunting for the 1.01.

Strengths- dang near everything. All star starting lineup. Top two QB, 2 top 4 RB's, top two WR. There will be drafts where you entire starting lineup, except maybe the QB, will go in round two plus one bench player. I think you could wipe out your starting lineup and have a shot to be a top 6 teams.

Weakness- None really, a Hurts injury could leave you in the bottom half of QB production.

Opportunites-The 3 depth/prospect WR's you listed stepping up their game.

Threats-WW3 or some ill placed bad week when things misfire that week or two at the end you need it most.

Old is right, but I do think you have 1 more season left in this team. Worst case is most of your old guys still have value and will be tradeable at the deadline for solid assets if you find yourself out of contention.

I like the WR depth but don't love having to rely on any of them behind Brown and Cooper as every week starters. You're likely going to pick the wrong one to start some weeks being that you have to start 3. Gibbs should be planted in your flex almost every week. You've got enough boom upside that a couple of guys (Hall, Gibbs, Brown, Kyler, Andrews) could outright win you a matchup themselves. This dog should hunt but I wouldn't call it the favorite.

But dynasty-wise, for a 14-teamer?? Just own the league why don't you.
Ah dunno bout that. A lot of unproven in this lineup. MHJ, Nabers, JSN, even Garret Wilson to a large degree still. And 3/4's of the Rb's.

It's got more dynasty value than it does production currently I'd say.
Definitely agree with last sentence, but the dynasty value is off the charts such that I would expect a lot of production. I get what you're saying -- unproven ... never good to count the chickens before they hatch. But Mahomes, Hall, Lamb, and pretty much Wilson are very proven (Wilson has made it clear he would likely be elite with a good QB). And Harrison and Nabers are such good prospects that it would be actually be quite a surprise if they aren't killing it over the next five years cumulatively ... Not your everyday "really good prospects, we'll see what happens". Though there are plenty of cases of elite prospect duds, I get it.

12 Team Dynasty 1QB 2RB 3WR 1Flex 1TE PPR
QB- Hurts, Goff
RB- Gibbs, ETN, Cook, Montgomery, Ty Chandler, etc.
WR- Tyreek, Amon Ra, Devonta Smith, DJ Moore, Jayden Reed, Darnell Mooney, Wan'Dale, Rondale, Trey Palmer, Gabe Davis, etc.
TE- Andrews, Likely, Fant

Finished 2nd last year.I have all my picks for next year to use in case I need some RB help mid season. This was a massive rebuild after taking over a team that was about as bad as it gets in 2020.

Hard to state definitively if a team will compete without knowing what the others look like in the league, but here's my team. Entering it's first year of being competitive after two miserable but interesting seasons after I jettisoned the older guys. Maybe 40-50 trades in total to get to this point.

14 team - Standard - Start 9.

QB - Mahomes
RB - Breece Hall
RB - Jonathon Brooks
WR - Lamb
WR - Garrett Wilson
WR - MHJ
TE - Ferguson
Flx - Nabers
Flx - JSN

Bench players of any note. Deshaun Watson, Jaylen Wright, Kendre Miller, Justice Hill, Jalen Tolbert. The rest is basically dart throw RB's and a few long shot tight ends like Parkinson and Wiley. I went all in on the starting team being as good as possible.
I don't think it's ready this year with so many rookies but should be a really good windwo opening for 2025.

12 team Dynasty Leage 1/1/3/Flex/TE

Kyler Murray
Justin Herbert
Daniel Jones

Breece Hall
Jahmyr Gibbs

AJ Brown
George Pickens
Amari Cooper
Brandin Cooks
Rasheed Shaheed
Mike Williams
Marvin Mims
Jahan Dotson

Mark Andrews
Chig Okonkwo
Juwan Johnson

Rookie Draft Pick: 2.06, 2.09, 3.02
Starting lineup is definitely in the hunt but there is little room to survive any injuries.

I'd love to hear the cliffnotes on the moves made to take a massive rebuild to a team that looks like this. Nice work. Hunts for sure.

Two questions:

1. How does scoring work for the Head Coach position?
2. Other than continued tanking, what purpose does it serve to have that kind of talent on the taxi squad? Particularly Bijan.

