Hey everyone!
I'm looking for some generosity from my FFA brothers and sisters, please. Any donation will help.
I have a story you may find interesting. My brother came down ill on Memorial Day and has ultimately been in the hospital since June 4th (his birthday) with renal failure. What he thought started as the flu and was treated for on May 31st at a local Immediate Care Center, has turned out to be much worse. His kidneys completely failed and has now run through kidney and bone marrow biopsies, CT scans, dialysis, plasma exchange therapy, and a battery of other tests to determine what caused the kidney issue but more seriously, what is causing his blood issues (this might be multiple myeloma amongst other possible diagnoses).
He and his wife are self employed and the medical bills are going to be extremely high plus add in the fact that neither of them have worked since he's been in the hospital (now 8 days with no end in sight).
So, here's the uplifting part, I recently learned of a fundraising website called gofundme.com. I researched and started a fundraising campaign on the site so that our friends and family could do something to help Curtis and Sherrie financially. This site makes it easy to share the campaign through social media (e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter for instance) and I asked everyone to share this to their extended network.
As a result of this, donations started pouring in from others and I was excited to see we were approaching $500 at one point as it's easy for everyone to track through the website when, to my amazement, an anonymous donation came in for $5000! (Off the record, I can see the donor's name and it appears to be someone who previously won a lottery and was "paying it forward" but that donor is unconfirmed).
As you can imagine, I was overwhelmed with joy and couldn't wait to share the news with Curtis and Sherrie! This immediately brought their spirits up which has been tough to do especially since Curtis has had to start dialysis while in the hospital due to the failed kidneys.
As it is now, we have raised $5780 towards a goal of $50K in less than 24 hours.
You can read more by following this link www.gofundme.com/a8yj3g "Help for Curtis".
I'd be happy to share more details but my hope is that this story will help others who are facing similar circumstances know they can do something, also to give this great site (and others like it) some exposure, and to help our cause.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
