Todays Woot - Cobra XRS9500 radar detector

Does anyone still use these things?

With my Mom living an hour north on the highway now, and me travelling up to see her every other weekend, I was actually considering getting one of these.

I typically travel ~10 MPH over the speed limit, but have noticed myself creeping over that once in a while if I am not paying attention.

Is this thing going to help me? or should I save the $60 for the time I get a ticket?

Bag O’ Crap XI: Crappy BalboaStill your beating heart and lower your expectations, because something worthless this way comes: yes, it’s another good-for-nothing Bag O’ Crap! If you’ve got any brains sloshing around that skull of yours, you’ll put down your credit card and move away from the keyboard. Ever wondered how close you can come to actual consumer fraud and still get away with it? You’re looking at it.See, Woot Dot Com is officially two years old today, which explains why we keep biting the other kids when they try to take our toys. While we’re distracted by the intricacies of using the potty, don’t do anything you might regret. That includes forking over eighty hard-earned dimes for three of the most useless flibbertigibbets ever wrought by the hand of men. But if you absolutely insist, at least waste money responsibly, like so:1. WHEN YOU ORDER THIS ITEM, YOU’LL GET ONE BAG WITH (up to) THREE CRAPS IN IT.2. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SELECTING THE QUANTITY OF THREE WHEN YOU ORDER.3. YOU WILL WASTE FREIGHT IF YOU ORDER FEWER THAN THREE.The item quantity you select is the number of crappy items we’ll put in your bag. Select THREE. You will only get one bag. Later, you can watch with smug satisfaction as a surprisingly large number of less observant Wooters complain on the forums about their two missing bags. But don’t get too smug, sucker – you threw good money after bad crap, just like they did.We say again: YOU WILL GET ONE BAG CONTAINING THE QUANTITY OF CRAPS YOU SELECT. How many bags? ONE. How many craps? One, two, or three, as you choose. So CHOOSE THREE. We can’t make this any clearer. If you’re seized by fits of involuntary mouse-clicking and you inadvertently select less than three, you can try emailing service@woot.com. Once they’re finished laughing at you, maybe they’ll amend your order. Maybe not.If you have any doubt about whether this Bag O’ Crap will be worth the money, take it from us: you’d be more entertained by setting fire to eight dollar bills and pitching them one by one off of a bridge. We make absolutely no guarantees, warranties, or manatees about the bags or what’s in them, except to promise that they will be useless, worthless, pointless, and meaningless. And yet, you’re still desperate to have one! It’s terrible what addiction does to people.THE HOLY CRAP COMMANDMENTS v2.0:I. Thou shalt expect nothing beyond one bag of some kind and your chosen quantity of crappy items (which should be THREE).II. Thou shalt not whine and complain when some people’s crap turns out to be nicer than yours.III. Thou shalt take a moment to consider whether you might be better off just not buying this crap.IV. Thou shalt not order just one crap and blame it on anything but your own inattention.V. To paraphrase Stephen Stills, shalt thou not get the crap you want, want the crap you get.

Wooo hoooo .... Woot off!

One more day of zero production at work

On a side note, my son's b-day was yesterday. He got 2 Woot's for his b-day, both were a hit. Thanks Woot.

Look out now we got a woot off coming look out now we got a woot off :)
WTF is a woot off? Great deal on that Rio carbon BTW, I bought one for my wife for Christmas last year and she really likes it... (It wouks with the Napster to go service which is really cool)
Woot usually sells one item per day. When it's sold out, you have to wait until the next day to see what they are selling. In a Woot Off, once an item is sold out, they put up another item. Goes all day long, sometimes it goes for two days.

How much was that X800?

List of things I am hoping for today ...

1. Power supply for my computer, or, a bare bones.

2. Another hard drive (I'm sure we'll see the Caviar at some point)

3. COFFEE MAKER - Dead God Woot ... please ... is a coffee maker too much to ask?

4. Gaming joystick

There are about 8 more that were before these.

They sold an ATI X1600 Pro as one of the first woot off's for $100, which is the price you can buy one new, if not a little more.

Woot is not always what it seems. They like to try and fool some into paying more.

Maybe I will make your day and find you a better deal elsewhere. How many watts you need for the PSU?

BOOM! Goes the Dynamite!

Ok, Coop. There is your PSU for $4.99 after MIR. 500W. Not a super popular brand, but I have the 600W version and really like it.

Next for your HDD. Wish you were around a week ago or so. I picked up some ATA 80 GB HDD's for $20 each, free shipping.

Heck, I just ordered that power supply. $5 for a 500W PSU? No brainer. Free ground shipping. Make sure you click for ground.

The unit I fried up was a 200 watt ... thanks for the help!

That PSU I linked to above should be more than adequate then. Decent quality for a freaking amazing price. I already submitted the rebate online for the one I just bought.

Sweet  Ordering one now ...
Coopster - Take a look at the Infocus projector they had on a few days ago......was it a good deal? It looked pretty good even though it was a refurb.

Ok, I'll try to be as politically correct as possible ..Yes, that is a great projector. One of Infocus' finer models for home theater.

Now, that said, don't touch an Infocus Refurb ... in many cases they "rip and replace" parts rather than properly diagnosing what caused the unit to be a failure in the first place.

On a side note, normal dealer cost on that unit when new is $3900 ... so $2999 for a refurb would be a great deal if we didn't need to be concerned with a 90 day warranty.
