WR Brandon Aiyuk, SF (3 Viewers)

IMHO, Aiyuk is a chronic malcontent. For a variety of reasons, not every Team wants a Player like that in their locker room, no matter what might be gained from it.

I'd bet dollars to donuts if he/his side, was comporting themselves more professionally through all this, this whole business would be processing much more smoothly.

We're not discussing it much here, but my ties to the San Francisco areas have told me about some of the verbal acrimony coming from his family (wife, and brother or brother-in-law, if I'm not mistaken) and, if true, I find it to be absolutely appalling. What I've been told goes way beyond typical posturing and negotiating gamesmanship - very personal stuff about Lynch and Shanahan.

Anyone tied into the area media or the 49'ers have any knowledge of that side of things?

You may recall that he spent the early part of his 49ers career in the doghouse. “Maturity” issues, IIRC

Can we get a thread title change? Maybe "Brandon Aiyuk, SF - Nothing to see here except people bumping the thread because it was previously bumped and they thought something new happened but it didn't so they told everyone else to stop bumping the thread until something actually happens."
Add a question mark next to SF for comedic effect
Damn you for bumping again….oh wait :)

Dude, I told you I took the over!
I'm here for ya Hot sauce Guy
I'll keep bumping 'till it hurts:banned:

This is definitely not It's a Wonderful Life. Where every Time a Bell Rings an Angel Gets His Wings. King of the Jungle has it right Every time this thread gets bumped, I think it is over. This is more or less bonding on frustration as Brandon Ayuk/Agent try to squeeze the lemon further and drive-up interest.

Reminds me of the Jack-in-the-Box scene in Elf where Will Ferrell would get scared every time it popped.

49ers GM John Lynch said, “We feel the urgency to have him,” when asked about Brandon Aiyuk and his contract situation.
This story continues to take one turn after another. After reports that the 49ers weren’t interested in trading him, they went and fielded offers from the Browns, Patriots, and Steelers and were last reported to have a deal in place with the Steelers if Aiyuk doesn’t sign an extension with the Niners. The 49ers sound like a team that hopes to get a deal done with Aiyuk and get him into camp, but whether or not that comes to fruition is anyone’s guess. Aiyuk was spotted at training camp on Thursday, speaking with teammates, but this situation continues to be wait-and-see with less than a month to go before the start of the season.
Actual update! :pickle:

Didn’t really say much. :sadbanana:

Sooner or later, whoever he plays for, he will be in jeopardy of missing week 1(or at least not being a full go), and the likelihood of him pulling a muscle/soft tissue go up every day too.
I know my crew of Steeler fans as given up on the situation. We just hope Roman Wilson is back practicing soon and can be a decent WR2 by mid season.

SF offer reportedly up to 30 million. Dismiss if you prefer.

If true, I'd think that would keep him there. But we'll see.

Sources tell Rickey that the #49ers have made an offer of $30 million per year to Brandon Aiyuk today. It remains to be seen if this new offer sways him from the #Steelers.
Edited to remove deleted link speculating that a lower offer in PA might yield more money than the higher offer in Cali.

Probably not saying much at this point, but it's obvious the 49ers don't want to trade him. Why would they? Their Super Bowl window is right now. What good does a future first do for them? Anything less than going back to the Super Bowl is considered a disappointing season for them. Losing Aiyuk for a pick literally ensures they aren't going to win the Super Bowl, their offense would take a step backwards.

49ers can always sign him to a deal and still trade him if they wanted in the off-season to get the money off the books, but Aiyuk doesn't actually want to get traded, he just wants to get paid.

Makes zero sense for him to be traded, not until you know for sure what you have in Pearsall. Once that becomes obvious, it will be way easier to make that decision and the 49ers would be smart to wait a year before doing anything.

They'll still be able to get a first rounder for him 6 months from now.

This is really turning into the prima-donna girl or boy in high school. Who strung you along making it appear that they'd go out on a date with you. As soon as you lost interest. They became even more interested. Teasing you, kidding with you, smiling, trying to get more candy from you. Until finally you gave up and realized there was someone else more suited for you. Same thing can happen here. I know this won't happen but I hope the Steelers stay away from BA and the 9ers force him to play out the contract. Then next year either franchise him or let him walk.

2 things here sorry for the bad analogy and this whole situation has me hoping that Ricky Pearsall is as good as advertised and he has a better career than BA.

I really wish they'd drop the guarantee numbers with these rumors. They could offer him $50 mil a year but turns out its a 10 year contract with an out after 2 and only $15 guaranteed lol

Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have been sacked.

If 49ers are still interested in trading him, are they incentivized to wait as long as possible so that he misses training camp and develops zero chemistry with new QB? Delaying the inevitable trade puts the receiving team at a disadvantage and boosts the potential value of the trade picks received in compensation.

Just reported on the radio that Aiyuck is participating in drills at 49ers camp.

ETA: on the side, with Pearsall.

Probably meaningless, but the only activity he’s done so far.

FYI, they’ve been saying this on Bay Area radio since yesterday.
A person could also just 'educated guess' this.

Like, if I am being logical, and Aiyuk and SF seem to be close on a deal, close enough to turn down a fair market deal from PIT, I am gonna guess it's around 30 mill/year, and the only person I know in San Fran is a cocktail waitress.

Or, you know, if I had made a prediction, and it seemed I wasn't going to get it right.

Yes. There are often much more than the surface numbers reported.

This is interesting though:

Thanks @brewer Looks like it was deleted. What did it say?
Oh bummer, it basically was comparing California Taxes with Pennsylvania Taxes and how a 28M per year offer might get him more take home pay in PA than a 30M offer does in Cali.

It’s still there. I compared the value of $30M in SF to $30M in Pittsburgh.

The flaw is that Aiyuk is under obligation to purchase a home or live in either place.

Not to mention once you get past ~$10M in the winnings, who cares. It’s like pocket change to these dudes.

I've been to Western PA, and California.

Whatever the difference was, in that chart?

Not enough

Thanks @brewer. I'm sure they're doing all the math on that. Everyone is motivated differently, but I still think the draw of Shanahan and that offense would be a big factor. It's why I keep saying I think he stays there. Although something new is always fun too. But will be interesting to see.

Oh yah, to be clear, I think it was hopeful speculation by a Steelers fan. If he wanted to be in Pittsburgh for real, I think he would have done that already.

Yes. I can see that. It FEELS like the longer it goes on, the more likely the answer is the logical one all along - he plays in SF this year. But strange things happen.

This just makes me love Mike Evans so much more.

If I were a 49ers fan I wouldn’t want this donkey anywhere near my team. Culture killer.
Ehh at the end of the day if he shows up and busts his butt on the field I don’t care. I guess time will tell if he’s a “culture killer” or not. I think most pro athletes don’t like to mess with, and understand, situations that involve the player and them wanting to get theirs.

Not trying to stir the hornets nest, but is he actually worth 30 million a season? All my posts are pro player getting that money. Having said that, we are allowed to question if the value is good for the team. Is he worth top 5 wr money? Is he worth Tyreek money? I get he does more then catch. He blocks. I get it. But 30 million a year? Wow

Yeah, I had similar thoughts. but when the cap goes up and the 9th best WR signs for $40m next offseason, Aiyuk’s deal will look like a bargain if he keeps up his production.
