Those who understood the big picture and Thompson's role as GM have always supported him. It's only two weeks but callers in this camp are starting to gloat a bit. Those who were Favre fans first still hate the guy for letting Favre go. They probably will never forgive him. One particualr radio personality here in Madison in particular stands out. Mike Heller essentially said before the season started that if Rodgers throws 100 TD's and 0 INT's and Favre throws 100 INT's and 0 TD's it was still the wrong decision. He expects respect for this stance by claiming that once you make a decision on an issue you stick with it. He echoes those in this camp be claiming Thompson is arrogant and stubborn.
Heller and Murphy are idiots and unabashed Favre lovers. Most of those in the media seem to recognize TT's ability and handling of the situation as being fairly good given the hand they were dealt (Favre limiting their options, and having to make chicken salad out of .. well you know). However, the last week or two the Packers have mostly been drowned out in Madison and Milwaukee by the Brewers collapse and subsequent Yost firing. I think once the Brewers are out of it (another heartbreaking loss today to the Cubs letting them drop 4 on them in the bottom of the ninth to tie it up, arg!), people will likely survey the landscape and I hope TT gets more attention for doing well. Some people are idiots and still think though that Favre would have 6 TDs and the Packers would have won the games 45-0, etc. etc. While I don't think Rodgers deserves the injury prone label he's been given by all Favre lovers and TT Bashers, if he does get injured, those folks will come out in full force, even if the Packers are 10-0.
