WR Engram Not Cleared To Play, Out Week 12

Associated Press, ESPN - [Full Article]

The Seahawks thought WR Bobby Engram would return Monday night from a seven-week bout with a thyroid condition and accelerated heart rate, so they listed him as probable. But HC Mike Holmgren said doctors are still trying to get the heart rate and other "measurables" back to normal before they clear him.

beyond football, that sounds seriousheart probs at his age....
It's not really a heart problem. The accelerated heart rate is merely a symptom of the thyroid condition. As far as life goes it's a completely treatable condition. However, the meds (and their side effects) to help the thyroid regulate the body properly are having an adverse affect on being an elite athlete.

hmmm interesting, thanks

Update on Engram...

WR Bobby Engram was listed as probable this week, but Holmgren said results of tests conducted this week weren't good enough for Engram to play. Engram suffered from a thyroid condition earlier this season, which required medication. Holmgren explained earlier this week Engram needs the medication to treat the condition, but the medication makes him sluggish. Seattle Times 11/24