The team I took over in April 2020 had past prime vets like Julio and Gurley who I sold for any late picks I could get. Someone offered me a late 1st for Darrel Henderson which I took because my team didn't even have a 1st round pick for that rookie draft. Though that draft was mostly a bust- Reagor, Denzel Mims were my first 2 picks but I did have an early 3rd that I used on Justin Herbert. Probably wasn't a smart move strategy-wise but I was a big believer in the player. From there it was a mix of draft picks, waivers, and trades:

Key waiver adds a long the way
Jaylen Warren, Rasheed Shahid, Ty Chandler. I just kept churning through players. Anyone who showed any signs of life got a shot. Most were totally useless but these 3 stuck.

Key Draft Picks
Being bad helped a lot lol. Took ETN over Pitts, sucked my into Breece Hall and Gibbs. There were some good draft day trades to move back and get more picks or vets like Mooney, Montgomery. There were many terrible picks like the aforementioned Reagor and Mims. There was also David Bell, Terrace Marshall and Rondale Moore. There were also some picks that I got right like James Cook, Jayden Reed and sort of Jahan Dotson (see more about that later). Found great 5th round value on Pacheco. And of course, the draft pick that really changed the fate of the team was Amon Ra at 2.4. I liked the player and thought his landing spot would yield immediate production but obviously couldn't have expected he would become one of the true cornerstone dynasty assets.

Key Trades
2021: After Herbert hit his rookie year, I knew I had to sell because QB isn't the way to rebuild in single QB. I was a believer in Hurts and thought he was worth the gamble so I was able to make 2 simultaneous trades that swapped Herbert for Hurts and an early 2nd (which I believe became Amon Ra).

2022: Inexplicably was offered Dallas Goedert for a bunch of scraps and a late pick. That was the quickest I've ever accepted a trade.

2023: Controversially traded Breece Hall for Tyreek (there was some other stuff but that was the real meat of it). Packaged a 2024 1st and 2nd, plus Dotson and Godert for Devonta Smith and Mark Andrews. Mid-season, traded Warren and Pacheco for DJ Moore (an hour before the TH night game where Moore had 200 yards and 3 TDs lol- the league chat was funny that night). Also moved Rashid Shaheed and a late pick for Goff and Isiah Likely which worked out great because Andrews got hurt a week or 2 later.

2024: No moves yet but I have flirted with using 2025 picks to add Achane and Mostert, DK Metcalf or Deebo. But I figure it's best to hold on to them to get a better sense for where my team will need help mid season.

1. Basically 5 points for a win, then +/- for score. A great game like 35-10 will get you 10 points. While the losing coach 10-35 scores -5.
2. I’m not going to trade them away. Load up for next year.

Roast my team.

12-teamer, start 1 QB, 1-5 RB, 1-5 WR, 1-5 TE, 1 defense (flex 5, start 10 total). Kickers not required but can be flexed (it happens). 0.5/1.0/1.5 prem-TE ppr.

Coming off back to back 7th place finishes. Have to cut four before week 1.

I think you're probably an Alpha WR away from contending. If it's me, I'm trading a combo of picks and players for an Alpha WR in an effort to compete ASAP since your good RB room has a limited shelf life.

Yeah I was going go say, the WR room keeps the team out of the hunt imo.

Snake bit 3rd year dynasty team trying to finally make a run this year.

12 team, ppr, not TE mandatory
QRWWWFKD (note just 1 RB mandatory starter)

Cut down to 13 players happens early-August and then we draft shortly after.

10 of 13 keepers are pretty much set:
QB: Stroud
RB: JTaylor, JWilliams, ZWhite
WR: Lamb, Olave, Pickens, JReed, Kirk, Downs

Need to pick 3 from this group (in my current priority order)
RJohnson, JMeyers, JKDobbins, JMcLaughlin, TyChandler, EGray, KHerbert, APierce, Cousins

Drafting from the 5 slot.

Too many rookies to lean on at RB and WR in the top spots
Just my humble opinion, quite a few parts I like, just not the rookies

I have the hottest of messes at QB. Finished 2nd last year.

12 team ppr best ball, start 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te, 1 r/w/t, k, d

QB - Geno, Fields, O'Connell, Nix, Penix
RB - Hall, Bjian, Walker, Mostert, Ford
WR - Chase, Deebo, Hollywood, Sutton, Jamo, Shaheed, Shakir, Wicks
TE - Kelce, Kmet, Ferguson
K - Elliott
D - Cowboys
