Would you buy a hoodie for 89 bucks? (1 Viewer)

If you are wearing a hoodie it should be a sports one. I got some FSU ones for $17 from Finish Line around xmas and they are perfect. If you're paying $90 for a hoodie your doing it wrong. Besides, you shouldn't wear these things in situations that require you to look to fashionable.

I wear sweatshirts that full zip with a hood all the time. My under armor is my favorite. I refuse to use that word

Ordered a black one...wasn't sure which size to got even after the size chart. Went large...we shall see.

Go to a farm store - they sell hooded sweatshirts.

Get 5 for that price.

Buy latte with savings.

Profit.

Damn hipsters.

Not a fan of the full-zipper hoodie because even good zippers seem to break. Is there a lifetime guarantee on the zipper? I prefer a pullover hoodie with a short zipper.

nope but then again the crowd i run around with does not care how much of a laroosh you look like we generally just pick our buddies based on whether or not you are all right so hey there you ahve it take that to the bank brohans

Made in America. If it was made in Asia, the price would be $19.99. This may be the formula for boosting the economy. We need more articles declaring things the best ever. The sheep will flock.

Bought 2 full zip hoodies at the UA Outlet store for 29.99 each. Both look better than that picture.

Yet they buy Carharts and Red Wing boots and drive Fords and Chevys because, you know, 'Murica and quality. No different here. I bought a $35 hoodie from Gap. Lasted 3 years. If this one lasts longer, it's worth the price. It doesn't actually look any different.

I read they run a little tight. I'm going XL, mostly because of sleeve length. And my huge gut.
i was torn between medium large...i wear anywhere from medium to xl pending on the fit etc. On their chart I was crossing over...lol

Why do you hate quality?
High price <> quality.
True. Have you read the reviews or seen the customers who are stocking up once they try them on? What makes you believe these may just be higher priced but not better quality?
When Otis is behind some article of clothing, I suspect hipster before anything else.

I wear these shoes quite frequently. I've had 'em for almost a year and haven't begun to wear the tread off them.

So...I assume you want a pair in black?

A zip-up hooded sweatshirt is an incredibly useful and versatile item. I don't think of it as hipsterish at all. Maybe it is (I'm not hip enough to know a bunch of hipsters), but even if it is, I wouldn't let the association with hipsterdom keep me from taking advantage of a nice piece of clothing.

And if the hipsters are behind the charge for a high quality, American made item, so be it.

American made and half the price, not hipster approved though. http://www.allamericanclothing.com/made-in-usa/900.html
Also lighter fabric, no reinforcement panels.Seriously, why do people have a hard time with a more expensive item that's better quality?
This is better quality than the cheap Chinese crap. It is not as high quality as the $90 one but sweatshirts aren't a fashion statement with "tailored" fit. What the hell do I need with a "reinforcement panel" anyway?

Also, just giving those who would like an American made product a more affordable option.

Seems like a nice sweatshirt.

The design and construction of the American Giant one does seem much nicer though. Not sure how they did it or if it's just the way both are modeled, but the AG seems to eliminate the thing most hoodies do where they look all bunched up at the bottom.

Whether it's worth $50 more is up to the individual, but the reasons for the price difference are certainly there.

Well, for some, they have families, mortgages, etc. Some just can't fling around $90 for a sweatshirt when the kids need new shoes, etc. I'm not saying that's always the case, but having the home with a wife and 2.3 kids does not support such an expense.

Because I'm on blood thinners and can't take the cold winters as much as I used to, I bought a multi-layered jacket from Columbia that was on sale at D icks. I got it for $169 (regularly $220) and it's been good money spent as I've been warm all through this past winter.

Edit because of the language filter blocked the name of a reputable business.

Oh, well if they look better than the picture on the Internet, they MUST be better.

The only picture I see of the AG one is the original link with a male model who is like this | | straight lines, i.e. no gut like most of us. :D If you're a slender 150lb 6ft tall guy you can get the snug fitting sweatshirt that doesn't bunch up without much issue.

100% cotton is the best, not easy to find these days. You're lucky if you get 80% cotton blend in most sweatshirts, especially the sports ones. That being said, I wouldn't pay $89 for a sweatshirt.

$89 is quite steep for a sweatshirt, and I have to imagine that the demand is driving the price somewhat. It's a bit out of my price range, and considering hooded sweatshirts are needed about 5 times a year in Florida, there's no real incentive for me to buy one. Still, I'd gladly buy one if the price dropped.

Right there with you.

I probably wouldn't even buy the AG (love the idea and hope it does well, but I still don't want to spend $90 on a sweatshirt), but I'd think the nice tapered fit might work well for my gut. With baggy sweatshirts, I'm going to look like a fat slob anyway. Better fit could give a slimming look. I'd have to check with the :style: panel to know how that works though.

I do like that the cheaper one is lighter though. I can't stand hoodies that are too thick. They are too hot for early spring and late fall, and walking into a house with the heat blasting in winter is miserable.

The "2lb" for the AG one in the story seems to be a bit of an exaggeration. Specs say it's 12.5oz which is a typical weight of a "heavy weight" sweatshirt.

I for one don't care to look 20+lbs heavier just because I put on a sweatshirt...

I love the word "should" in a sentence about hoodies.

Debating between medium and large myself. Will likely go large, even though the reviews are evenly split between the two with respect to people with similar dimensions.
