I never really stressed about covid... but the weight of it falls off immediately and noticeably. 

I imagine the world stressing was affecting me after all.

I’m good waiting (got a good work from home gig as does the wife) but piece of mind would obviously be amazing. I have been golfing a ton and going to tap rooms when weather allows so am taking some risks there along with grocery store and other stuff I just have to do in daily life.

If they are just sitting there unused that’s crazy. I will look into it. Thanks for the info.

Greetings, happy to answer the question but I have an entire thread in the FFA, free of politics(I don't post much in this forum) and we had a few naysayers in that thread that didn't want to believe me but low and behold yes you can be 18+, have a Dr's note and it can even be anxiety, 20 lbs overweight, all that easy stuff you get a medicinal card for and you are gold. 

One of the problems we are finding and I call on my good man @Capellawho lives here in Florida as well but I'm coming across folks in that 65+, 55+ crowd that don't want to get their shots. I think by now almost every Senior 75+, 65+ has access to get vaccinated or can be in line within a week or less. I know some folks in the more rural sections of Florida might have to drive as much as 100+ miles to get their shots, not all of those folks are gonna hop in the car and I understand. But where I am, Palm Beach/Martin County area, lots of Seniors and lots of access points everywhere around here to get a shot, it's a tough pill to swallow when you hear some of them say they aren't going to do it.  

What if we just bumped up Social Security checks for 3 months for everyone who gets vaccinated? Publix is paying their employees $150 a piece to get vaccinated so that everyone will do it "voluntarily"

Ok. Thanks for your info. I would say being so cavalier about all this could rub some folks the wrong way I would think, but if these shots aren’t getting used it is good that they get into arms as fast as possible.

This is an insanely complex issue to work out, it won’t be perfect.

Bottom line is I’m happy to hear you, and as many people as possible, are getting vaccinated. Means we are that much closer to getting out of this ####.

Washington State apparently has similar ways for people under 65 to get the shot. Just wanted to point out that WA isn’t slowing it down as you alluded, in fact they are statistically doing better than majority of states.

Just a reminder that my post was meant for the two folks I quoted. I only posted at what they were saying which was their States were slow, was happy to answer or add info to your question. Good Luck in your quest if you haven't already been vaccinated. 

I'm with you, let's get out of this #### and move forward.

This is me. I lived my life without much restrictions and figured if I get it so be it. But it was always in the back of my mind. Now a week after shot 1 I feel like as my immunity builds a great weight is lifting.

Sounds as if you can get it in Washington if you are so inclined as well.

Washington State has shot more of their available vaccine into arms than other states and has a higher percentage of population vaccinated. Kind of hard to say we aren’t doing a good job.

Maybe we have more medical staff than other states (everyone I know under 60 who has had it works in that field) .

Didn’t want to turn this into a thing just was curious how I kept seeing so many people are getting this.

Yes. I have been following all the rules, state has been pretty restrictive but I have been doing life things and there is a random bad luck factor that comes into play if you do anything.

Would suck bad to get this right before getting the vaccine is available and then have to sweat any long term issues or passing it to people.

 
I heard once you land in Orlando airport, they give you a shot as you get off the plane 

My family has Dr notes but still having trouble with appointments.  They are early 50s

Florida requires doctors notes? In Louisiana, it’s all self-reporting — the cursory state form you fill out is even called a Self-Attestation Form.

This is what we're doing too, and I strongly support this.  I'd much rather have a few people cut in line by making up something about hypertension than have people miss out on or delay their vaccination because we place the extra hurdle of a doctor's note in their way.

Right, and every single state uses less than 100% of the shots they have.  Some more so than others. I'd guess the officials planned for some vaccine grift and aren't particularly bothered by it.  We're going to have so much more supply than demand very soon anyway.

If you'd like to discuss the pattern of which states got preferential treatment early in the process, you should take it to the politics forum. 

 
I'm still not part of an eligible group in TX, but Small Town TX had a surplus of shots that were about to expire, and offered stabs to first-come, first-served.  I was there with bells on.

Three weeks now until shot #2.  Two weeks behind my wife.  So by mid-Apr we should be gtg for living life again.  

I was always eager to get the shot, but I still failed to anticipate how much it would improve my mental state after getting it.  Feel so much more optimistic now about life in general.

Signed up for a same day appointment and received the J&J shot today in NC. I was technically in an eligible group even though I can and will continue to work from home but there are more shots than people getting them at this point. Can pretty much pick any time you want on any day so don’t feel like I took a shot from someone.

I agree with this simply because, given the effect of COVID on people's personal economics, a lot of low income folks can't even really afford to pay a doctor fee just to get a note. It's an unnecessary burden.

 
First "fully vaccinated" events this week. 1) Watched the grandkids for about 5 hours last night. 2) Went to Rooms To Go and bought a couch. We masked up at RTG even though we are fully vaccinated.

Never did I say Washington was slow.  I said we'd been in the same tier for vaccines for ages and I didn't know when, as a non-senior who works from home and has no comorbidities, I would come up.  It is likely, as has been pointed out, that a larger percentage here want to take the vaccine which ultimately will be a good thing.

I feel like we are, or should be at least, past the point of taking a shot from somebody. Everybody 65 or over at this point should have it and if they don’t well we gotta move on. They can now join the line if they want it. You just can’t prioritize one subset forever.

Wife and I received 2nd Moderna shot today. She is in a great mood and plans on getting her done finally in @ two weeks.

Best friend's wife refuses to get shot but he really wants it and awaits time period to get second dose.

Every region is different. I guess I should have specified that. If a state hasn’t had the same kind of supply for whatever reason then it’s fine to keep that going. Where I live 80% of the prioritized pop has had it yet the boomers are the only ones who can largely still get it. Meanwhile 40 year olds in public facing jobs can’t get in line. It’s stupid.

That makes sense.   My experience is similar to Navin Johnson.  Parents are 73 and just got their first doses.   Every state/county/etc is in a different spot right now.

Really nice to see all the wealthy white people around me jumping the line though.  I’ve learned a lot about which people in my circle have moral standards and which people don’t.

My worry is, people over 65 are less active and less likely to spread the virus. I think we need to get the younger, more active ages vaccinated to truly stem the tide. If we never take the lid off the vaccination limits, it will continue to spread. I'm not saying prioritize younger folks. But I truly feel we need to allow them the opportunity if we are going to defeat this thing,

I haven't read this whole thread, but how do you know people are "jumping" the line. And how is it even possible. What does wealth and race have to do with it?

Most (all?) states are honor system. Claiming a condition is quite easy for those with less of a moral compass.

I personally know a large number of wealthy white people who are “jumping the line” in Illinois.  They tell me how they’ve received a dose.  That they “had a friend get them a vaccine even though they weren’t up for one yet.”   These are people I know well from work and social circles.

I’m not making a broader statement about the rest of America.  This is purely based on personal experience.  Dozens of examples.   

 
Open on the 15th in CA to anyone with a comorbidity. I have two or three. That said, it's open to self-declaration. I have the funny feeling I'll be in line for quite some time if people are allowed to self-declare. This is making me all nervous again. I was fine not really going with places and wearing a mask. Now I'm very concerned that I'll get it right before the shot, which would be awful.

I agree that the pandemic has been a mirror. About to watch it unfold in CA.

I'm relatively young and healthy but I qualified for the vaccine based on a couple of conditions. I was quite surprised that no one at the clinic questioned my eligibility. It would have been easy -- too easy, really -- to simply lie on the forms.

I've been hesitant to tell anyone about my vaccination status because I don't want to be accused of jumping the line. #vaccineshaming
