WIS XV: Alphabet Soup with a side of Salary- Draft & Season Thread (1 Viewer)

The Rabbits with 6 HRs in game one by 6 different players and a 9-3 victory. Good start. First time we have been over .500 in forever.

Why won't WIS acknowledge my dominance? I'm 4-0 and they have me behind a 7-3 team in their bull#### standings.

Sober I probably wouldn't give a ####, but I'm :banned: and angry about this injustice.

Does anyone know what the worst record there has been with WIS? I would think even if you tried to suck on purpose, you would still win some games with a legal lineup and pitching staff.

I believe Hoss only won like 20 games in WIS II.That was back before WIS improved the AI so that the computer manager takes tired players out of your lineup. Hoss let his team go dead and a lot of his players fatigued beyond repair.

Update:TRE live games: 8Dr Detroit live games: 2
Larry live games: 20
Times Larry used his full clock: 22
I can't get here during work except on my phone...so when my lists got sniped, I had nothing left and had to search that way... Plus I had no way to know when I was up, and sometimes if I did i had no way to check as I was busy unexpectedly...
Remember the WIS Yahoo! Stock forum? You've got to want it bad enough, lolly.

statistically anamoly of the day:

1929 Hack Wilson - Walked 79 Times, Struck Out 83 Times

WIS Thru 12 Games and 52 ABs - Walked 0, Struck Out 23 Times

i just discovered his 83 Ks lead teh league, so I assume this is the issue?

Wilson's normalized SO/100AB is 19, which isn't high by modern standards. He'll strike out a lot more than he did in 1929 but I doubt he'll lead the league when it's all said and done.

I didn't think the deadball-pitching thing still worked.

Jfranco, you were wrong about Addie Joss -- he's abysmal.

OAV is a problem (19 hits in 12.2 innings) but I think he'll come around and be solid. It's only 2 starts. I don't think Chase is a good place for him to pitch at all which doesn't help.

I wanted a park that was close to neutral, but a little tilted toward offense. It's only +1 for singles, doubles, & LFHRs. If a pitcher is good in this thing, he shouldn't need Petco to be productive.

Yeah, but +1 for singles when OAV is his biggest problem, and +3 for triples when deadballers tend to give up more of them... it's not a good fit. Joss belongs in Kingdome or Tiger Stadium or something. Doesn't mean he won't be OK, but he's going to give up a lot of hits, and sometimes they'll get strung together. And other times, the fact that he doesn't walk anyone and keeps the ball in the park will mean he gives you a 7ip 10h 0bb 0hr 2r kind if performance.

it's also pretty apparent already from the league ERA that is north of 5, that hitting in general is better than pitching (in general...yada yada yada). Any edge you give hitters (with ballpark, bad defense, etc.) that prolongs innings is just going to spiral for the the pitcher. Once one guy gets on, it just increases their advantage as the defense goes to double play depth, etc. Those slight edges don't seem like a lot, but they do add up even for the deadballers. Having said all that, its still just 8 games.
