I've been doing Globle with 10yo Floppinha.

We've done an absolutely terrible job teaching this girl about geography. I know her older brother learned some in elementary school- the same school she goes to- but due to Covid or whatever, she's learned nothing there either.

Globle appears to be saving her geographical soul.

I got today's at 3, which is pretty much my best score. My wife had three days of 2 last week. My wife is smart, don't get me wrong, but I feel like an idiot sometimes as I usually average around a 4-5. 

Depends on your strategy.  My goal is to never miss a wordle.  I started 32 days ago and I'm 32 for 32.  I've got 5 in three tries, 16 in four tries and 11 in five tries.  I don't care how many tries it takes, I just want to ensure I always get it.  My wife approaches it a little differently and has gotten some in two tries, but has also missed a couple.  I prefer my way of keeping the streak alive rather than aiming for lower distribution of guesses.

Have to say, while I'm not averse to tricky/harder words, it does kind of annoy me that since the NYT took over they seem to go out of their way to try to trip people up.  It's gotten to the point where I just assume there's a double letter.

8 is the absolute minimum and that requires you guessing right every single time. 9 would be insane and you’d just have to get really lucky with the first guess and have almost every word be similar.

10 is crazy good with some luck. I think 11 is my best. I think I was a coin flip away from 10. First two guesses then right on all but 1 where it was a toss up and I guessed wrong. I think legitimately 10 is the bare minimum without ridiculous luck and all words having 3-4 common letters.

Florence Fabricant ... she was the foodie for NYT back some 20 yrs or so ago when i got to meet her at a coffee/tea expo, held at a tasting kitchen in the Puck bldg.

as much as i was there to educate on some of the coffee varietals i had a hand in importing, the only things i gave a #### about were indulging the wine bar and asking her if she knew the NYT crossword editor, Will Shortz, and if she could imagine what his life might've been like had he been named "James".

i had it lined up for days.

that's all i got on that front.

I didn't want to guess a word that I didn't think was the answer, and I didn't think that would be the answer. I spent time trying to think of other possibilities but couldn't come up with any, so I hit Enter and it worked.
